¹² And she caught hold of him by his clothes, and said, Lie with me. And having left his clothes in her hands, he fled, and ran outside.

⁸ But he would not; but said to his master's wife, If because of me my master knows nothing in his house, and has given into my hands all things that belong to him;

¹⁰ So it was, as she talked with Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to sleep with her, or to be with her.

²⁷ And Samuel turned his face to depart, and Saul caught hold of the edge of his robe, and tore it.

¹⁵ go not in the way with them, let your foot turn aside from their paths:

⁸ Remove your way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:

⁵ that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare.

¹³ Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him, ¹⁴ I have a peace offering; today I pay my vows: ¹⁵ therefore I came forth to meet you, desiring your face; and I have found you. ¹⁶ I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt. ¹⁷ I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon. ¹⁸ Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at home, and has gone on a long journey, ²⁰ having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house. ²¹ So with much conversation she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from the right path. ²² And he followed her, being gently led on, as that of an ox led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a deer shot in the liver with an arrow: ²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life. ²⁴ Now then my son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Let not your heart turn aside to her ways, ²⁶ for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable. ²⁷ Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.

²⁶ And I find her to be, and I will pronounce to be more bitter than death, the woman which is a snare, and her heart nets, who has a band in her hands. He that is good in the sight of God shall be delivered from her; but the sinner shall be caught by her.

³⁰ Why should I make a covenant with your daughter, says the Lord, while you do all these things, the works of a harlot? And you have gone a-whoring in a threefold degree with your daughters. ³¹ You have built a house of harlotry at the head of every road, and have set up your high place in every street; and you became as a harlot gathering payments.

⁵¹ Now a certain young man had followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men seized him, ⁵² but leaving behind the linen cloth, he fled from them naked.

³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

²² Flee youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹¹ Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;
