⁵⁰ And beholde, there was a man named Ioseph, a councellour, and he was a good man and a iust

⁵⁷ When the euen was come, there came a ryche man of Aramathia, named Ioseph, which also hym selfe was Iesus disciple ⁵⁸ He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Iesus. Then Pilate comaunded the body to be delyuered ⁵⁹ And when Ioseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a cleane lynnen cloth ⁶⁰ And layde it in his newe tombe, which he had hewen out, euen in the rocke, and rolled a great stone to the dore of the sepulchre, and departed ⁶¹ And there was Marie Magdalene, & the other Marie, syttyng ouer against the sepulchre

⁴² And nowe when the euen was come, (because it was the day of preparyng, that goeth before the Sabboth ⁴³ Ioseph [of the citie] of Aramathia, a noble councellour, which also loked for the kyngdome of God, came, and went in boldely vnto Pilate, and begged of hym the body of Iesu ⁴⁴ And Pilate marueyled that he was alredy dead: and called vnto hym the Centurion, and asked of hym, whether he had ben any whyle dead ⁴⁵ And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph ⁴⁶ And he bought a lynnen cloth, & toke hym downe, and wrapped hym in the lynnen cloth, & layde him in a sepulchre, that was hewe out of the rocke, & roulled a stone vnto the doore of ye sepulchre ⁴⁷ And Marie Magdalene, and Marie Ioses, behelde where he was layde

²⁵ And beholde, there was a man in Hierusalem, whose name was Simeon: and the same man was iust and godlye, and loked for the consolation of Israel, and the holy ghost was vpon hym

³⁸ After this, Ioseph of Aramathia, (which was a disciple of Iesus, but secretely, for feare of ye Iewes) besought Pilate that he myght take downe the body of Iesus. And Pilate gaue hym licence. He came therefore, and toke the dye of Iesus ³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus (whiche at the begynnyng came to Iesus by nyght) and brought of mirre and aloes myngled together, about an hundred pounde [wayght. ⁴⁰ Then toke they the body of Iesus, & wounde it in linnen clothes, with the odours, as the maner of the Iewes is to burie ⁴¹ And in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a newe sepulchre, wherein was neuer man yet layde ⁴² There layde they Iesus therfore, because of the preparyng [of the Sabboth] of the Iewes: for the sepulchre was nie [at hande.

² A deuoute man, & one yt feared God, with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God alway

²² And they sayde: Cornelius the capitayne, a iust man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the people of the Iewes, was warned by an holy Angel to sende for thee into his house, and to heare wordes of thee

²⁴ For he was a good man, and full of the holy ghost, and of fayth: And much people was added vnto the Lorde
