²⁴ whom God raised, thus doing away with the labor pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.

³ The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me; I found affliction and sorrow. ⁴ Then I called on the name of the Lord — O Lord, deliver my soul.

¹⁶ O Lord, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, and the son of Your handmaid; You have burst my bonds.

⁸ Death has prevailed and swallowed men up; but again the Lord God has taken away every tear from every face. He has taken away the reproach of His people from all the earth; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

¹⁹ The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised, and they that are in the earth shall rejoice; for the dew from You is healing to them; but the land of the ungodly shall perish.

¹⁰ The Lord also is pleased to purge Him from His stroke. If you give an offering for sin, Your soul shall see a long-lived seed;

¹⁴ I will deliver them out of the power of Hades, and will redeem them from death. O death, where is your punishment? O Hades, where is your sting? Comfort is hidden from My eyes.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while He was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.'

¹ And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. ² But they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. ³ And going in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. ⁵ Then, as they became afraid and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.' " ⁸ And they remembered His words. ⁹ And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. ¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the rest with them, who told these things to the apostles. ¹¹ And their words seemed like nonsense before them, and they disbelieved them. ¹² But Peter rose up and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen strips lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened. ¹³ Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And they were conversing with one another about all these things which had happened. ¹⁵ So it was, as they were conversing and discussing, that Jesus Himself drew near and started to travel with them. ¹⁶ But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not recognize Him. ¹⁷ And He said to them, "What are these words which you are exchanging with one another as you walk, and you have a gloomy look?" ¹⁸ Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and do not know what has happened in it in these days?" ¹⁹ And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who proved to be a man who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, ²⁰ and how the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified Him. ²¹ But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. ²² Moreover certain women of our group astonished us, after they arrived early at the tomb. ²³ And not finding His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. ²⁴ And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it thus just as also the women had said; but Him they did not see." ²⁵ Then He said to them, "O you foolish, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?" ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. ²⁸ Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He made as though He was going farther. ²⁹ But they constrained Him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them. ³⁰ Now it came to pass, as He was reclining to eat with them, having taken bread, He blessed and broke it, and He gave it to them. ³¹ Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. ³² And they said to one another, "Was not our heart burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, and while He was interpreting the Scriptures to us?" ³³ So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, ³⁴ saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!" ³⁵ And they described the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread. ³⁶ Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you." ³⁷ But being alarmed and becoming fearful, they thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." ⁴⁰ When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. ⁴¹ But as they still disbelieved for joy, and marveled, He said to them, "Do you have any food here?" ⁴² So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. ⁴³ And taking it, He ate it in their presence. ⁴⁴ Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." ⁴⁵ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And you are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I am sending the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." ⁵⁰ And He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up His hands, He blessed them. ⁵¹ And it happened, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and was carried up into heaven. ⁵² And after they had worshipped Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, ⁵³ and they were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." ²⁰ Then the Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" ²¹ But He was speaking about the temple of His body.

¹⁸ No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This command I have received from My Father."

³⁵ If He called those gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:

⁹ For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

¹⁶ Men, brothers; it was necessary for this Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;

³² "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses."

¹⁵ and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

²⁶ To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities."

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name this man stands here before you whole.

⁴⁰ This Jesus God raised on the third day, and granted Him to become visible, ⁴¹ not to all the people, but to witnesses, who having been chosen beforehand by God, even to us, who ate together and drank together with Him after He arose from the dead.

³⁰ But God raised Him from the dead;

³³ that God has fulfilled this promise for us to their children, when He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, today I have begotten You.' ³⁴ "And that He raised Him from the dead, no longer being about to return to corruption, thus He has said: 'I will give you the sure decrees of God concerning David.'

³⁷ but He whom God raised up did not see corruption.

³¹ because He has appointed a day in which He is going to judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He appointed, having given proof to all, by raising Him from the dead."

²⁴ but for us also, to whom it was going to be imputed, those believing on Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁴ Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

¹¹ But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you.

³⁴ Who is he that condemns? Christ is the One having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at the right hand of God, who also intercedes on our behalf.

⁹ that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and you believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

⁹ For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, so that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

¹⁴ Now God has both raised up the Lord, and will also raise us up through His power.

¹² Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹⁵ And we are found to be false witnesses of God, because we bore witness concerning God, that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise--if in fact the dead are not raised.

¹⁴ knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us through Jesus, and will present us together with you.

¹ Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),

²⁰ which He worked in Christ, having raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,

¹² having been buried together with Him in baptism, in which also you were raised together through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

¹⁴ Therefore since the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same things, in order that through death He might destroy the one having the power of death, that is, the devil,

²⁰ Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,

²¹ who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

¹⁸ I am He who lives, and became dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Death and of Hades.
