¹² Behold, you are not right in this matter. I will answer you, for God is greater than man.

²² In all this, Job did not sin or charge God with wrongdoing.

⁴ God is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has resisted Him and prospered?

¹⁴ Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”

¹⁷ I too will answer; yes, I will declare what I know.

¹⁰ Therefore listen to me, O men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wrong, and from the Almighty to act unjustly. ¹¹ For according to a man’s deeds He repays him; according to a man’s ways He brings consequences. ¹² Indeed, it is true that God does not act wickedly, and the Almighty does not pervert justice.

¹⁷ Could one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn the just and mighty One, ¹⁸ who says to kings, ‘You are worthless!’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’ ¹⁹ who is not partial to princes and does not favor rich over poor? For they are all the work of His hands.

²³ For God need not examine a man further or have him approach for judgment.

⁴ I will reply to you and to your friends as well.

⁵ Indeed, God is mighty, but He despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

²² Behold, God is exalted in His power. Who is a teacher like Him? ²³ Who has appointed His way for Him, or told Him, ‘You have done wrong’?

² “Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who argues with God give an answer.”

⁸ Would you really annul My justice? Would you condemn Me to justify yourself? ⁹ Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like His?

²⁰ Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.

⁶ “O house of Israel, declares the LORD, can I not treat you as this potter treats his clay? Just like clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.

²⁵ Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

¹⁹ One of you will say to me, “Then why does God still find fault? For who can resist His will?” ²⁰ But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, “Why did You make me like this?” ²¹ Does not the potter have the right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use?
