²⁹ The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

¹ Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

⁴¹ They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—to the LORD, but He did not answer.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry. ¹⁶ But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to wipe out all memory of them from the earth. ¹⁷ The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles.

¹⁸ If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. ¹⁹ But God has surely heard; He has attended to the sound of my prayer.

²⁷ Those far from You will surely perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You.

⁶ Though the LORD is on high, He attends to the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.

¹⁸ The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call out to Him in truth. ¹⁹ He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

⁸ “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. ⁹ “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

⁴⁶ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

³¹ We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will.

²⁶ In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. ²⁷ And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

¹² remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. ¹⁸ Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth yielded its crops.
