^{17 (3:18)} And to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat of it — of that you have eaten, cursed is the ground in your labors, in pain shall you eat of it all the days of your life.

¹⁶ And the Lord God gave a charge to Adam, saying, Of every tree which is in the garden you may freely eat, ¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil — of it you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.

^{6 (3:7)} And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes to look upon and beautiful to contemplate, and having taken of its fruit she ate, and she gave to her husband also with her, and they ate.

^{11 (3:12)} And God said to him, Who told you that you were naked, unless you have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?

²⁹ And he called his name Noah, saying, This one will cause us to cease from our works, and from the toils of our hands, and from the earth, which the Lord God has cursed.

²³ For sin is as divination; idols bring on pain and grief. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord also shall reject you from being king over Israel. ²⁴ And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, in that I have transgressed the word of the Lord and your direction; for I feared the people, and I listened to their voice.

⁶ For labor cannot by any means come out of the earth, nor shall trouble spring out of the mountains; ⁷ yet man is born to labor, and even so the vulture's young seek the high places.

¹ For a mortal born of a woman is short-lived, and full of wrath.

¹⁷ Nevertheless, the lamp of the ungodly also shall be put out, and destruction shall come upon them, and pangs of vengeance shall seize them.

⁷ For we have perished in Your anger, and in Your wrath we have been troubled. ⁸ You have set our transgressions before You; our age is in the light of Your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are gone, and we have passed away in Your wrath; our years have spun out their tale as a spider.

² It is vain for you to rise early; you rise up after resting, you that eat the bread of grief; while He gives sleep to His beloved.

² Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. ³ What advantage is there to a man in all his labor that he takes under the sun?

¹³ And I applied my heart to seek out and examine by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven, for God has given to the sons of men a burdensome task to be afflicted with. ¹⁴ I beheld all the works that were done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

¹¹ And I looked on all my works which my hands had done, and on my labor which I labored to perform, and behold, all was vanity and grasping for the wind, and there is no advantage under the sun.

¹⁷ So I hated life, because the work that was done under the sun was evil before me. For all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

²² For it happens to a man in all his labor, and in the purpose of his heart in which he labors under the sun. ²³ For all his days are sorrowful, and vexation of spirit is his; in the night also his heart rests not. This is also vanity.

¹⁷ Yea, all his days are in darkness, and in mourning, and much sorrow, and infirmity, and wrath.

⁵ And she has sinned by reason of her inhabitants; because they have transgressed the law, and changed the ordinances, even the everlasting covenant. ⁶ Therefore a curse shall consume the earth, because its inhabitants have sinned; therefore the inhabitants of the earth shall be poor, and few men shall be left.

²³ but I commanded them this thing, saying, Hear My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all My ways which I shall command you, that it may be well with you. ²⁴ But they hearkened not to Me, and their ear gave no heed, but they walked in the imaginations of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

¹² So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having wedding clothes?' And he was speechless.

²⁶ "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter. ²⁷ Therefore you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received what is mine with interest.

⁴⁵ "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, neither did you do it to Me.'

²² And he said to him, 'Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was a harsh man, taking up what I did not deposit, and reaping what I did not sow.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but have courage, I have overcome the world."

¹⁹ Now we know that as many things as the law says, it speaks to those under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but on account of Him who subjected it in hope; ²¹ because even the creation itself shall be freed from the slavery of corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that all the creation groans together and labors in birth together until now.
