²⁷ and tell Joash the king's son to put this fellow in prison, and to feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I return in peace.

³ You shall not eat leaven with it; seven days shall you eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of affliction, because you came forth out of Egypt in haste; that you may remember the day of your coming forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

¹⁰ And Asa was angry with the prophet, and put him in prison, for he was angry at this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

²⁵ And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the captain, the king's son; ²⁶ and you shall say, Thus said the king: Put this fellow into the prison house, and let him eat the bread of affliction, and drink the water of affliction, until I return in peace. ²⁷ And Micaiah said, If you do at all return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, all you people.

⁵ You will feed us with the bread of tears; and will cause us to drink tears by measure.

⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping;

² It is vain for you to rise early; you rise up after resting, you that eat the bread of grief; while He gives sleep to His beloved.

²⁰ And though the Lord shall give you the bread of affliction and scant water, yet they that cause you to err shall no more at all draw near to you; for your eyes shall see those that cause you to err,

² And he struck him, and cast him into the dungeon which was by the gate of the upper house that was set apart, which was by the house of the Lord.

²⁶ The Lord has made you priest in the place of Jehoida the priest, to be ruler in the house of the Lord over every prophet, and to every madman, and you shall put them in prison, and into the dungeon.

¹⁵ And the princes were very angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and sent him into the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had turned his house into a prison.

And she said, "The head of John the Baptist!" ²⁵ Immediately she came in with haste to the king and she requested, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter." ²⁶ And the king became exceedingly sorry; yet, because of his oaths and of those who reclined with him, he did not want to refuse her. ²⁷ And immediately the king, having sent an executioner, commanded his head to be brought. And having departed, he beheaded him in the prison, ²⁸ and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

²⁰ he also added this to all his other sins, and locked up John in the prison.

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, ⁴⁶ the master of that servant will come on a day which he does not expect, and at an hour which he does not know, and he will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

¹⁸ and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the public custody.

²³ And when they laid many strokes on them, they cast them into prison, commanding the prison keeper to keep them securely; ²⁴ who, having received such a command, cast them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

²⁵ And as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment which is going to be, Felix became afraid and answered, "Go away for now; but when I have opportunity I will summon you." ²⁶ Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. ¹³ Come now, you who say, "Today and tomorrow let us travel to this city, and let us spend a year there, and let us trade and make a profit"-- ¹⁴ you who do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? For it will be a vapor that appears for a little time, but then also disappears.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you are about to suffer. Behold indeed, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
