³⁸ Pilate says to Him, “What is truth?” And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and says to them, “I find no guilt in Him.

¹⁸ For he knew that they had delivered Him up through envy. ¹⁹ And as he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Nothing to you and that righteous man; for I suffered many things in a dream today because of Him.”

²⁴ And Pilate having seen that it availed nothing, but rather a riot is arising, having taken water, washed the hands before the crowd, saying, “I am guiltless of the blood of this man. For yourselves you will see.”

¹⁴ And Pilate was saying to them, “Why? What evil did He commit?” But they shouted much more, “Crucify Him!”

⁴ And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no guilt in this man.”

¹⁴ said to them, “You brought to me this man as one misleading the people; and behold, having examined Him before you, I found nothing in this man guilty of that accusation you are bringing against Him. ¹⁵ No, not even Herod did; for he sent Him back to us. And behold, nothing worthy of death is done by Him. ¹⁶ Therefore having chastised Him, I will release Him.”

⁴ And Pilate went forth outside again and says to them, “Behold, I bring Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him.”

⁶ Therefore when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate says to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.”

²¹ Therefore the chief priests of the Jews were saying to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that He said, ‘I am King of the Jews.’” ²² Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

¹⁹ And having taken hold of him they brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “Are we able to know what is this new teaching which is spoken by you. ²⁰ For you are bringing some strange things to our ears. We resolve therefore to know what these things wish to be.”

²² “Who committed no sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth.” ²³ Who being reviled did not retaliate; suffering did not threaten, but He gave Himself over to Him judging justly.
