⁴ And when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Certainly this man is a murderer, whom though he was rescued from the sea, justice does not permit to continue living."

^{1 (3:2)} Now the serpent was the most crafty of all the brutes on the earth, which the Lord God made. And the serpent said to the woman, Has God truly said, Eat not of every tree of the garden?

⁸ And Cain said to Abel his brother, Let us go out into the plain. And it came to pass, that when they were in the plain, Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and killed him. ⁹ And the Lord God said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know — am I my brother's keeper? ¹⁰ And the Lord said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed from the earth which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.

⁵ For your lifeblood shall I require at the hand of all wild beasts, and I shall require a man's life at the hand of his fellow man. ⁶ He that sheds man's blood, instead of that blood shall his own be shed, for in the image of God I made man.

²¹ And each said to his brother, Yes, indeed, for we are in fault concerning our brother, when we disregarded the anguish of his soul, when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear him; therefore has this affliction come upon us. ²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not hurt the boy, and you would not listen? Therefore behold, his blood is now required of us.

³¹ And you shall not accept ransoms for life from a murderer who is worthy of death, for he shall be surely put to death. ³² You shall not accept a ransom to excuse his fleeing to the city of refuge, so that he should again dwell in the land, until the death of the high priest. ³³ So shall you not pollute with murder the land in which you dwell; for this blood pollutes the land, and the land shall not be purged from the blood shed upon it, but by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ And you shall not defile the land on which you dwell, on which I dwell in the midst of you; for I am the Lord dwelling in the midst of the children of Israel.

¹⁷ He that becomes surety for a man charged with murder shall be in exile, and not in safety. ^(28:17A) Chasten your son, and he shall love you, and give honor to your soul: he shall not obey a sinful nation.

²¹ But wild beasts shall rest there; and the houses shall be filled with howling; and monsters shall rest there, and demons shall dance there, ²² and satyrs shall dwell there; and hedgehogs shall make their nests in their houses. It will come soon, and will not tarry.

²¹ For behold, the Lord is bringing wrath from His holy place on those that dwell upon the earth; the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall not cover her slain.

²⁰ the beasts of the field shall bless Me, the owls and young ostriches; for I have given water in the wilderness, and rivers in the dry land, to give drink to My chosen race,

^{15 (3:1)} This is the scornful city that dwells securely, that says in her heart, I am, and there is no longer any to be after me: how has she become desolate, and a habitation of wild beasts! Everyone that passes through her shall hiss, and shake their hands in contempt.

³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood being shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

²⁵ And all the people answered and said, "His blood be on us and on our children."

² And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

⁴ Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that these were offenders more than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?

²⁴ Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

¹ And passing by, He saw a man blind from birth. ² And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

² And the natives were showing us extraordinary kindness; for having kindled a fire they accepted us all into their society, because of the rain which had begun, and because of the cold.

⁵ Then, having shaken off the creature into the fire, he suffered nothing harmful.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and sinners, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and drug users, and idolaters, and all who are false shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
