¹⁹ Yet He sent prophets to them, to turn them to the Lord; but they hearkened not; and He testified to them, but they obeyed not.

¹³ And the Lord testified against Israel and against Judah, even by the hand of all His prophets, and of every seer, saying, Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My ordinances, and all the law which I commanded your fathers, and all that I sent to them by the hand of My servants the prophets. ¹⁴ But they hearkened not, and made their neck harder than the neck of their fathers. ¹⁵ And they kept not any of His testimonies which He charged them; and they walked after vanities, and became vain, and after the nations round about them, concerning which the Lord had charged them not to do accordingly.

¹⁵ And the Lord God of their fathers sent by the hand of His prophets; rising early and sending His messengers, for He had compassion on His people, and His sanctuary. ¹⁶ Nevertheless they sneered at His messengers, and despised His words, and mocked His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose up against His people, till there was no remedy.

²⁶ But they turned, and revolted from You, and cast Your law behind their backs; and they killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them back to You, and they worked great provocations.

⁷ For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. ⁸ Today, if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, according to the day of trial in the wilderness;

²³ Listen, and hear my voice; give ear, and hear my words.

²³ Who is there among you that will give ear to these things? Hearken to the things which are coming to pass.

⁴ Hear Me, hear Me, My people; and you kings, hearken to Me; for a law shall proceed from Me, and My judgment shall be for a light of the nations.

³ Give heed with your ears, and follow My ways; hearken to Me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David.

²⁵ From the day that their fathers went forth out of the land of Egypt, even until this day, and I sent to you all My servants the prophets, by day and early in the morning. Yes, I have sent them, ²⁶ but they hearkened not to Me, and their ear gave no heed; and they made their neck harder than their fathers.

⁴ and I sent to you My servants the prophets, sending them early; (but you would not listen, nor incline your ear to hear) saying, ⁵ Turn, everyone of you, from his evil way, and from your evil practices, and you shall dwell in the land which I gave to you and your fathers, forever and ever.

⁵ to hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I sent to you early in the morning; yes, I sent them, but you hearkened not to Me;

⁴ Yet I sent to you My servants the prophets early in the morning; and I sent, saying, Do not do this abominable thing which I hate. ⁵ But they hearkened not to Me, and inclined not their ear to turn from their wickedness, so as not to burn incense to strange gods.

⁹ He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

¹⁵ For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn back, that I should heal them.' ¹⁶ "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears, because they hear.

⁴⁷ Woe to you! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Consequently, you bear witness to and approve of the deeds of your fathers; because they indeed killed them, but you build their tombs. ⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,' ⁵⁰ so that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required from this generation, ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

³¹ But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded should one rise from the dead.' "

⁹ Then He began to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, leased it to farmers, and went on a journey for a long time. ¹⁰ Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the farmers, that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers flogged him and sent him away empty-handed. ¹¹ And again he sent another servant; and they flogged him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed. ¹² And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also and threw him out. ¹³ Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Perhaps when they see him they will respect him.' ¹⁴ But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.' ¹⁵ And casting him out of the vineyard, they killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
