⁴ And after this, after he had shown to them the wealth of his kingdom, and the abundant glory of his wealth during a hundred and eighty days,

² Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

¹⁴ Therefore hell has enlarged its desire and opened its mouth without ceasing; and her glorious and great, and her rich and her pestilent men shall go down into it.

¹² with the swords of mighty men; and I will cast down your strength; they are all destroying ones from the nations, and they shall destroy the pride of Egypt, and all her strength shall be crushed.

²⁸ And I will make the land desolate, and the pride of her strength shall perish; and the mountains of Israel shall be made desolate by reason of no man passing through.

³⁰ the king answered and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for a royal residence, by the might of my power, for the honor of my glory?

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, "Go your way, for he is a chosen vessel to Me to bear My name before Gentiles and kings, and the sons of Israel.

²¹ And on an appointed day Herod, clothing himself with royal apparel, and sitting on the judgment seat, was delivering an address to them.

¹³ And after some days King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea and greeted Festus.

³⁰ When he had said these things, the king stood up, as well as the governor and Bernice and those sitting together with them;

³¹ and those using this world as not using it up. For the form of this world is passing away.

¹¹ For the sun arose with burning heat and withered the grass, and its flower fell off, and its beautiful appearance perished. So the rich man also shall fade away in his pursuits.

²⁴ For "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man is as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away,

¹⁶ Because everything that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not from the Father but is from the world.
