¹ Καί (And) τινες (certain ones) κατελθόντες (having come down) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Ἰουδαίας (Judea) ἐδίδασκον (were teaching) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) ὅτι (-), “Ἐὰν (If) μὴ (not) περιτμηθῆτε (you are circumcised) τῷ (according to the) ἔθει (custom) τῷ (-) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), οὐ (not) δύνασθε (you are able) σωθῆναι (to be saved).”

²⁴ Ἐπειδὴ (Inasmuch as) ἠκούσαμεν (we have heard) ὅτι (that) τινὲς (some) ἐξ (from) ἡμῶν (us) ‹ἐξελθόντες› (went out) ἐτάραξαν (troubled) ὑμᾶς (you) λόγοις (by words), ἀνασκευάζοντες (upsetting) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (minds) ὑμῶν (of you), οἷς (to whom) οὐ (not) διεστειλάμεθα (we had given instructions),

²⁹ ἐγὼ (I) οἶδα (know) ὅτι (that) εἰσελεύσονται (will come in) μετὰ (after) τὴν (the) ἄφιξίν (departure) μου (of me) λύκοι (wolves) βαρεῖς (grievous) εἰς (among) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) φειδόμενοι (sparing) τοῦ (the) ποιμνίου (flock),

¹⁷ Παρακαλῶ (I exhort) δὲ (now) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), σκοπεῖν (to watch out for) τοὺς (those) τὰς (-) διχοστασίας (divisions) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) σκάνδαλα (obstacles) παρὰ (contrary to) τὴν (the) διδαχὴν (teaching) ἣν (that) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐμάθετε (have learned) ποιοῦντας (causing), καὶ (and) ἐκκλίνετε (turn away) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them). ¹⁸ οἱ (-) γὰρ (For) τοιοῦτοι (such) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Χριστῷ (Christ) οὐ (not) δουλεύουσιν (serve), ἀλλὰ (but) τῇ (the) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves) κοιλίᾳ (belly); καὶ (and) διὰ (by) τῆς (-) χρηστολογίας (smooth talk) καὶ (and) εὐλογίας (flattery) ἐξαπατῶσιν (they deceive) τὰς (the) καρδίας (hearts) τῶν (of the) ἀκάκων (naive).

¹² Ὃ (What) δὲ (however) ποιῶ (I do), καὶ (also) ποιήσω (I will do), ἵνα (so that) ἐκκόψω (I might cut off) τὴν (the) ἀφορμὴν (opportunity) τῶν (of those) θελόντων (desiring) ἀφορμήν (an opportunity) ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) ᾧ (what) καυχῶνται (they are boasting), εὑρεθῶσιν (they might be found) καθὼς (as) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we). ¹³ οἱ (-) γὰρ (For) τοιοῦτοι (such are) ψευδαπόστολοι (false apostles), ἐργάται (workers) δόλιοι (deceitful), μετασχηματιζόμενοι (disguising themselves) εἰς (as) ἀποστόλους (apostles) Χριστοῦ (of Christ). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) οὐ (no) θαῦμα (wonder); αὐτὸς (himself) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) μετασχηματίζεται (masquerades) εἰς (as) ἄγγελον (an angel) φωτός (of light). ¹⁵ οὐ (It is not) μέγα (surprising) οὖν (therefore), εἰ (if) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) διάκονοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of him) μετασχηματίζονται (masquerade) ὡς (as) διάκονοι (servants) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness), ὧν (whose) τὸ (-) τέλος (end) ἔσται (will be) κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁶ Θαυμάζω (I am astonished) ὅτι (that) οὕτως (so) ταχέως (quickly) μετατίθεσθε (you are deserting) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the One) καλέσαντος (having called) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) χάριτι (the grace) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), εἰς (to) ἕτερον (a different) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel), ⁷ ὃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἄλλο (another); εἰ (if) μή (not) τινές (some) εἰσιν (there are) οἱ (who) ταράσσοντες (are troubling) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) θέλοντες (are desiring) μεταστρέψαι (to pervert) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ). ⁸ Ἀλλὰ (But) καὶ (even) ἐὰν (if) ἡμεῖς (we) ἢ (or) ἄγγελος (an angel) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) εὐαγγελίζηται* (should preach a gospel) ὑμῖν (to you) παρ’ (contrary to) ὃ (what) εὐηγγελισάμεθα (we proclaimed) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀνάθεμα (accursed) ἔστω (let him be)!

⁴ διὰ (because of) δὲ (even) τοὺς (the) παρεισάκτους (brought in secretly) ψευδαδέλφους (false brothers), οἵτινες (who) παρεισῆλθον (came in by stealth) κατασκοπῆσαι (to spy out) τὴν (the) ἐλευθερίαν (freedom) ἡμῶν (of us) ἣν (which) ἔχομεν (we have) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἵνα (that) ἡμᾶς (us) καταδουλώσουσιν (they will enslave),

¹ Ὦ (O) ἀνόητοι (foolish) Γαλάται (Galatians)! τίς (Who) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐβάσκανεν (has bewitched), οἷς (whose) κατ’ (before) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστὸς (Christ) προεγράφη (was publicly portrayed) ἐσταυρωμένος (as having been crucified)?

¹⁷ Ζηλοῦσιν (They are zealous after) ὑμᾶς (you) οὐ (not) καλῶς (rightly), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐκκλεῖσαι (to exclude) ὑμᾶς (you from us). θέλουσιν (They desire) ἵνα (so that) αὐτοὺς (them) ζηλοῦτε (you might be zealous after). ¹⁸ καλὸν (Good it is) δὲ (now) ζηλοῦσθαι (to be zealous) ἐν (in) καλῷ (a right thing) πάντοτε (at all times), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) μόνον (only) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) παρεῖναί (being present) με (my) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you). ¹⁹ Τέκνα (Children) μου (of me), οὓς (of whom) πάλιν (again) ὠδίνω (I travail) μέχρις (until) οὗ (that) μορφωθῇ (shall have been formed) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), ²⁰ ἤθελον (I was wishing) δὲ (indeed) παρεῖναι (to be present) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you) ἄρτι (presently) καὶ (and) ἀλλάξαι (to change) τὴν (the) φωνήν (tone) μου (of me), ὅτι (because) ἀποροῦμαι (I am perplexed) ἐν (as to) ὑμῖν (you). ²¹ Λέγετέ (Tell) μοι (me), οἱ (those) ὑπὸ (under) νόμον (the Law) θέλοντες (wishing) εἶναι (to be), τὸν (the) νόμον (Law) οὐκ (not) ἀκούετε (you do listen to)?

¹ Τῇ (In) ἐλευθερίᾳ (freedom), ἡμᾶς (us) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἠλευθέρωσεν (has set free); στήκετε (stand firm), οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) πάλιν (again) ζυγῷ (in a yoke) δουλείας (of slavery) ἐνέχεσθε (entangle yourselves). ² Ἴδε (Behold), ἐγὼ (I) Παῦλος (Paul) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) περιτέμνησθε (you shall become circumcised), Χριστὸς (Christ) ὑμᾶς (you) οὐδὲν (nothing) ὠφελήσει (will profit). ³ μαρτύρομαι (I testify) δὲ (now) πάλιν (again) παντὶ (to every) ἀνθρώπῳ (man) περιτεμνομένῳ (being circumcised) ὅτι (that) ὀφειλέτης (a debtor) ἐστὶν (he is) ὅλον (all) τὸν (the) νόμον (Law) ποιῆσαι (to keep). ⁴ κατηργήθητε (You are severed) ἀπὸ (from) Χριστοῦ (Christ), οἵτινες (whoever) ἐν (in) νόμῳ (the Law) δικαιοῦσθε (are being justified); τῆς (from) χάριτος (grace) ἐξεπέσατε (you have fallen away).

¹⁴ ἵνα (so that) μηκέτι (no longer) ὦμεν (we might be) νήπιοι (infants), κλυδωνιζόμενοι (being tossed by waves) καὶ (and) περιφερόμενοι (being carried about) παντὶ (by every) ἀνέμῳ (wind) τῆς (-) διδασκαλίας (of teaching), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) κυβείᾳ* (cunning) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men) ἐν (in) πανουργίᾳ (craftiness), πρὸς (with a view to) τὴν (the) μεθοδείαν (scheming) τῆς (-) πλάνης (of deceit).

² Βλέπετε (Beware of) τοὺς (the) κύνας (dogs); βλέπετε (beware of) τοὺς (the) κακοὺς (evil) ἐργάτας (workers); βλέπετε (beware of) τὴν (the) κατατομήν (false circumcision). ³ ἡμεῖς (We) γάρ (for) ἐσμεν (are) ἡ (the) περιτομή (circumcision), οἱ (those) Πνεύματι (in the Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) λατρεύοντες (worshiping) καὶ (and) καυχώμενοι (glorying) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (the flesh) πεποιθότες (having put confidence),

¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false), ¹² ἵνα (in order that) κριθῶσιν (should be judged) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) μὴ (not) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), ἀλλὰ (but) εὐδοκήσαντες (having delighted) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (in unrighteousness).

⁴ μηδὲ (nor) προσέχειν (to give heed) μύθοις (to myths) καὶ (and) γενεαλογίαις (genealogies) ἀπεράντοις (endless), αἵτινες (which) ἐκζητήσεις (speculations) παρέχουσιν (bring), μᾶλλον (rather) ἢ (than) οἰκονομίαν (stewardship) Θεοῦ (of God), τὴν (which is) ἐν (in) πίστει (faith).

⁶ ὧν (from which) τινες (some), ἀστοχήσαντες (having missed the mark), ἐξετράπησαν (have turned aside) εἰς (to) ματαιολογίαν (meaningless discourse),

³ Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖ (teaches another doctrine) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) προσέρχεται (draws near) ὑγιαίνουσιν (the being sound) λόγοις (words) τοῖς (-) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) καὶ (and) τῇ (the) κατ’ (according to) εὐσέβειαν (godliness) διδασκαλίᾳ (teaching), ⁴ τετύφωται (he is puffed up), μηδὲν (nothing) ἐπιστάμενος (knowing) ἀλλὰ (but) νοσῶν (unhealthy) περὶ (about) ζητήσεις (controversies) καὶ (and) λογομαχίας (disputes about words), ἐξ (out of) ὧν (which) γίνεται (come) φθόνος (envy), ἔρις (strife), βλασφημίαι (slander), ὑπόνοιαι (suspicions) πονηραί (evil), ⁵ διαπαρατριβαὶ (and constant frictions) διεφθαρμένων (corrupted) ἀνθρώπων (among men) τὸν (-) νοῦν (in mind), καὶ (and) ἀπεστερημένων (destitute) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth), νομιζόντων (holding) πορισμὸν (a means of gain) εἶναι (to be) τὴν (-) εὐσέβειαν (godliness).

¹³ πονηροὶ (Evil) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωποι (men) καὶ (and) γόητες (imposters) προκόψουσιν (will advance) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (-) χεῖρον (worse), πλανῶντες (deceiving) καὶ (and) πλανώμενοι (being deceived).

⁴ καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) μὲν (indeed) τῆς (the) ἀληθείας (truth) τὴν (-) ἀκοὴν (hearing), ἀποστρέψουσιν (they will turn away); ἐπὶ (unto) δὲ (then) τοὺς (-) μύθους (myths) ἐκτραπήσονται (they will be turned aside).

²⁶ Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) δοκεῖ (seems) θρησκὸς (religious) εἶναι (to be), μὴ (not) χαλιναγωγῶν (bridling) γλῶσσαν (the tongue) αὐτοῦ* (of himself), ἀλλὰ (but) ἀπατῶν (deceiving) καρδίαν (the heart) αὐτοῦ* (of himself), τούτου (of this one) μάταιος (worthless is) ἡ (the) θρησκεία (religion).

¹ Ἐγένοντο (There were) δὲ (however) καὶ (also) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets) ἐν (among) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people), ὡς (as) καὶ (also) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) ἔσονται (there will be) ψευδοδιδάσκαλοι (false teachers), οἵτινες (who) παρεισάξουσιν (will stealthily introduce) αἱρέσεις (heresies) ἀπωλείας (destructive), καὶ (even) τὸν (the) ἀγοράσαντα (having bought) αὐτοὺς (them) δεσπότην (Master) ἀρνούμενοι (denying), ἐπάγοντες (bringing upon) ἑαυτοῖς (themselves) ταχινὴν (swift) ἀπώλειαν (destruction). ² καὶ (And) πολλοὶ (many) ἐξακολουθήσουσιν (will follow after) αὐτῶν (their) ταῖς (-) ἀσελγείαις (sensuality), δι’ (through) οὓς (whom) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) βλασφημηθήσεται (will be maligned).

¹⁸ Παιδία (Little children), ἐσχάτη (the last) ὥρα (hour) ἐστίν (it is), καὶ (and) καθὼς (as) ἠκούσατε (you have heard) ὅτι (that) ἀντίχριστος (antichrist) ἔρχεται (is coming), καὶ (even) νῦν (now) ἀντίχριστοι (antichrists) πολλοὶ (many) γεγόνασιν (have arisen), ὅθεν (whereby) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἐσχάτη (the last) ὥρα (hour) ἐστίν (it is).

¹ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), μὴ (not) παντὶ (every) πνεύματι (spirit) πιστεύετε (believe), ἀλλὰ (but) δοκιμάζετε (test) τὰ (the) πνεύματα (spirits), εἰ (whether) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (they are), ὅτι (because) πολλοὶ (many) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets) ἐξεληλύθασιν (have gone out) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).

⁶ Ἀλλὰ (But) τοῦτο (this) ἔχεις (you have), ὅτι (that) μισεῖς (you hate) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τῶν (of the) Νικολαϊτῶν (Nicolaitans), ἃ (which) κἀγὼ (I also) μισῶ (hate).

¹⁴ Ἀλλ’ (But) ἔχω (I have) κατὰ (against) σοῦ (you) ὀλίγα (a few things), ὅτι (because) ἔχεις (you have) ἐκεῖ (some there) κρατοῦντας (holding) τὴν (the) διδαχὴν (teaching) Βαλαάμ (of Balaam), ὃς (who) ἐδίδασκεν (would teach) τῷ (-) Βαλὰκ (Balak) βαλεῖν (to cast) σκάνδαλον (a snare) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) υἱῶν (sons) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel), φαγεῖν (to eat) εἰδωλόθυτα (things sacrificed to idols), καὶ (and) πορνεῦσαι (to commit sexual immorality).
