Contend with my opponents, O LORD; fight against those who fight against me. ² Take up Your shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid. ³ Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers; say to my soul: “I am your salvation.” ⁴ May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plan to harm me be driven back and confounded. ⁵ May they be like chaff in the wind, as the angel of the LORD drives them away. ⁶ May their path be dark and slick, as the angel of the LORD pursues. ⁷ For without cause they laid their net for me; without reason they dug a pit for my soul. ⁸ May ruin befall them by surprise; may the net they hid ensnare them; may they fall into the hazard they created. ⁹ Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and exult in His salvation. ¹⁰ All my bones will exclaim, “Who is like You, O LORD, who delivers the afflicted from the aggressor, the poor and needy from the robber?” ¹¹ Hostile witnesses come forward; they make charges I know nothing about. ¹² They repay me evil for good, to the bereavement of my soul. ¹³ Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting, but my prayers returned unanswered. ¹⁴ I paced about as for my friend or brother; I was bowed down with grief, like one mourning for his mother. ¹⁵ But when I stumbled, they assembled in glee; they gathered together against me. Assailants I did not know slandered me without ceasing. ¹⁶ Like godless jesters at a feast, they gnashed their teeth at me. ¹⁷ How long, O Lord, will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, my precious life from these lions. ¹⁸ Then I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people. ¹⁹ Let not my enemies gloat over me without cause, nor those who hate me without reason wink in malice. ²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land. ²¹ They gape at me and say, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen!” ²² O LORD, You have seen it; be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me. ²³ Awake and rise to my defense, to my cause, my God and my Lord! ²⁴ Vindicate me by Your righteousness, O LORD my God, and do not let them gloat over me. ²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, just what we wanted!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up!” ²⁶ May those who gloat in my distress be ashamed and confounded; may those who exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach. ²⁷ May those who favor my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, “Exalted be the LORD who delights in His servant’s well-being.” ²⁸ Then my tongue will proclaim Your righteousness and Your praises all day long.

²⁵ He caused their chariot wheels to wobble, so that they had difficulty driving. “Let us flee from the Israelites,” said the Egyptians, “for the LORD is fighting for them against Egypt!”

⁴² And because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel, Joshua captured all these kings and their land in one campaign.

¹⁵ May the LORD be our judge and decide between you and me. May He take notice and plead my case and deliver me from your hand.”

²⁰ Wherever you hear the sound of the horn, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us!”

¹ Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; deliver me from deceitful and unjust men.

¹⁵⁴ Defend my cause and redeem me; revive me according to Your word.

²³ for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who rob them.

¹¹ for their Redeemer is strong; He will take up their case against you.

²⁵ Indeed, this is what the LORD says: “Even the captives of the mighty will be taken away, and the plunder of the tyrant will be retrieved; I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children.

³⁶ Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance on your behalf; I will dry up her sea and make her springs run dry.

⁵⁸ You defend my cause, O Lord; You redeem my life.

⁹ Because I have sinned against Him, I must endure the rage of the LORD, until He argues my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see His righteousness.

³⁹ But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”

⁹ A great clamor arose, and some scribes from the party of the Pharisees got up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

³ The LORD is a warrior, the LORD is His name.

⁴¹ when I sharpen My flashing sword, and My hand grasps it in judgment, I will take vengeance on My adversaries and repay those who hate Me. ⁴² I will make My arrows drunk with blood, while My sword devours flesh—the blood of the slain and captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.”

¹² If one does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has bent and strung His bow. ¹³ He has prepared His deadly weapons; He ordains His arrows with fire.

⁴ He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart.

⁵ They are coming from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens—the LORD and the weapons of His wrath—to destroy the whole country.

¹³ The LORD goes forth like a mighty one; He stirs up His zeal like a warrior. He shouts; yes, He roars in triumph over His enemies:

¹⁸ I await Your salvation, O LORD.

²⁶ Saul was proceeding along one side of the mountain, and David and his men along the other side. Even though David was hurrying to get away, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them. ²⁷ Then a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Come quickly, for the Philistines have raided the land!”

¹⁰ Have You not placed a hedge on every side around him and his household and all that he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

² When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell.

¹² Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit.

⁷ My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God.

¹⁰ Even the wrath of man shall praise You; with the survivors of wrath You will clothe Yourself.

¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”

⁹ Huddle together, O peoples, and be shattered; pay attention, all you distant lands; prepare for battle, and be shattered; prepare for battle, and be shattered! ¹⁰ Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; state a proposal, but it will not happen. For God is with us.”

¹² So when the Lord has completed all His work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for the fruit of his arrogant heart and the proud look in his eyes.

² Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and He also has become my salvation.”

³⁰ For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

²⁸ They carried out what Your hand and will had decided beforehand would happen.

²³ Observe and find out all the places where he hides. Then come back to me with certainty, and I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will search him out among all the clans of Judah.”

¹⁰ “I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and they are seeking my life as well.”

¹⁷ O LORD, let me not be ashamed, for I have called on You. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them lie silent in Sheol. ¹⁸ May lying lips be silenced—lips that speak with arrogance against the righteous, full of pride and contempt.

²⁶ May those who gloat in my distress be ashamed and confounded; may those who exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach.

¹² Those who seek my life lay snares; those who wish me harm speak destruction, plotting deceit all day long.

¹⁴ May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated. ¹⁵ May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

² May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated. ³ May those who say, “Aha, aha!” retreat because of their shame.

²⁴ My tongue will indeed proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm are disgraced and confounded.

⁵ May all who hate Zion be turned back in shame.

²⁹ Because your rage and arrogance against Me have reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My bit in your mouth; I will send you back the way you came.’

⁵ Why am I seeing this? They are terrified, they are retreating; their warriors are defeated, they flee in haste without looking back; terror is on every side!” declares the LORD.

¹⁹ You have profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to My people who would listen, you have killed those who should not have died and spared those who should not have lived.

¹ When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people conspired against Jesus to put Him to death.

⁶ When Jesus said, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

¹⁹ And the angel of God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them,

¹⁸ Are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a storm?

⁴ Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.

¹³ Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. ¹⁴ As fire consumes a forest, as a flame sets the mountains ablaze, ¹⁵ so pursue them with Your tempest, and terrify them with Your storm. ¹⁶ Cover their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD. ¹⁷ May they be ever ashamed and terrified; may they perish in disgrace.

¹³ The nations rage like the rush of many waters. He rebukes them, and they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweeds before a gale.

⁵ But your many foes will be like fine dust, the multitude of the ruthless like blowing chaff. Then suddenly, in an instant,

³⁶ Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 men in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!

³ Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, like smoke through an open window.

²³ Immediately, because Herod did not give glory to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

²⁸ By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch Israel’s own firstborn.

¹⁸ Surely You set them on slick ground; You cast them down into ruin.

¹⁹ But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom; they do not know what makes them stumble.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the dusky mountains. You wait for light, but He turns it into deep gloom and thick darkness.

¹² “Therefore their path will become slick; they will be driven away into the darkness and fall into it. For I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.

⁸ For his own feet lead him into a net, and he wanders into its mesh.

³ O LORD my God, if I have done this, if injustice is on my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded my ally with evil, if I have plundered my foe without cause, ⁵ then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah

¹⁵ The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.

³ Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced.

⁴ ambushing the innocent in seclusion, shooting suddenly, without fear.

⁴ Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs of my head; many are those who would destroy me—my enemies for no reason. Though I did not steal, I must repay.

⁸⁵ The arrogant have dug pits for me in violation of Your law.

⁵ The proud hide a snare for me; the cords of their net are spread along the path, and lures are set out for me. Selah

²⁵ But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’

¹⁷ Then Saul said to David, “Here is my older daughter Merab. I will give her to you in marriage. Only be valiant for me and fight the LORD’s battles.” But Saul was thinking, “I need not raise my hand against him; let the hand of the Philistines be against him.”

² The Philistines followed hard after Saul and his sons, and they killed Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua. ³ When the battle intensified against Saul, the archers overtook him and wounded him critically. ⁴ Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run it through me, or these uncircumcised men will come and run me through and torture me!” But his armor-bearer was terrified and refused to do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

² I will attack him while he is weak and weary; I will throw him into a panic, and all the people with him will flee; I will strike down only the king ³ and bring all the people back to you as a bride returning to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be at peace.” ⁴ This proposal seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

²³ When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his affairs in order and hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.

¹⁴ But Joab declared, “I am not going to wait like this with you!” And he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the oak tree. ¹⁵ And ten young men who carried Joab’s armor surrounded Absalom, struck him, and killed him.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the fury of the king subsided.

¹⁵ He has dug a hole and hollowed it out; he has fallen into a pit of his own making. ¹⁶ His trouble recoils on himself, and his violence falls on his own head.

⁶ They spread a net for my feet; my soul was despondent. They dug a pit before me, but they themselves have fallen into it! Selah

⁷ But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be wounded.

¹⁸ Surely You set them on slick ground; You cast them down into ruin. ¹⁹ How suddenly they are laid waste, completely swept away by terrors! ²⁰ Like one waking from a dream, so You, O Lord, awaken and despise their form.

⁹ Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the lures of evildoers. ¹⁰ Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.

²² The iniquities of a wicked man entrap him; the cords of his sin entangle him.

¹ A man who remains stiff-necked after much reproof will suddenly be shattered beyond recovery.

¹¹ But disaster will come upon you; you will not know how to charm it away. A calamity will befall you that you will be unable to ward off. Devastation will happen to you suddenly and unexpectedly.

³ When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was filled with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. ⁴ “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said. “What is that to us?” they replied. “You bear the responsibility.” ⁵ So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

³⁴ But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare.

³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

¹ At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD in whom my horn is exalted. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.

¹⁴ that I may declare all Your praises—that within the gates of Daughter Zion I may rejoice in Your salvation.

⁵ But I have trusted in Your loving devotion; my heart will rejoice in Your salvation.

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength. How greatly he exults in Your salvation!

²¹ For our hearts rejoice in Him, since we trust in His holy name.

¹¹ Mount Zion is glad, the daughters of Judah rejoice, on account of Your judgments.

¹⁰ The righteous will rejoice when they see they are avenged; they will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ Then men will say, “There is surely a reward for the righteous! There is surely a God who judges the earth!”

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A song. God arises. His enemies are scattered, and those who hate Him flee His presence. ² As smoke is blown away, You will drive them out; as wax melts before the fire, the wicked will perish in the presence of God. ³ But the righteous will be glad and rejoice before God; they will celebrate with joy.

¹⁰ I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom wears a priestly headdress, as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

¹⁸ yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

⁴⁶ Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

¹ Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. ² Watch out for those dogs, those workers of evil, those mutilators of the flesh! ³ For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—

¹¹ Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You—majestic in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?

¹⁵ He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful. ¹⁶ So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.

¹⁹ A man is also chastened on his bed with pain and constant distress in his bones, ²⁰ so that he detests his bread, and his soul loathes his favorite food. ²¹ His flesh wastes away from sight, and his hidden bones protrude. ²² He draws near to the Pit, and his life to the messengers of death. ²³ Yet if there is a messenger on his side, one mediator in a thousand, to tell a man what is right for him, ²⁴ to be gracious to him and say, ‘Spare him from going down to the Pit; I have found his ransom,’ ²⁵ then his flesh is refreshed like a child’s; he returns to the days of his youth.

¹⁴ But You have regarded trouble and grief; You see to repay it by Your hand. The victim entrusts himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.

¹⁷ He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from foes too mighty for me.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are disjointed. My heart is like wax; it melts away within me.

²⁴ For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He has not hidden His face from him, but has attended to his cry for help.

³ When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long.

⁶ This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles.

²⁰ He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn the sword and bent the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.

³ There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin.

⁸ Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones You have crushed rejoice.

³³ For the LORD listens to the needy and does not despise His captive people.

¹⁹ Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You?

⁸ O Lord, there is none like You among the gods, nor any works like Yours.

⁶ For who in the skies can compare with the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD? ⁷ In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him. ⁸ O LORD God of Hosts, who is like You? O mighty LORD, Your faithfulness surrounds You.

³ For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones burn like glowing embers.

¹⁷ He will turn toward the prayer of the destitute; He will not despise their prayer. ¹⁸ Let this be written for the generation to come, so that a people not yet created may praise the LORD. ¹⁹ For He looked down from the heights of His sanctuary; the LORD gazed out from heaven to earth ²⁰ to hear a prisoner’s groaning, to release those condemned to death,

³¹ For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save him from the condemners of his soul.

¹² I know that the LORD upholds justice for the poor and defends the cause of the needy.

²² Do not rob a poor man because he is poor, and do not crush the afflicted at the gate, ²³ for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who rob them.

¹⁸ To whom will you liken God? To what image will you compare Him?

²⁵ “To whom will you liken Me, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.

⁷ Who would not fear You, O King of nations? This is Your due. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You.

⁹ and said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Look, David intends to harm you’?

¹⁰ But Nabal asked them, “Who is David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants these days are breaking away from their masters.

¹² Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death. ⁶⁰ But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward

¹³ where they presented false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.

⁵ We have found this man to be a pestilence, stirring up dissension among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes, ⁶ and he even tried to desecrate the temple; so we seized him.

¹² Yet my accusers did not find me debating with anyone in the temple or riling up a crowd in the synagogues or in the city. ¹³ Nor can they prove to you any of their charges against me.

⁴ Then Jonathan spoke well of David to his father Saul and said to him, “The king should not sin against his servant David; he has not sinned against you. In fact, his actions have been highly beneficial to you. ⁵ He took his life in his hands when he struck down the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent blood by killing David for no reason?”

¹⁵ But Saul sent the messengers back to see David and told them, “Bring him up to me in his bed so I can kill him.”

³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives on this earth, neither you nor your kingship shall be established. Now send for him and bring him to me, for he must surely die!” ³² “Why must he be put to death?” Jonathan replied. “What has he done?” ³³ Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan to kill him; so Jonathan knew that his father was determined to kill David.

¹³ And Saul asked him, “Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God for him so that he could rise up against me to lie in wait, as he is doing today.” ¹⁴ Ahimelech answered the king, “Who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king’s son-in-law, the captain of your bodyguard who is honored in your house?

²⁰ Those who repay my good with evil attack me for pursuing the good.

³ They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause. ⁴ In return for my love they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer. ⁵ They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

¹³ If anyone returns evil for good, evil will never leave his house.

²⁰ Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You to speak good on their behalf, to turn Your wrath from them.

²¹ but they kept shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” ²² A third time he said to them, “What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him.” ²³ But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.

³² But Jesus responded, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone Me?”

²⁹ This is to be a permanent statute for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month, you shall humble yourselves and not do any work—whether the native or the foreigner who resides among you—

³¹ It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.

²⁷ When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. He lay down in sackcloth and walked around meekly. ²⁸ Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying: ²⁹ “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity during his days, but I will bring it upon his house in the days of his son.”

²⁵ Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has my soul not grieved for the needy?

¹⁰ I wept and fasted, but it brought me reproach. ¹¹ I made sackcloth my clothing, and I was sport to them.

³ “Why have we fasted, and You have not seen? Why have we humbled ourselves, and You have not noticed?” “Behold, on the day of your fast, you do as you please, and you oppress all your workers.

⁵ Is this the fast I have chosen: a day for a man to deny himself, to bow his head like a reed, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the LORD?

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

¹⁴ At that time John’s disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast so often, but Your disciples do not fast?” ¹⁵ Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while He is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.

¹³ If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it; but if it is not, let your peace return to you.

⁶ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse. ¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.

⁶⁷ And Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah and took Rebekah as his wife. And Isaac loved her and was comforted after his mother’s death.

¹¹ Then David took hold of his own clothes and tore them, and all the men who were with him did the same. ¹² They mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the people of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

¹⁷ Then David took up this lament for Saul and his son Jonathan, ¹⁸ and he ordered that the sons of Judah be taught the Song of the Bow. It is written in the Book of Jashar: ¹⁹ “Your glory, O Israel, lies slain on your heights. How the mighty have fallen! ²⁰ Tell it not in Gath; proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, and the daughters of the uncircumcised exult. ²¹ O mountains of Gilboa, may you have no dew or rain, no fields yielding offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul, no longer anointed with oil. ²² From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not retreat, and the sword of Saul did not return empty. ²³ Saul and Jonathan, beloved and delightful in life, were not divided in death. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions. ²⁴ O daughters of Israel, weep for Saul, who clothed you in scarlet and luxury, who decked your garments with ornaments of gold. ²⁵ How the mighty have fallen in the thick of battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights. ²⁶ I grieve for you, Jonathan, my brother. You were delightful to me; your love to me was extraordinary, surpassing the love of women. ²⁷ How the mighty have fallen and the weapons of war have perished!”

⁶ I am bent and brought low; all day long I go about mourning.

⁴¹ As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it ⁴² and said, “If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.

⁹ His anger has torn me and opposed me; He gnashes His teeth at me. My adversary pierces me with His eyes.

¹ “But now they mock me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to entrust with my sheep dogs. ² What use to me was the strength of their hands, since their vigor had left them? ³ Gaunt from poverty and hunger, they gnawed the dry land, and the desolate wasteland by night. ⁴ They plucked mallow among the shrubs, and the roots of the broom tree were their food. ⁵ They were banished from among men, shouted down like thieves, ⁶ so that they lived on the slopes of the wadis, among the rocks and in holes in the ground. ⁷ They cried out among the shrubs and huddled beneath the nettles. ⁸ A senseless and nameless brood, they were driven off the land. ⁹ And now they mock me in song; I have become a byword among them. ¹⁰ They abhor me and keep far from me; they do not hesitate to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because God has unstrung my bow and afflicted me, they have cast off restraint in my presence. ¹² The rabble arises at my right; they lay snares for my feet and build siege ramps against me.

²⁹ If I have rejoiced in my enemy’s ruin, or exulted when evil befell him—

² or they will shred my soul like a lion and tear me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

¹⁶ For dogs surround me; a band of evil men encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet.

⁸ May ruin befall them by surprise; may the net they hid ensnare them; may they fall into the hazard they created.

²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, just what we wanted!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up!” ²⁶ May those who gloat in my distress be ashamed and confounded; may those who exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach.

¹⁷ For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever with me.

⁸ “A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”

⁴ My soul is among the lions; I lie down with ravenous beasts—with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.

¹² Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of drunkards.

¹⁰ For my enemies speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life conspire, ¹¹ saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.”

⁵ He who mocks the poor insults their Maker; whoever gloats over calamity will not go unpunished.

¹⁷ Do not gloat when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart rejoice when he stumbles, ¹⁸ or the LORD will see and disapprove, and turn His wrath away from him.

¹⁰ For I have heard the whispering of many: “Terror is on every side! Report him; let us report him!” All my trusted friends watch for my fall: “Perhaps he will be deceived so that we may prevail against him and take our vengeance upon him.”

²⁷ Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company around Him. ²⁸ They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. ²⁹ And they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt down before Him to mock Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” ³⁰ Then they spit on Him and took the staff and struck Him on the head repeatedly.

³⁹ And those who passed by heaped abuse on Him, shaking their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” ⁴¹ In the same way, the chief priests, scribes, and elders mocked Him, saying, ⁴² “He saved others, but He cannot save Himself. He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him. ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver Him now if He wants Him. For He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” ⁴⁴ In the same way, even the robbers who were crucified with Him berated Him.

⁶⁵ Then some of them began to spit on Him. They blindfolded Him, struck Him with their fists, and said to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in His face.

⁵ The Jews, however, became jealous. So they brought in some troublemakers from the marketplace, formed a mob, and sent the city into an uproar. They raided Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas, hoping to bring them out to the people.

⁶ Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth.

²⁴ So David hid in the field, and when the New Moon had come, the king sat down to eat. ²⁵ He sat in his usual place by the wall, opposite Jonathan and beside Abner, but David’s place was empty. ²⁶ Saul said nothing that day because he thought, “Something has happened to David to make him ceremonially unclean—surely he is unclean.” ²⁷ But on the day after the New Moon, the second day, David’s place was still empty, and Saul asked his son Jonathan, “Why hasn’t the son of Jesse come to the meal either yesterday or today?” ²⁸ Jonathan answered, “David urgently requested my permission to go to Bethlehem, ²⁹ saying, ‘Please let me go, because our clan is holding a sacrifice in the city, and my brother has told me to be there. So now, if I have found favor in your eyes, please let me go and see my brothers.’ That is why he did not come to the king’s table.” ³⁰ Then Saul’s anger burned against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse and rebellious woman! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the disgrace of the mother who bore you? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives on this earth, neither you nor your kingship shall be established. Now send for him and bring him to me, for he must surely die!” ³² “Why must he be put to death?” Jonathan replied. “What has he done?” ³³ Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan to kill him; so Jonathan knew that his father was determined to kill David. ³⁴ Jonathan got up from the table in fierce anger and did not eat any food that second day of the month, for he was grieved by his father’s shameful treatment of David. ³⁵ In the morning Jonathan went out to the field for the appointment with David, and a small boy was with him. ³⁶ He said to the boy, “Run and find the arrows I shoot.” And as the boy ran, Jonathan shot an arrow beyond him. ³⁷ When the boy reached the place where Jonathan’s arrow had fallen, Jonathan called to him, “Isn’t the arrow beyond you?” ³⁸ Then Jonathan cried out, “Hurry! Make haste! Do not delay!” So the boy picked up the arrow and returned to his master. ³⁹ But the boy did not know anything; only Jonathan and David knew the arrangement. ⁴⁰ Then Jonathan gave his equipment to the boy and said, “Go, take it back to the city.” ⁴¹ When the young man had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone, fell facedown, and bowed three times. Then he and Jonathan kissed each other and wept together—though David wept more. ⁴² And Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, for the two of us have sworn in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘May the LORD be a witness between you and me, and between your descendants and mine forever.’” Then David got up and departed, and Jonathan went back into the city.

¹² The wicked scheme against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them,

¹⁴ I hate your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you multiply your prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.

¹⁶ All your enemies open their mouths against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth, saying, “We have swallowed her up. This is the day for which we have waited. We have lived to see it!”

²⁸ Then they led Jesus away from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. By now it was early morning, and the Jews did not enter the Praetorium, to avoid being defiled and unable to eat the Passover.

⁵⁴ On hearing this, the members of the Sanhedrin were enraged, and they gnashed their teeth at him.

⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old bread, leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and of truth.

³ My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long?

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? ² How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me?

²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of wild dogs. ²¹ Save me from the mouth of the lion; at the horns of the wild oxen You have answered me!

¹⁴ Rescue me from the mire and do not let me sink; deliver me from my foes and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Do not let the floods engulf me or the depths swallow me up; let not the Pit close its mouth over me.

⁹ There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer any prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last. ¹⁰ How long, O God, will the enemy taunt You? Will the foe revile Your name forever?

⁴⁶ How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath keep burning like fire?

³ How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked exult? ⁴ They pour out arrogant words; all workers of iniquity boast.

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me. ⁷ Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.

¹³ Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You tolerate the faithless? Why are You silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?

²² I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; I will praise You in the assembly. ²³ You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All descendants of Jacob, honor Him! All offspring of Israel, revere Him! ²⁴ For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He has not hidden His face from him, but has attended to his cry for help. ²⁵ My praise for You resounds in the great assembly; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear You.

³¹ They will come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn—all that He has done.

⁹ I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; behold, I do not seal my lips, as You, O LORD, do know. ¹⁰ I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly.

May God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah ² that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. ³ Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. ⁴ Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You judge the peoples justly and lead the nations of the earth. Selah

³⁰ I will praise God’s name in song and exalt Him with thanksgiving. ³¹ And this will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. ³² The humble will see and rejoice. You who seek God, let your hearts be revived! ³³ For the LORD listens to the needy and does not despise His captive people. ³⁴ Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them.

¹ Hallelujah! I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

¹⁴ I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.

¹⁸ I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,

¹ Praise the LORD, all you nations! Extol Him, all you peoples! ² For great is His loving devotion toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Hallelujah!

⁴ All the kings of the earth will give You thanks, O LORD, when they hear the words of Your mouth. ⁵ They will sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great.

³ Therefore, a strong people will honor You. The cities of ruthless nations will revere You.

⁹ so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.”

¹² He says: “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the assembly.”

¹¹ See, my father, look at the corner of your robe in my hand. For I cut it off, but I did not kill you. See and know that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands. I have not sinned against you, even though you are hunting me down to take my life. ¹² May the LORD judge between you and me, and may the LORD take vengeance on you, but my hand will never be against you.

¹² Why has your heart carried you away, and why do your eyes flash,

⁴ lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes rejoice when I fall.

² in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.

¹⁵ But when I stumbled, they assembled in glee; they gathered together against me. Assailants I did not know slandered me without ceasing.

¹⁶ For I said, “Let them not gloat over me—those who taunt me when my foot slips.”

¹⁹ Many are my enemies without cause, and many hate me without reason.

³ They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.

¹⁶¹ Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart fears only Your word.

¹³ winking his eyes, speaking with his feet, and pointing with his fingers.

¹⁰ He who winks the eye causes grief, and foolish lips will come to ruin.

⁵² Without cause my enemies hunted me like a bird.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I tell you, you will weep and wail while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. ²¹ A woman has pain in childbirth because her time has come; but when she brings forth her child, she forgets her anguish because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. ²² So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

⁷ When the two witnesses have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will wage war with them, and will overpower and kill them. ⁸ Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city—figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where their Lord was also crucified. ⁹ For three and a half days all peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will view their bodies and will not permit them to be laid in a tomb. ¹⁰ And those who dwell on the earth will gloat over them, and will celebrate and send one another gifts, because these two prophets had tormented them.

¹³ For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side. They conspire against me and plot to take my life.

³ The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and well-doing. ⁴ Even on his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is not good; he fails to reject evil.

² Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.

⁴ ambushing the innocent in seclusion, shooting suddenly, without fear. ⁵ They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say. ⁶ They devise injustice and say, “We have perfected a secret plan.” For the inner man and the heart are mysterious.

⁵ Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! ⁶ Too long have I dwelt among those who hate peace. ⁷ I am in favor of peace; but when I speak, they want war.

² who devise evil in their hearts and stir up war all day long. ³ They sharpen their tongues like snakes; the venom of vipers is on their lips. Selah ⁴ Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked. Keep me safe from men of violence who scheme to make me stumble. ⁵ The proud hide a snare for me; the cords of their net are spread along the path, and lures are set out for me. Selah

¹⁹ For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had plotted against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”

⁵ Finally these men said, “We will never find any charge against this Daniel, unless we find something against him concerning the law of his God.”

¹⁹ He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.”

⁴ and they conspired to arrest Jesus covertly and kill Him.

¹⁵ Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”

³ to grant them a concession against Paul by summoning him to Jerusalem, because they were preparing an ambush to kill him along the way.

²² “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.” ²³ When they heaped abuse on Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.

¹³ They open their jaws against me like lions that roar and maul.

¹⁵ May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

⁷ For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes.

³ May those who say, “Aha, aha!” retreat because of their shame.

¹² Aram from the east and Philistia from the west have devoured Israel with open mouths. Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.

⁵³ As Jesus went on from there, the scribes and Pharisees began to oppose Him bitterly and to ply Him with questions about many things, ⁵⁴ waiting to catch Him in something He might say.

⁷ The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the affliction of My people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings.

¹ Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

¹¹ Be not far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.

¹⁹ But You, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.

¹ Of David. To You, O LORD, I call; be not deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent, I will be like those descending to the Pit.

²¹ Do not forsake me, O LORD; be not far from me, O my God.

¹² Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. For I am a foreigner dwelling with You, a stranger like all my fathers.

²¹ You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But now I rebuke you and accuse you to your face.

¹² Be not far from me, O God. Hurry, O my God, to help me.

¹ A song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, be not silent; be not speechless; be not still, O God.

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will pay it back into their laps,

³⁴ I have indeed seen the oppression of My people in Egypt. I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.’

⁶ Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against the fury of my enemies. Awake, my God, and ordain judgment.

²³ Wake up, O Lord! Why are You sleeping? Arise! Do not reject us forever.

⁴ For no fault of my own, they move swiftly to attack me. Arise to help me, and take notice.

² before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your mighty power and come to save us.

²⁶ He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock of my salvation.’

⁵ I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD. Wake up as in days past, as in generations of old. Was it not You who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced through the dragon?

²⁸ Thomas replied, “My Lord and my God!”

⁵ the triumph of the wicked has been brief and the joy of the godless momentary?

⁸ The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and integrity.

²⁰ The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; He has repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes. ²³ And I have been blameless before Him and kept myself from iniquity. ²⁴ So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.

¹ Of David. Vindicate me, O LORD! For I have walked with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.

¹⁹ Let not my enemies gloat over me without cause, nor those who hate me without reason wink in malice.

⁶ After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

²² “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.”

⁹ The enemy declared, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’

¹⁹ I am among the peaceable and faithful in Israel, but you are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the LORD’s inheritance?”

⁵ And when the days of feasting were over, Job would send for his children to purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.

³ Do not drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors while malice is in their hearts.

³ He reaches down from heaven and saves me; He rebukes those who trample me. Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His truth.

⁸ They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely.” They burned down every place where God met us in the land.

³ when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,

⁸ Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; do not promote their evil plans, lest they be exalted. Selah

⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver Him now if He wants Him. For He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

⁶ But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking in their hearts,

⁸ At once Jesus knew in His spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves. “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?” He asked.

⁵⁴ When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

²² Your enemies will be clothed in shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”

⁵ If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me and use my disgrace against me,

⁴ May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plan to harm me be driven back and confounded.

¹² For it is not an enemy who insults me; that I could endure. It is not a foe who rises against me; from him I could hide.

¹³ May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace.

²⁸ Though they curse, You will bless. When they rise up, they will be put to shame, but Your servant will rejoice. ²⁹ May my accusers be clothed with disgrace; may they wear their shame like a robe.

¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”

¹¹ Behold, all who rage against you will be ashamed and disgraced; those who contend with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish.

¹³ Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame. ¹⁴ My servants will shout for joy with a glad heart, but you will cry out with a heavy heart and wail with a broken spirit. ¹⁵ You will leave behind your name as a curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will slay you; but to His servants He will give another name.

²⁶ “Make him drunk, because he has magnified himself against the LORD; so Moab will wallow in his own vomit, and he will also become a laughingstock.

³⁶ Then the king will do as he pleases and will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and he will speak monstrous things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been decreed must be accomplished.

⁵ Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

⁴ For You have upheld my just cause; You sit on Your throne judging righteously.

¹¹ Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

¹⁶ May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “The LORD be magnified!”

³ But the righteous will be glad and rejoice before God; they will celebrate with joy.

⁴ May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “Let God be magnified!”

⁹ May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy.

¹⁶ I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will sing out in joy.

⁷ Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.

¹¹ The LORD is pleased with those who fear Him, who hope in His loving devotion.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation.

¹⁸ With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and righteousness.

¹⁰ Be glad for Jerusalem and rejoice over her, all who love her. Rejoice greatly with her, all who mourn over her, ¹¹ so that you may nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you may drink deeply and delight yourselves in her glorious abundance.

⁴⁰ I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never turn away from doing good to them, and I will put My fear in their hearts, so that they will never turn away from Me. ⁴¹ Yes, I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.

¹⁴ Sing for joy, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem!

¹⁷ The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”

²² So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.

²⁶ If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness. ¹⁵ O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.

¹⁵ My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure.

³³ I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. ³⁴ May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
