⁹ Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

¹³ If anyone returns evil for good, evil will never leave his house.

²² Do not say, “I will avenge this evil!” Wait on the LORD, and He will save you.

³⁹ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also;

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

¹⁷ As Jesus started on His way, a man ran up and knelt before Him. “Good Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁷ But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, ²⁸ bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. ²⁹ If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.

²⁵ One day an expert in the law stood up to test Him. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸ Then a certain ruler asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁸ And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

³⁰ And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.

¹⁷ Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody.

¹⁹ Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” ²⁰ On the contrary, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head.” ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹² We work hard with our own hands. When we are vilified, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; ¹³ when we are slandered, we answer gently. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

³² Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

¹⁵ Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.

¹⁴ saying, “I will surely bless you and multiply your descendants.”

²⁰ How is it to your credit if you are beaten for doing wrong and you endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. ²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps: ²² “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.” ²³ When they heaped abuse on Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.

¹⁰ And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore you, secure you, strengthen you, and establish you.
