⁴⁵ But the Jews, having seen the crowds, were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men. For you neither enter, nor even do you allow those who are entering to go in.

¹⁸ For he knew that they had delivered Him up through envy.

²⁵ And his elder son was in the field, and while coming up, he drew near to the house; he heard music and dancing. ²⁶ And having called near one of the servants, he began inquiring what these things might be. ²⁷ And he said to him, ‘Your brother is come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him in good health.’ ²⁸ But he was angry, and was not willing to go in. And his father, having gone, was begging him. ²⁹ And answering, he said to his father, ‘Behold, so many years I serve you, and never did I disobey a commandment of yours; and never did you give to me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. ³⁰ But when this son of yours came, the one having devoured your living with prostitutes, you have killed the fattened calf for him!’

¹⁷ But the high priest, having risen up, and all those with him (being the sect of the Sadducees) were filled with jealousy,

⁹ But certain of those from the synagogue called Freedmen, including Cyrenians and Alexandrians and of those from Cilicia and Asia, arose, disputing with Stephen. ¹⁰ And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by whom he was speaking.

⁵ Now the Jews having become jealous, and having taken to them certain wicked men of the market-loungers, and having collected a crowd, set the city in uproar. And having assailed the house of Jason, they were seeking them to bring out to the people.

⁶ But of them opposing and reviling him, having shaken out the garments, he said to them, “Your blood be upon your head; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

⁹ But when some were hardened and were disbelieving, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, having departed from them, he took the disciples separately, reasoning every day in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness; gossips,

³ for you are still fleshly. For where jealousy and strife are among you, are you not fleshly, and are walking according to man?

²¹ envyings, drunkennesses, carousing, and things like these, as to which I forewarn you, even as I warned before, that those doing such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, so as always to fill up their sins. Now the wrath has come upon them to the utmost.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and self-interest in your heart, do not boast of it and lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This is not the wisdom coming down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and self-interest exist, there will be disorder and every evil thing.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit that He has made to dwell in us yearns with envy”?

⁴ With respect to this, they think it strange of you not running with them into the same overflow of debauchery, speaking evil of you,

¹⁰ But these indeed speak evil of whatever things they have not seen; and whatever things they understand naturally, as the irrational animals, in these things they corrupt themselves.
