¹⁸ For in that He Himself has suffered, having been tempted, He is able to help those being tempted.

¹ Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil. ² And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. ³ And the one tempting, having come to Him, said “If You are Son of God, speak, that these stones may become loaves of bread.” ⁴ But answering He said, “It has been written: ‘The man shall live not by bread alone, but by every word coming out of the mouth of God.’” ⁵ Then the devil takes Him to the holy city and sets Him upon the pinnacle of the temple, ⁶ and says to him, “If You are Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it has been written: ‘He will give orders to His angels concerning You, and will they bear You up in their hands, lest ever You strike Your foot against a stone.’” ⁷ Jesus said to him, “Again it has been written: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God.’” ⁸ Again the devil takes Him to a mountain exceedingly high and shows to Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. ⁹ And he says to Him, “All these things I will give to You, if falling down, You will worship me.” ¹⁰ Then Jesus says to him, “Get you away, Satan! For it has been written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.’”

³⁷ And having taken with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. ³⁸ Then He says to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch with Me.” ³⁹ And having gone forward a little, He fell upon His face, praying, and saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Nevertheless not as I will, but as You.”

⁵³ Every day of Me being with you in the temple, you did not stretch out the hands against Me; but this is your hour, and the power of the darkness.”

²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all, and no one is able to seize them out of the Father’s hand.

¹³ No temptation has seized you, except what is common to man. And God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also provide with the temptation the escape, to be able to endure it.

⁷ and the surpassingness of the revelations. Therefore, that I should not become conceited, a thorn in my flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan, that he might buffet me, so that I should not become conceited. ⁸ Three times I begged the Lord for this, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said to me, “My grace suffices you, for the power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore will I boast rather most gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and difficulties for Christ; for when I might be weak, then I am strong.

²¹ who will transform our body of humiliation, conformed to the body of His glory, according to the working enabling Him even to subdue all things to Himself.

¹² For this reason I also suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit entrusted for that day.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest not being able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one having been tempted in all things by the same way, without sin. ¹⁶ Therefore we should come with boldness to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

² being able to exercise forbearance with those being ignorant and going astray, since he himself also is encompassed by weakness;

⁷ He in the days of His flesh, having offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One being able to save Him from death, and having been heard because of reverent submission, ⁸ though being a Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered, ⁹ and having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all those obeying Him,

²⁵ wherefore also He is able to save to the uttermost those drawing near to God through Him, always living for to intercede for them. ²⁶ For such a high priest indeed was fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and having become higher than the heavens,

⁹ then the Lord knows to deliver the devout out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous being punished unto the day of judgment,

²⁴ Now to Him being able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless in the presence of His glory, with exultation—

¹⁰ Because you have kept the word of My patient endurance, I also will keep you out of the hour of the trial being about to come upon the whole inhabited world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.
