Matthew 20 Cross References - BLB

1 For the kingdom of the heavens is like to a man, a master of a house, who went out in the morning to hire workmen for his vineyard. 2 And having agreed with the workmen on a denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And having gone out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and I will give you whatever might be right.’ 5 And they went. And having gone out again about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh having gone out, he found others standing, and says to them, ‘Why do you stand here all the day idle?’ 7 They say to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He says to them, ‘You go also into the vineyard.’ 8 And evening having arrived, the master of the vineyard says to his foreman, ‘Call the workmen and pay them the wages, having begun from the last, up to the first.’ 9 And those hired about the eleventh hour having come, they received a denarius each. 10 And the first having come, they thought that they will receive more, but they themselves also received a denarius each. 11 And having received it, they were grumbling against the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These the last have worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us, the ones having borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ 13 And answering one of them, he said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go; and I desire to give to this last, as to you also. 15 Or is it not lawful for me to do what I will with that which is mine? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?’ 16 Thus the last will be first, and the first, last.” 17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside themselves on the way, and said to them, 18 “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death. 19 And they will betray Him to the Gentiles to mock and to flog and to crucify; and the third day He will rise again.” 20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. 21 And He said to her, “What do you desire?” She says to Him, “Say that these two sons of mine might sit, one on Your right hand and one on Your left hand, in Your kingdom.” 22 And Jesus answering, said, “You do not know what you ask for. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink?” They say to Him, “We are able.” 23 He says to them, “Indeed you will drink My cup, but to sit on My right hand and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” 24 And the ten having heard this, were indignant about the two brothers. 25 And Jesus having summoned them, said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and the great ones exercise authority over them. 26 Thus will it not be among you. But whoever wishes to become great among you, he will be your servant; 27 and whoever wishes to be first among you, he will be your slave— 28 even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” 29 And as they were going out from Jericho, a great crowd followed Him. 30 And behold, two blind men sitting beside the road, having heard that Jesus is passing by, cried out saying, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 31 And the crowd rebuked them that they should be silent. But they cried out all the more, saying, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 32 And Jesus having stopped, called them and said, “What do you desire I should do unto you?” 33 They say to Him, “Lord, that our eyes might be opened.” 34 And having been moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they received sight, and they followed Him.

For practicing these things, never at any time shall you stumble.

Romans 6:16-22

16 Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that you who were slaves of sin have now become obedient from the heart to the pattern of teaching to which you were committed. 18 And having been set free from sin, you have become slaves to righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms on account of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you yielded your members in bondage to impurity and to lawlessness unto lawlessness, so now yield your members in bondage to righteousness unto sanctification. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit, therefore, did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now, having been set free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

23 Are they servants of Christ? I speak as being beside myself, I too above measure: more abundantly in labors, more abundantly in imprisonments, in beatings above measure, in deaths often. 24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I have passed a night and a day in the deep sea; 26 in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers; in perils from my own race, in perils from the Gentiles; in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness; in perils on the sea, in perils among false brothers; 27 in labor and toil, often in watchings; in hunger and thirst, often in fastings; in cold and nakedness. 28 Besides the external things, the pressure on me on every day is my care for all the churches.

2 Corinthians 10:4-10

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but divinely powerful toward the demolition of strongholds, 5 overthrowing arguments, and every high thing lifting itself up against the knowledge of God, and taking captive every thought into the obedience of Christ, 6 and having readiness within to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience may have been fulfilled. 7 You are looking at things according to appearance. If anyone is persuaded in himself to be of Christ, let him reckon this within himself again, that as he is of Christ, so also are we. 8 For even if I should boast somewhat more abundantly concerning our authority, which the Lord has given us for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be ashamed, 9 so that I might not seem as if to frighten you by means of the letters. 10 For they say, “The letters indeed are weighty and strong, but the presence of the body is weak, and the speech having been ignored.”

Revelation 13:11-17

11 And I saw another beast rising out of the earth, and it had two horns like a lamb, and it was speaking like a dragon. 12 And it exercises all the authority of the first beast in the presence of it, and causes the earth and those dwelling in it, that they will worship the first beast, of whom its fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it works great signs, so that it should even cause fire out of heaven to come down to the earth in the presence of men. 14 And it deceives those dwelling on the earth, by reason of the signs that were given to it to perform before the beast, telling those dwelling on the earth to make an image to the beast that has the wound of the sword and has lived. 15 And there was given to it to give breath to the image of the beast, so that image of the beast also should speak, and should cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast would be killed. 16 And it causes all the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the servants, that it should give them a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17 and that no one should be able to buy or to sell, if not the one having the mark—the name of the beast, or the number of its name.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

To those under the Law, as under the Law (myself not being under the Law) so that I might win those under the Law. 21 To those outside the Law, as outside the Law (not being outside the law of God, but under the law of Christ) so that I might win those outside the Law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all these things to all, so that by all means I might save some. 23 Now I do all things on account of the gospel, that I might become a fellow partaker with it.

2 Corinthians 11:23-27

50 nor do you consider that it is profitable for you that one man should die for the people, and the whole nation should not perish.” 51 Now he did not say this from himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but also that children of God, those having been scattered, He might gather together into one.

4 He rises from the supper and lays aside the garments. And having taken a towel, He girded Himself. 5 After that, He pours water into the basin, and He began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He comes to Simon Peter, who says to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do, you do not know presently, but you will know after these things.” 8 Peter says to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet, to the age.” Jesus answered him, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.” 9 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.” 10 Jesus says to him, “The one having been bathed has no need to wash, except the feet, but is wholly clean. And you all are clean, but not all.” 11 For He knew the one who was betraying Him; on account of this He said, “You are not all clean.”

15 But so also the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one, the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gift in grace, which is of the one man Jesus Christ, abound to the many! 16 And the gift is not as through one having sinned. For truly the judgment from one was unto condemnation; but the gift is out of many trespasses unto justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one, how much more will those receiving the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ! 18 So then, just as through one trespass, it is unto condemnation to all men, so also through one act of righteousness it is unto justification of life to all men. 19 For as indeed through the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One, the many will be made righteous.
