⁹ And I once was alive apart from Law; but the commandment having come, sin revived, and I died;

²¹ You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘You shall not murder’ and ‘Whoever shall murder will be liable to the judgment.’ ²² But I say to you that everyone being angry with his brother will be liable to the judgment, and whoever shall say to his brother ‘Raca,’ will be liable to the Sanhedrin. But whoever shall say, ‘Fool!’ will be liable to the Gehenna of fire. ²³ Therefore, if you shall offer your gift at the altar, and there shall remember that your brother has something against you, ²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar and first go away, be reconciled to your brother; and then having come, offer your gift. ²⁵ Be agreeing quickly with your accuser while you are on the way with him, lest ever the accuser deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you will be cast into prison. ²⁶ Truly I say to you, you shall not come out from there until you should pay the last kodranten!

⁴ For God commanded, ‘Honor the Father and mother’ and, ‘The one speaking evil of father or mother, in death must end!’ ⁵ But you say, ‘Whoever shall say to the father or mother, “Whatever you might be profited by me is a gift,” ⁶ he shall not honor his father or his mother.’ And you made void the commandment of God on account of your tradition!

²⁰ The young man says to him, “All these things I have kept. What do I still lack?”

⁸ Having neglected the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” ⁹ And He was saying to them, “Neatly do you set aside the commandment of God, that you might keep your tradition. ¹⁰ For Moses said, ‘Honor your Father and your mother,’ and, ‘The one speaking evil of father or mother must surely die.’ ¹¹ But you say that if a man says to the father or the mother, ‘Whatever you might be profited from me, it is Corban,’ that is, a gift, ¹² no longer do you permit him to do anything for the father or the mother, ¹³ making void the word of God for your tradition, which you have handed down. And you do many things like such.”

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing Him, saying, “Teacher, what having done, will I inherit eternal life?” ²⁶ And He said to him, “What has been written in the Law? How do you read it?” ²⁷ And answering, he said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind’ and ‘Your neighbor as yourself.’” ²⁸ And He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.” ²⁹ But desiring to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

²⁹ And answering, he said to his father, ‘Behold, so many years I serve you, and never did I disobey a commandment of yours; and never did you give to me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

⁹ And He also spoke this parable to some trusting in themselves that they are righteous, and despising others: ¹⁰ “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee having stood, was praying toward himself thus: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like the rest of the men—swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe all things, as many as I gain.’

²¹ And he said, “All these have I kept from my youth.”

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those under the Law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be under judgment to God. ²⁰ Therefore by works of the Law, not any flesh will be justified before Him; for through the Law is knowledge of sin.

⁴ Likewise, my brothers, you also have been put to death to the Law through the body of Christ, for you to belong to another, to the One having been raised out from the dead, so that we should bear fruit to God.

⁶ But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that which we were bound, in order for us to serve in newness of the Spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

¹¹ For sin, having taken an occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it put me to death.

²¹ So I find the principle in my desiring to do good, that evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man; ²³ but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and making me captive to the law of sin being in my members.

⁷ because the mind of the flesh is hostility toward God; for it is not subject to the Law of God, for not even can it be.

⁵ For Moses writes of the righteousness that is of the Law that “The man having done these things will live by them.”

¹⁹ For through the Law I died to the Law that I might live to God.

¹⁰ For as many as are of works of the Law are under a curse, for it has been written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue all things having been written in the book of the Law, to do them.”

⁵ circumcision on the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; according to the Law, a Pharisee; ⁶ according to zeal, persecuting the church; according to righteousness in the Law, having become faultless.

¹⁰ For whoever shall keep the whole Law, but shall stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For the One having said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” But if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the Law.
