²¹ They have provoked Me to jealousy by that which is not God, they have exasperated Me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are not a nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

¹⁶ They provoked Me to anger with strange gods; with their abominations they bitterly angered Me.

²¹ And turn not aside after the gods that are nothing, who will do nothing, and will not deliver you, because they are nothing.

²² Is there anyone among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? And will the sky yield His fullness at their bidding? Are not You He? We will even wait on You, O Lord, for You have made all these things.

¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel was as the sand of the sea, which shall not be measured nor numbered: and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people, even they shall be called the sons of the living God.

²⁵ As also in Hosea He says: "I will call those My people who were not My people, and her beloved, who was not beloved."

¹⁹ But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: "I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, by an unintelligent nation I will anger you."

¹¹ I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But by their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. ¹² But if their transgression is the riches of the world, and their defeat is the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fullness! ¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am indeed an apostle to the Gentiles, I glorify my ministry, ¹⁴ if somehow I may provoke to jealousy my fellow Jews, and I may save some of them.

²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellent virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; ¹⁰ who formerly were not a people but now are the people of God, who had not received mercy, but now have received mercy.
