²⁸ And the king said to her, What is the matter with you? And the woman said to him, This woman said to me, Give your son, and we will eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.

¹⁷ And God heard the voice of the child from the place where he was, and an angel of God called Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, What is it, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the child from the place where he is.

²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat.

⁵³ And you shall eat the fruit of your body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, all that He has given you, in your desperate straits and your affliction, with which your enemy shall afflict you. ⁵⁴ He that is tender and very delicate within you shall look with an evil eye upon his brother, and the wife in his bosom, and the children that are left, which may have been left to him; ⁵⁵ so as not to give to one of them of the flesh of his children, whom he shall eat, because of his having nothing left him in your desperate straits, and in your affliction, with which your enemies shall afflict you in all your cities. ⁵⁶ And she that is tender and delicate among you, whose foot has not ventured to go upon the earth for delicacy and tenderness, shall look with an evil eye on her husband in her bosom, and her son and her daughter, ⁵⁷ and her offspring that comes out between her feet, and the child which she shall bear; for she shall eat them because of the needs of all things, secretly in your desperate straits, and in your affliction, with which your enemy shall afflict you in your cities.

²³ And the children of Dan turned their face, and said to Micah, What is the matter with you that you have cried out?

⁸ And Elkanah her husband said to her, Anna; and she said to him, Here am I, my lord. And he said to her, What ails you that you weep? And why do you not eat? And why does your heart smite you? Am I not better to you than ten children?

⁵ And the king said to her, What is the matter with you? And she said, I am indeed a widow woman, and my husband is dead.

⁵ What ailed you, O sea, that you fled? And you, O Jordan, that you were turned back?

²⁰ But one shall turn aside to the right hand, for he shall be hungry; and shall eat on the left, and a man shall by no means be satisfied with eating the flesh of his own arm. ²¹ For Manasseh shall eat the flesh of Ephraim, and Ephraim the flesh of Manasseh; for they shall besiege Judah together. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is yet exalted.

¹ The word of the valley of Zion. What has happened to you, that you now are all going up to the housetops, which help you not?

¹⁵ Will a woman forget her child, so as not to have compassion upon the offspring of her womb? But if a woman should even forget these, yet I will not forget you, says the Lord.

¹⁰ ( { ι}) JOD. The hands of tender hearted women have boiled their own children; they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

¹⁰ Therefore the fathers shall eat their children in the midst of you, and children shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in you, and I will scatter all that are left of you to the four winds.

¹⁸ And let the one in the field not turn back to take his clothes. ¹⁹ But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to the women nursing a baby in those days! ²⁰ But pray that your flight may not take place in winter, nor on the Sabbath. ²¹ For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor by any means shall be.

²⁹ For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs which did not give birth, and breasts which did not nurse!'
