¹⁸ (Then indeed this man acquired a field out of the reward of unrighteousness, and having fallen headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.

¹⁵ And indeed to one he gave five talents; and to one, two; and to one, one; to each according to his own ability. And he left the region immediately.

¹⁴ Then one of the Twelve, the one being called Judas Iscariot, having gone to the chief priests, ¹⁵ said, “What are you willing to give me, and I will betray Him to you?” And they appointed to him thirty pieces of silver.

³ Then Judas, the one having delivered Him up, having seen that He was condemned, having regretted it, he returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ saying, “I sinned, having betrayed innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You will see.” ⁵ And having cast down the pieces of silver into the temple, he withdrew, and having gone away, hanged himself. ⁶ And the chief priests, having taken the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.” ⁷ And having taken counsel, they bought with them the potter’s field, for a burial place for strangers. ⁸ Therefore that field was called Field of Blood, to this day. ⁹ Then was fulfilled that having been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the One having been priced, whom they set a price on by the sons of Israel, ¹⁰ and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”

¹⁵ Having forsaken the straight way, they have gone astray, having followed in the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wage of unrighteousness. ¹⁶ But he had reproof for his own transgression by a mute donkey; having spoken in a man’s voice, it restrained the madness of the prophet.
