¹⁶ Now I say, walk by the Spirit, and you should not gratify the desires of the flesh.

¹² Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, in order to obey its desires.

¹ Therefore there is now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.

⁴ so that the righteousness of the Law should be fulfilled in us not walking according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. ⁵ For those being according to flesh mind the things of the flesh; but those according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

¹² So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh. ¹³ For if you live according to flesh, you are about to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

¹³ We should walk properly, as in daytime; not in reveling and drinking, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in dissension and jealousy. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.

²⁹ Now I say this, brothers: The season is shortened; that from now on both those having wives, should be as having none;

¹ Therefore having these promises, beloved, we should cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹⁷ Now I say this: The Law, having come four hundred and thirty years afterward, does not annul the covenant having been confirmed beforehand by God, so as to nullify the promise.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, contentions, dissensions, factions, ²¹ envyings, drunkennesses, carousing, and things like these, as to which I forewarn you, even as I warned before, that those doing such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

²⁴ Now those of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, we should also walk by the Spirit.

⁸ For the one sowing to his own flesh, from the flesh will reap decay. But the one sowing to the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

³ among whom we all also once lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of its thoughts; and we were by nature children of wrath even as the rest.

¹¹ in whom also you were circumcised with the circumcision made without hands in the removal of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,

⁵ Therefore put to death the members which are upon the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry, ⁶ because of which things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience, ⁷ in which you also once walked when you were living in them. ⁸ But now you also put off all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, foul language out of your mouth. ⁹ Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his practices, ¹⁰ and having put on the new, the one being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one having created him,

¹⁴ as children of obedience, not being conformed to the passions in your former ignorance.

²² Having purified your souls in obedience to the truth unto sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently, out of a pure heart,

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort you as aliens and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly desires, which war against the soul,

¹ Therefore Christ having suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because the one having suffered in the flesh is done with sin, ² so as to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer to men’s desires, but to the will of God. ³ For the time past is sufficient to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having walked in sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ With respect to this, they think it strange of you not running with them into the same overflow of debauchery, speaking evil of you,

⁶ For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.

¹⁵ Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone should love the world, the love of the Father is not in him, ¹⁶ because all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the vaunting of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

¹⁹ These are those causing divisions, worldly-minded, not having the Spirit. ²⁰ But you, beloved, building up yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
