¹⁸ and not to be drunk with wine in which is debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit,

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of greed and intemperance.

⁴⁹ and should begin to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and to drink with those being drunkards,

¹⁵ For he will be great before the Lord. And he shall never drink wine and strong drink, and he will be full of the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.

¹³ Therefore if you, being evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him!”

⁴⁵ But if that servant should say in his heart, ‘My master delays to come,’ and should begin to beat the men-servants and the maid-servants, and to eat and to drink and to get drunk,

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts ever be burdened with dissipation and drunkenness and the cares of life—and that day would come upon you suddenly as a snare.

¹³ But others mocking were saying, “They are full of new wine.” ¹⁴ But Peter, having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them: “Men of Judea and all those inhabiting Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words. ¹⁵ For these are not drunkards as you suppose, for it is the third hour of the day. ¹⁶ But this is that having been spoken by the prophet Joel: ¹⁷ ‘And it will be in the last days, God says, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your elders will dream dreams. ¹⁸ And even upon My servants, and upon My handmaidens, I will pour out of My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

²⁴ For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large crowd was added to the Lord.

¹³ We should walk properly, as in daytime; not in reveling and drinking, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in dissension and jealousy.

¹¹ But now, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone being designated a brother if he is sexually immoral or a coveter, or an idolater or verbal abuser, or a drunkard or swindler—with such a one not even to eat.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor coveters, not drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

²¹ For in eating, one takes first the own supper. And indeed this one is hungry, but that one is drunken.

⁶ if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having believing children, not under accusation of debauchery, or insubordinate.

³ For the time past is sufficient to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having walked in sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ With respect to this, they think it strange of you not running with them into the same overflow of debauchery, speaking evil of you,
