²¹ Be submitting yourselves to one another in reverence of Christ:

¹ Let every soul be subject to the authorities being above him. For there is no authority except by God; but those existing are having been instituted by God. ² Therefore the one rebelling against the authority has resisted the ordinance of God, and those having resisted will bring judgment upon themselves. ³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Now do you desire not to fear the authority? Do the good, and you will have praise from him. ⁴ For he is God’s servant to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For He is God’s servant, an avenger for wrath to the one doing evil. ⁵ Therefore it is necessary to be subject, not only on account of wrath, but also on account of the conscience.

¹⁶ that you also be subject to such as these, and to everyone joining in the work and laboring.

¹ Therefore having these promises, beloved, we should cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹³ For you brothers were called to freedom, but not the freedom for an opportunity to the flesh. Rather, serve one another through love.

²² wives, to the own husbands as to the Lord;

²⁴ But even as the church is subjected to Christ, so also wives to the own husbands in everything.

³ nothing according to self-interest or according to vain conceit, but in humility be esteeming one another surpassing themselves,

¹¹ Let a woman learn in quietness, in all submissiveness.

⁴ managing the own house well, having children in submission, with all dignity—

¹⁷ Obey you those leading and be submissive—for they watch over your souls, as about to give account—so that they may do this with joy and not groaning, for this is unprofitable for you.

¹³ Be in subjection to every human institution for the sake of the Lord, whether to the king as being supreme,

¹⁷ Honor everyone: love the brotherhood, fear God, Honor the king.

⁵ Likewise, younger ones, be subject to your elders. And all, gird on humility one to another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
