⁶ And Jesus was going with them. And already, He being not far distant from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. ⁷ Therefore neither did I count myself worthy to come to You; but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

¹³ being formerly a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and insolent; but I was shown mercy, because I did it in unbelief, being ignorant. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord surpassingly increased with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Trustworthy is the saying, and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. ¹⁶ But because of this I was shown mercy, that in me, the foremost, Christ Jesus might display perfect patience, as a pattern for those being about to believe on Him to eternal life.

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and have purified hearts, you double-minded. ⁹ Be grieved and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and the joy to gloom. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

⁶ Be humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time,
