¹¹ And because of this, God will send to them a working of delusion, for them to believe what is false,

⁵ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many.

¹¹ and many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray.

³⁹ Because of this, they were not able to believe, for again Isaiah said: ⁴⁰ “He has blinded their eyes, and has hardened their heart, that they should not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn, and I will heal them.” ⁴¹ Isaiah said these things because he saw His glory and spoke concerning Him. ⁴² Nevertheless, indeed many even of the rulers believed in Him, but on account of the Pharisees they were not confessing, so that they might not be put out of the synagogue. ⁴³ For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

²¹ For having known God, they glorified Him not as God, or were thankful; but they became futile in their thinking and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Professing to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and they changed the glory of the immortal God into a likeness of an image of mortal man and birds and quadrupeds and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity to dishonor their bodies between themselves, ²⁵ who changed the truth of God into falsehood, and reverenced and served the created thing beyond the One having created it, who is blessed to the ages! Amen.

²⁸ And as they did not see fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do things not being proper;

³ For our exhortation was not of error, nor of impurity, nor in trickery;

¹ But the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,
