¹ Καὶ (And) σημεῖον (a sign) μέγα (great) ὤφθη (appeared) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven): γυνὴ (a woman) περιβεβλημένη (clothed with) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) ὑποκάτω (under) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) κεφαλῆς (head) αὐτῆς (of her) στέφανος (a crown) ἀστέρων (of stars) δώδεκα (twelve), ² καὶ (and) ἐν (in) γαστρὶ (womb) ἔχουσα (having). καὶ (And) κράζει (she cries out), ὠδίνουσα (being in travail), καὶ (and) βασανιζομένη (being in pain) τεκεῖν (to bring forth). ³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) οὐρὰ (tail) αὐτοῦ (of him) σύρει (drags) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (he cast) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἕστηκεν (stands) ἐνώπιον (before) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (woman) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) τεκεῖν (to bring forth), ἵνα (so that) ὅταν (when) τέκῃ (she should bring forth), τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) καταφάγῃ (he might devour). ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔτεκεν (she brought forth) υἱόν (a son) ἄρσεν (male), ὃς (who) μέλλει (is about) ποιμαίνειν (to rule) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron); καὶ (and) ἡρπάσθη (was caught up) τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἔφυγεν (fled) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), ὅπου (where) ἔχει (she has) ἐκεῖ (there) τόπον (a place) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) ἀπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἵνα (so that) ἐκεῖ (there) τρέφωσιν (they should nourish) αὐτὴν (her) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (one thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (there was) πόλεμος (war) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven): ὁ (-) Μιχαὴλ (Michael) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him) τοῦ (-) πολεμῆσαι (warred) μετὰ (against) τοῦ (the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπολέμησεν (warred back), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him). ⁸ καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἴσχυσεν* (had he strength), οὐδὲ (nor) τόπος (a place) εὑρέθη (was found) αὐτῶν (for them) ἔτι (any longer) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἐβλήθη (was thrown out) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ὁ (-) μέγας (great), ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ὁ (-) ἀρχαῖος (ancient), ὁ (who) καλούμενος (is called) Διάβολος (the devil) καὶ (and) Ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), ὁ (-) πλανῶν (deceiving) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (inhabited world) ὅλην (whole). ἐβλήθη (He was thrown down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ἐβλήθησαν (were thrown down). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying): “Ἄρτι (Now) ἐγένετο (have come) ἡ (the) σωτηρία (salvation), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (authority) τοῦ (the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὅτι (because) ἐβλήθη (has been thrown down) ὁ (the) κατήγωρ (accuser) τῶν (of the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) ἡμῶν (of us), ὁ (the one) κατηγορῶν (accusing) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτός (night). ¹¹ καὶ (And) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐνίκησαν (have overcome) αὐτὸν (him) διὰ (by reason) τὸ (of the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) διὰ (by reason of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) μαρτυρίας (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠγάπησαν (they have loved) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτῶν (of them) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death). ¹² διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), εὐφραίνεσθε (rejoice) ‹οἱ› (O) οὐρανοὶ (heavens), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) σκηνοῦντες (dwelling)! οὐαὶ (Woe to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), ὅτι (because) κατέβη (has come down) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἔχων (having) θυμὸν (fury) μέγαν (great), εἰδὼς (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὀλίγον (a short) καιρὸν (time) ἔχει (he has).” ¹³ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) εἶδεν (saw) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ὅτι (that) ἐβλήθη (he had been thrown down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), ἐδίωξεν (he pursued) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) ἥτις (who) ἔτεκεν (had brought forth) τὸν (the) ἄρσενα (male child). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) ἐδόθησαν (were given) τῇ (to the) γυναικὶ (woman) αἱ (the) δύο (two) πτέρυγες (wings) τοῦ (of the) ἀετοῦ (eagle) τοῦ (-) μεγάλου (great), ἵνα (so that) πέτηται (she could fly) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), εἰς (into) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) αὐτῆς (of her), ὅπου (where) τρέφεται (she is nourished) ἐκεῖ (there) καιρὸν (a time), καὶ (and) καιροὺς (times), καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (half) καιροῦ (a time) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the) ὄφεως (serpent). ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔβαλεν (cast) ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὀπίσω (after) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (woman) ὕδωρ (water) ὡς (as) ποταμόν (a river), ἵνα (so that) αὐτὴν (her) ποταμοφόρητον (carried away by a flood) ποιήσῃ (he might cause to be). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) ἐβοήθησεν (helped) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) τῇ (the) γυναικί (woman), καὶ (and) ἤνοιξεν (opened) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτῆς (of it) καὶ (and) κατέπιεν (swallowed up) τὸν (the) ποταμὸν (river), ὃν (which) ἔβαλεν (had cast) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him). ¹⁷ καὶ (And) ὠργίσθη (was angry) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπὶ (with) τῇ (the) γυναικί (woman), καὶ (and) ἀπῆλθεν (went) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (rest) τοῦ (of the) σπέρματος (children) αὐτῆς (of her) τῶν (-) τηρούντων (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐστάθη (he stood) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea).

³⁸ Τότε (Then) ἀπεκρίθησαν (answered) αὐτῷ (him) τινες (some) τῶν (of the) γραμματέων (scribes) καὶ (and) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees), λέγοντες (saying), “Διδάσκαλε (Teacher), θέλομεν (we wish) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (You) σημεῖον (a sign) ἰδεῖν (to see).”

³⁰ Καὶ (And) τότε (then) φανήσεται (will appear) τὸ (the) σημεῖον (sign) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐν (in) ‹τῷ› (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) τότε (then) κόψονται (will mourn) πᾶσαι (all) αἱ (the) φυλαὶ (tribes) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ὄψονται (they will see) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐρχόμενον (coming) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) νεφελῶν (clouds) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (of heaven) μετὰ (with) δυνάμεως (power) καὶ (and) δόξης (glory) πολλῆς (great).

²⁵ Καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀστέρες (stars) ἔσονται (will be) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πίπτοντες (falling), Καὶ (and) αἱ (the) δυνάμεις (powers) αἱ (that are) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens) σαλευθήσονται (will be shaken).’

¹¹ σεισμοί (Earthquakes) τε (both) μεγάλοι (great), καὶ (and) κατὰ (in different) τόπους (places) λιμοὶ* (famines) καὶ (and) λοιμοὶ* (pestilences) ἔσονται (there will be); φόβητρά (fearful sights) τε (also) καὶ (and) «ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ» (heaven) σημεῖα (signs) μεγάλα (great) ἔσται (will there be).

²⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔσονται (there will be) σημεῖα (signs) ἐν (in) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) σελήνῃ (moon), καὶ (and) ἄστροις (stars); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) συνοχὴ (distress) ἐθνῶν (of nations) ἐν (with) ἀπορίᾳ (perplexity), ἤχους (the roaring) θαλάσσης (of the sea) καὶ (and) σάλου (rolling surge),

²⁹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), νυμφίος (the bridegroom) ἐστίν (is); ὁ (the) δὲ (now) φίλος (friend) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ὁ (the one) ἑστηκὼς (standing) καὶ (and) ἀκούων (listening for) αὐτοῦ (him), χαρᾷ (with joy) χαίρει (rejoices) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) φωνὴν (voice) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom). αὕτη (This) οὖν (therefore), ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (of mine), πεπλήρωται (is fulfilled).

¹⁹ καὶ (and) δώσω (I will show) τέρατα (wonders) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἄνω (above), καὶ (and) σημεῖα (signs) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) κάτω (below), αἷμα (blood) καὶ (and) πῦρ (fire) καὶ (and) ἀτμίδα (vapor) καπνοῦ (of smoke).

²² δικαιοσύνη (the righteousness) δὲ (now) Θεοῦ (of God) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) πιστεύοντας (believing). οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) διαστολή (distinction).

¹⁴ ἀλλὰ (But) ἐνδύσασθε (put on) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστόν (Christ), καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) πρόνοιαν (provision) μὴ (not) ποιεῖσθε (make) εἰς (for) ἐπιθυμίας (desires).

² ζηλῶ (I am jealous as to) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) Θεοῦ (of God) ζήλῳ (with the jealousy); ἡρμοσάμην (I have betrothed) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) ἑνὶ (to one) ἀνδρὶ (husband), παρθένον (a virgin) ἁγνὴν (pure) παραστῆσαι (to present) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (to Christ).

²⁷ ὅσοι (As many as) γὰρ (for) εἰς (into) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐβαπτίσθητε (you were baptized), Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐνεδύσασθε (you have put on).

¹⁴ Ἐμοὶ (For me) δὲ (however), μὴ (never) γένοιτο (may it be) καυχᾶσθαι (to boast), εἰ (if) μὴ (never) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σταυρῷ (cross) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), δι’ (through) οὗ (which) ἐμοὶ (to me) κόσμος (the world) ἐσταύρωται (has been crucified), κἀγὼ (and I) κόσμῳ (to the world).

²⁵ Οἱ (-) ἄνδρες (Husbands), ἀγαπᾶτε (love) τὰς (the) γυναῖκας (wives), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἠγάπησεν (loved) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) καὶ (and) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) παρέδωκεν (gave up) ὑπὲρ (for) αὐτῆς (her), ²⁶ ἵνα (so that) αὐτὴν (her) ἁγιάσῃ (He might sanctify), καθαρίσας (having cleansed her) τῷ (by the) λουτρῷ (washing) τοῦ (-) ὕδατος (of water) ἐν (by) ῥήματι (the word), ²⁷ ἵνα (so that) παραστήσῃ (might present) αὐτὸς (He) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) ἔνδοξον (in glory) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church), μὴ (not) ἔχουσαν (having) σπίλον (spot) ἢ (or) ῥυτίδα (wrinkle) ἤ (or) τι (any) τῶν (of the) τοιούτων (such things), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) ᾖ (it would be) ἁγία (holy) καὶ (and) ἄμωμος (blameless).

³² τὸ (The) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦτο (this) μέγα (great) ἐστίν (is); ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (speak) εἰς (as to) Χριστὸν (Christ), καὶ (and) εἰς (as to) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church).

¹¹ Ἐπεφάνη (Has appeared) γὰρ (for) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), σωτήριος (bringing salvation) πᾶσιν (to all) ἀνθρώποις (men), ¹² παιδεύουσα (instructing) ἡμᾶς (us) ἵνα (that), ἀρνησάμενοι (having denied) τὴν (-) ἀσέβειαν (ungodliness) καὶ (and) τὰς (-) κοσμικὰς (worldly) ἐπιθυμίας (passions), σωφρόνως (discreetly) καὶ (and) δικαίως (righteously) καὶ (and) εὐσεβῶς (piously) ζήσωμεν (we should live) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νῦν (present) αἰῶνι (age),

²⁰ τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρων (stars), οὓς (which) εἶδες (you saw) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) δεξιᾶς (right hand) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) λυχνίας (lampstands) τὰς (-) χρυσᾶς (golden): οἱ (The) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρες (stars) ἄγγελοι (the angels) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἐκκλησιῶν (churches) εἰσίν (are), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) λυχνίαι (lampstands) αἱ (-) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἑπτὰ (the seven) ἐκκλησίαι (churches) εἰσίν (are).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὁ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ὤφθη (was seen) ἡ (the) κιβωτὸς (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake), καὶ (and) χάλαζα (hail) μεγάλη (great).

³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), μέγα (great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστόν (wonderful), ἀγγέλους (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἔχοντας (having) πληγὰς (plagues) ἑπτὰ (seven) — τὰς (the) ἐσχάτας (last), ὅτι (because) ἐν (in) αὐταῖς (them) ἐτελέσθη (was completed) ὁ (the) θυμὸς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) τὸ (the) τεῖχος (wall) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) ἔχων (had) θεμελίους (foundations) δώδεκα (twelve), καὶ (and) ἐπ’ (in) αὐτῶν (them) δώδεκα (the twelve) ὀνόματα (names) τῶν (of the) δώδεκα (twelve) ἀποστόλων (apostles) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

²³ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) οὐ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), ἵνα (that) φαίνωσιν (they should shine) αὐτῇ (in it); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δόξα (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφώτισεν (enlightened) αὐτήν (it), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λύχνος (lamp) αὐτῆς (of it) τὸ (is the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb).

²¹ ἡ (The) γυνὴ (woman) ὅταν (when) τίκτῃ (she is giving birth), λύπην (pain) ἔχει (has), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) αὐτῆς (of her); ὅταν (when) δὲ (however) γεννήσῃ (she brings forth) τὸ (the) παιδίον (child), οὐκέτι (no longer) μνημονεύει (she remembers) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation), διὰ (on account of) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) ὅτι (that) ἐγεννήθη (has been born) ἄνθρωπος (a man) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).

¹⁹ Τέκνα (Children) μου (of me), οὓς (of whom) πάλιν (again) ὠδίνω (I travail) μέχρις (until) οὗ (that) μορφωθῇ (shall have been formed) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you),

²⁷ γέγραπται (It has been written) γάρ (for): “Εὐφράνθητι (Rejoice), στεῖρα (O barren woman), ἡ (the one) οὐ (not) τίκτουσα (bearing); ῥῆξον (break forth) καὶ (and) βόησον (call aloud), ἡ (the one) οὐκ (not) ὠδίνουσα (travailing); ὅτι (because) πολλὰ (many) τὰ (are the) τέκνα (children) τῆς (of the) ἐρήμου (desolate woman) μᾶλλον (more), ἢ (than) τῆς (of her) ἐχούσης (having) τὸν (the) ἄνδρα (husband).”

¹ Καὶ (And) σημεῖον (a sign) μέγα (great) ὤφθη (appeared) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven): γυνὴ (a woman) περιβεβλημένη (clothed with) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) ὑποκάτω (under) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) κεφαλῆς (head) αὐτῆς (of her) στέφανος (a crown) ἀστέρων (of stars) δώδεκα (twelve),

⁹ καὶ (And) ἐβλήθη (was thrown out) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ὁ (-) μέγας (great), ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ὁ (-) ἀρχαῖος (ancient), ὁ (who) καλούμενος (is called) Διάβολος (the devil) καὶ (and) Ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), ὁ (-) πλανῶν (deceiving) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (inhabited world) ὅλην (whole). ἐβλήθη (He was thrown down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ἐβλήθησαν (were thrown down).

¹⁷ καὶ (And) ὠργίσθη (was angry) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπὶ (with) τῇ (the) γυναικί (woman), καὶ (and) ἀπῆλθεν (went) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (rest) τοῦ (of the) σπέρματος (children) αὐτῆς (of her) τῶν (-) τηρούντων (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐστάθη (he stood) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea).

¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw coming) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) ψευδοπροφήτου (false prophet), πνεύματα (spirits) τρία (three) ἀκάθαρτα (unclean), ὡς (like) βάτραχοι (frogs);

³ Καὶ (And) ἀπήνεγκέν (he carried away) με (me) εἰς (into) ἔρημον (a wilderness) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) γυναῖκα (a woman) καθημένην (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) θηρίον (a beast) κόκκινον (scarlet), γέμοντα (being full) ὀνόματα (of names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἦν (was) περιβεβλημένη (clothed in) πορφυροῦν (purple) καὶ (and) κόκκινον (scarlet), καὶ (and) κεχρυσωμένη (adorned) χρυσίῳ (with gold) καὶ (and) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) καὶ (and) μαργαρίταις (pearls), ἔχουσα (holding) ποτήριον (a cup) χρυσοῦν (golden) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτῆς (of her), γέμον (being full) βδελυγμάτων (of abominations) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἀκάθαρτα (impurity) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her).

⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (said) μοι (to me) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) ἐθαύμασας (did you marvel)? ἐγὼ (I) ἐρῶ (will tell) σοι (you) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τῆς (of the) γυναικὸς (woman), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) τοῦ (-) βαστάζοντος (carrying) αὐτήν (her), τοῦ (-) ἔχοντος (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) κεφαλὰς (heads), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns).

⁹ Ὧδε (Here is) ὁ (the) νοῦς (mind) ὁ (-) ἔχων (having) σοφίαν (wisdom): αἱ (The) ἑπτὰ (seven) κεφαλαὶ (heads), ἑπτὰ (seven) ὄρη (mountains) εἰσίν (are), ὅπου (where) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) κάθηται (sits) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them). ¹⁰ καὶ (And) βασιλεῖς (kings) ἑπτά (seven) εἰσιν (there are). οἱ (The) πέντε (five) ἔπεσαν (are fallen), ὁ (the) εἷς (one) ἔστιν (is), ὁ (the) ἄλλος (other) οὔπω (not yet) ἦλθεν (has come); καὶ (and) ὅταν (when) ἔλθῃ (he shall have come), ὀλίγον (a little while) αὐτὸν (him) δεῖ (it behooves) μεῖναι (to remain).

¹² καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (which) εἶδες (you saw), δέκα (ten) βασιλεῖς (kings) εἰσιν (are), οἵτινες (who) βασιλείαν (a kingdom) οὔπω (not yet) ἔλαβον (have received), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ὡς (as) βασιλεῖς (kings) μίαν (one) ὥραν (hour) λαμβάνουσιν (receive), μετὰ (along with) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast).

¹⁶ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὗτοι (these) μισήσουσιν (will hate) τὴν (the) πόρνην (prostitute), καὶ (and) ἠρημωμένην (desolate) ποιήσουσιν (will make) αὐτὴν (her), καὶ (and) γυμνήν (naked); καὶ (and) τὰς (the) σάρκας (flesh) αὐτῆς (of her) φάγονται (they will eat), καὶ (and) αὐτὴν (her) κατακαύσουσιν (they will burn) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire).

¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself),

² καὶ (And) ἐκράτησεν (he seized) τὸν (the) δράκοντα (dragon), ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ὁ (-) ἀρχαῖος (ancient), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) Διάβολος (the devil) καὶ (and) Ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), καὶ (and) ἔδησεν (bound) αὐτὸν (him) χίλια (for a thousand) ἔτη (years).

³ Ἀκούσας (Having heard) δὲ (then) ὁ (-) βασιλεὺς (King) Ἡρῴδης (Herod), ἐταράχθη (he was troubled), καὶ (and) πᾶσα (all) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him). ⁴ καὶ (And) συναγαγὼν (having gathered together) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests) καὶ (and) γραμματεῖς (scribes) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people), ἐπυνθάνετο (he was inquiring) παρ’ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ποῦ (where) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ) γεννᾶται (was to be born). ⁵ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐν (In) Βηθλέεμ (Bethlehem) τῆς (-) Ἰουδαίας (of Judea), οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) γέγραπται (has it been written) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) προφήτου (prophet): ⁶ ‘Καὶ (And) σύ (you), Βηθλέεμ (Bethlehem), γῆ (land) Ἰούδα (of Judah), οὐδαμῶς (by no means) ἐλαχίστη (least) εἶ (are) ἐν (among) τοῖς (the) ἡγεμόσιν (rulers) Ἰούδα (of Judah), ἐκ (out) σοῦ (of you) γὰρ (for) ἐξελεύσεται (will go forth) ἡγούμενος (One leading), ὅστις (who) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) τὸν (the) λαόν (people) μου (of Me) τὸν (-) Ἰσραήλ (Israel).’” ⁷ Τότε (Then) Ἡρῴδης (Herod), λάθρᾳ (secretly) καλέσας (having called) τοὺς (the) μάγους (Magi), ἠκρίβωσεν (inquired exactly) παρ’ (of) αὐτῶν (them) τὸν (the) χρόνον (time) τοῦ (of the) φαινομένου (appearing) ἀστέρος (star). ⁸ καὶ (And) πέμψας (having sent) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (to) Βηθλέεμ (Bethlehem), εἶπεν (he said), “Πορευθέντες (Having gone), ἐξετάσατε (search) ἀκριβῶς (carefully) περὶ (for) τοῦ (the) παιδίου (Child); ἐπὰν (when) δὲ (then) εὕρητε (You shall have found Him), ἀπαγγείλατέ (bring word back) μοι (to me), ὅπως (so that) κἀγὼ (I also) ἐλθὼν (having come), προσκυνήσω (may worship) αὐτῷ (Him).” ⁹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἀκούσαντες (having heard) τοῦ (the) βασιλέως (king), ἐπορεύθησαν (they went away); καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ὁ (the) ἀστὴρ (star) ὃν (which) εἶδον (they saw) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀνατολῇ (east) προῆγεν (went before) αὐτούς (them) ἕως (until) ἐλθὼν (having arrived), ἐστάθη (it stood) ἐπάνω (over) οὗ (where) ἦν (was) τὸ (the) παιδίον (Child). ¹⁰ ἰδόντες (Having seen) δὲ (now) τὸν (the) ἀστέρα (star), ἐχάρησαν (they rejoiced with) χαρὰν (joy) μεγάλην (great) σφόδρα (exceedingly). ¹¹ καὶ (And) ἐλθόντες (having come) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house), εἶδον (they found) τὸ (the) παιδίον (Child) μετὰ (with) Μαρίας (Mary) τῆς (the) μητρὸς (mother) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) πεσόντες (having fallen down), προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) αὐτῷ (Him); καὶ (and) ἀνοίξαντες (having opened) τοὺς (the) θησαυροὺς (treasures) αὐτῶν (of them), προσήνεγκαν (they offered) αὐτῷ (to Him) δῶρα (gifts), χρυσὸν (gold) καὶ (and) λίβανον (frankincense) καὶ (and) σμύρναν (myrrh). ¹² Καὶ (And) χρηματισθέντες (having been divinely warned) κατ’ (in) ὄναρ (a dream) μὴ (not) ἀνακάμψαι (to return) πρὸς (to) Ἡρῴδην (Herod), δι’ (by) ἄλλης (another) ὁδοῦ (route) ἀνεχώρησαν (they withdrew) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) χώραν (country) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹³ Ἀναχωρησάντων (Having withdrawn) δὲ (then) αὐτῶν (of them), ἰδοὺ (behold), ἄγγελος (an angel) κυρίου (of the Lord) φαίνεται (appears) κατ’ (in) ὄναρ (a dream) τῷ (-) Ἰωσὴφ (to Joseph), λέγων (saying), “Ἐγερθεὶς (Having arisen), παράλαβε (take) τὸ (the) παιδίον (Child) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μητέρα (mother) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) φεῦγε (flee) εἰς (into) Αἴγυπτον (Egypt), καὶ (and) ἴσθι (remain) ἐκεῖ (there) ἕως (until) ἂν (-) εἴπω (I should tell) σοι (you); μέλλει (is about) γὰρ (for) Ἡρῴδης (Herod) ζητεῖν (to seek) τὸ (the) παιδίον (Child), τοῦ (-) ἀπολέσαι (to destroy) αὐτό (Him).” ¹⁴ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἐγερθεὶς (having arisen), παρέλαβεν (he took) τὸ (the) παιδίον (Child) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μητέρα (mother) αὐτοῦ (of Him) νυκτὸς (by night) καὶ (and) ἀνεχώρησεν (withdrew) εἰς (into) Αἴγυπτον (Egypt), ¹⁵ καὶ (and) ἦν (he remained) ἐκεῖ (there) ἕως (until) τῆς (the) τελευτῆς (death) Ἡρῴδου (of Herod); ἵνα (so that) πληρωθῇ (it might be fulfilled) τὸ (that) ῥηθὲν (having been spoken) ὑπὸ (by) κυρίου (the Lord) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) προφήτου (prophet), λέγοντος (saying), “Ἐξ (Out) Αἰγύπτου (of Egypt) ἐκάλεσα (have I called) τὸν (the) υἱόν (Son) μου (of me).” ¹⁶ Τότε (Then) Ἡρῴδης (Herod), ἰδὼν (having seen) ὅτι (that) ἐνεπαίχθη (he had been outwitted) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (the) μάγων (Magi), ἐθυμώθη (was enraged) λίαν (intensely), καὶ (and) ἀποστείλας (having sent forth), ἀνεῖλεν (he put to death) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) παῖδας (boys) τοὺς (that were) ἐν (in) Βηθλέεμ (Bethlehem) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πᾶσι (all) τοῖς (the) ὁρίοις (vicinity) αὐτῆς (of it), ἀπὸ (from) διετοῦς (two years old) καὶ (and) κατωτέρω (under), κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) χρόνον (time) ὃν (which) ἠκρίβωσεν (he had ascertained) παρὰ (from) τῶν (the) μάγων (Magi).

⁴⁴ ὑμεῖς (You) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) πατρὸς (father) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil) ἐστὲ (are), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐπιθυμίας (desires) τοῦ (of) πατρὸς (father) ὑμῶν (of you), θέλετε (you desire) ποιεῖν (to do). ἐκεῖνος (He) ἀνθρωποκτόνος (a murderer) ἦν (was) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth) οὐκ (not) ἔστηκεν (has stood), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (there is) ἀλήθεια (truth) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him). ὅταν (Whenever) λαλῇ (he might speak) τὸ (-) ψεῦδος (falsehood), ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ἰδίων (own) λαλεῖ (he speaks); ὅτι (for) ψεύστης (a liar) ἐστὶν (he is), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) πατὴρ (father) αὐτοῦ (of it).

⁸ Νήψατε (Be sober-minded); γρηγορήσατε (watch). ὁ (The) ἀντίδικος (adversary) ὑμῶν (of You), διάβολος (the devil), ὡς (as) λέων (a lion) ὠρυόμενος (roaring) περιπατεῖ (prowls about), ζητῶν (seeking) τινα (whom) καταπιεῖν (to devour),

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (first) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (there was) χάλαζα (hail), καὶ (and) πῦρ (fire) μεμιγμένα (having been mixed) ἐν (with) αἵματι (blood), καὶ (and) ἐβλήθη (it was cast) εἰς (upon) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). καὶ (And) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῆς (of) γῆς (the earth) κατεκάη (was burned up), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) δένδρων (trees) κατεκάη (were burned up), καὶ (and) πᾶς (all) χόρτος (the grass) χλωρὸς (green) κατεκάη (was burned up).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ἔχουσιν (they have) οὐρὰς (tails) ὁμοίας (like) σκορπίοις (scorpions) καὶ (and) κέντρα (stingers), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) οὐραῖς (tails) αὐτῶν (of them) ἡ (is the) ἐξουσία (power) αὐτῶν (of them) ἀδικῆσαι (to injure) τοὺς (-) ἀνθρώπους (men) μῆνας (for months) πέντε (five).

¹⁹ ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) ἐξουσία (powers) τῶν (of the) ἵππων (horses) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) στόματι (mouths) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐστιν (are), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) οὐραῖς (tails) αὐτῶν (of them); αἱ (the) γὰρ (for) οὐραὶ (tails) αὐτῶν (of them) ὅμοιαι (are like) ὄφεσιν (serpents), ἔχουσαι (having) κεφαλάς (heads), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) αὐταῖς (them) ἀδικοῦσιν (they injure).

² καὶ (and) ἐν (in) γαστρὶ (womb) ἔχουσα (having). καὶ (And) κράζει (she cries out), ὠδίνουσα (being in travail), καὶ (and) βασανιζομένη (being in pain) τεκεῖν (to bring forth). ³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns).

¹⁸ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἣν (whom) εἶδες (you saw) ἔστιν (is) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), ἡ (-) ἔχουσα (having) βασιλείαν (kingship) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) βασιλέων (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).”

²⁵ καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐγίνωσκεν (knew) αὐτὴν (her) ἕως (until) οὗ (that) ἔτεκεν (she had brought forth) υἱόν (a son); καὶ (and) ἐκάλεσεν (he called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus).

¹⁹ Ὁ (-) μὲν (Indeed) οὖν (therefore) Κύριος (the Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), μετὰ (after) τὸ (-) λαλῆσαι (speaking) αὐτοῖς (to them), ἀνελήμφθη (was taken up) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) οὐρανὸν (heaven) καὶ (and) ἐκάθισεν (sat) ἐκ (at the) δεξιῶν (right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

² οἶδα (I know) ἄνθρωπον (a man) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ), πρὸ (ago) ἐτῶν (years) δεκατεσσάρων (fourteen)— εἴτε (whether) ἐν (in) σώματι (the body), οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know), εἴτε (or) ἐκτὸς (out of) τοῦ (the) σώματος (body), οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know), ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) οἶδεν (knows)— ἁρπαγέντα (having been caught up) τὸν (-) τοιοῦτον (such a man) ἕως (to) τρίτου (the third) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).

²⁶ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) νικῶν (overcoming) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) τηρῶν (keeping) ἄχρι (until) τέλους (the end) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) μου (of Me), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (nations), ²⁷ καὶ (and) ποιμανεῖ (he will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron), ὡς (as) τὰ (the) σκεύη (vessels of) τὰ (the) κεραμικὰ (potter) συντρίβεται (are broken in pieces), — ὡς (just as) κἀγὼ (I also) εἴληφα (have received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me).

¹² καὶ (And) ἤκουσαν (they heard) φωνῆς (a voice) μεγάλης (great) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λεγούσης (saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἀνάβατε (Come up) ὧδε (here).” καὶ (And) ἀνέβησαν (they went up) εἰς (to) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νεφέλῃ (cloud); καὶ (and) ἐθεώρησαν (beheld) αὐτοὺς (them) οἱ (the) ἐχθροὶ (enemies) αὐτῶν (of them).

² καὶ (and) ἐν (in) γαστρὶ (womb) ἔχουσα (having). καὶ (And) κράζει (she cries out), ὠδίνουσα (being in travail), καὶ (and) βασανιζομένη (being in pain) τεκεῖν (to bring forth).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth) ῥομφαία (a sword) ὀξεῖα (sharp), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (with) αὐτῇ (it) πατάξῃ (He may strike down) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron). καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) πατεῖ (treads) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (press) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

¹¹ Τότε (Then) ἀφίησιν (leaves) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἄγγελοι (angels) προσῆλθον (came) καὶ (and) διηκόνουν (were ministering) αὐτῷ (to Him).

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) αὐλὴν (courtyard) τὴν (-) ἔξωθεν (outside) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple), ἔκβαλε (leave) ἔξωθεν (out), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὴν (it) μετρήσῃς (measure), ὅτι (because) ἐδόθη (it has been given up) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (nations), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy) πατήσουσιν (they will trample upon) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two). ³ καὶ (And) δώσω (I will grant) τοῖς (to the) δυσὶν (two) μάρτυσίν (witnesses) μου (of me), καὶ (and) προφητεύσουσιν (they will prophesy) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (a thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty), περιβεβλημένοι (clothed in) σάκκους (sackcloth).”

¹⁴ καὶ (And) ἐδόθησαν (were given) τῇ (to the) γυναικὶ (woman) αἱ (the) δύο (two) πτέρυγες (wings) τοῦ (of the) ἀετοῦ (eagle) τοῦ (-) μεγάλου (great), ἵνα (so that) πέτηται (she could fly) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), εἰς (into) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) αὐτῆς (of her), ὅπου (where) τρέφεται (she is nourished) ἐκεῖ (there) καιρὸν (a time), καὶ (and) καιροὺς (times), καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (half) καιροῦ (a time) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the) ὄφεως (serpent).

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) στόμα (a mouth) λαλοῦν (speaking) μεγάλα (great things) καὶ (and) βλασφημίας (blasphemy); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ποιῆσαι (to act) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two).

⁴¹ ἀποστελεῖ (Will send forth) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) τοὺς (the) ἀγγέλους (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) συλλέξουσιν (they will gather) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) βασιλείας (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of Him) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) σκάνδαλα (causes of sin) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) ποιοῦντας (practicing) τὴν (-) ἀνομίαν (lawlessness),

²⁷ μέλλει (Is about) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἀποδώσει (He will give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) πρᾶξιν (deeds) αὐτοῦ (of him).

³¹ καὶ (And) ἀποστελεῖ (He will send) τοὺς (the) ἀγγέλους (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him) μετὰ (with) σάλπιγγος (a trumpet call) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἐπισυνάξουσιν (they will gather together) τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτοὺς (elect) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ἀνέμων (winds), ἀπ’ (from) ἄκρων (the ends) οὐρανῶν (of the heavens) ἕως (to) ‹τῶν› (the) ἄκρων (ends) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁴¹ Τότε (Then) ἐρεῖ (will He say) καὶ (also) τοῖς (to those) ἐξ (on) εὐωνύμων (the left), ‘Πορεύεσθε (Depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me), ‹οἱ› (those) κατηραμένοι (being cursed), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πῦρ (fire) τὸ (-) αἰώνιον (eternal), τὸ (-) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) τῷ (for the) διαβόλῳ (devil) καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) ἀγγέλοις (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him).

⁵³ ἢ (Or) δοκεῖς (think you) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) δύναμαι (I am able) παρακαλέσαι (to call upon) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) παραστήσει (He will furnish) μοι (to Me) ἄρτι (presently) πλείω (more than) δώδεκα (twelve) λεγιῶνας (legions) ἀγγέλων (of angels)?

⁷ καὶ (and) τῇ (the) ὑπερβολῇ (surpassingness) τῶν (of the) ἀποκαλύψεων (revelations). Διὸ (Therefore) ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited), ἐδόθη (was given) μοι (to me) σκόλοψ (a thorn) τῇ (in my) σαρκί (flesh), ἄγγελος (a messenger) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἵνα (that) με (me) κολαφίζῃ (he might buffet), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited).

¹² ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἡμῖν (to us) ἡ (the) πάλη (wrestling) πρὸς (against) αἷμα (blood) καὶ (and) σάρκα (flesh), ἀλλὰ (but) πρὸς (against) τὰς (the) ἀρχάς (rulers), πρὸς (against) τὰς (the) ἐξουσίας (authorities), πρὸς (against) τοὺς (the) κοσμοκράτορας (cosmic powers) τοῦ (of the) σκότους (darkness) τούτου (this), πρὸς (against) τὰ (the) πνευματικὰ (spiritual forces) τῆς (-) πονηρίας (of evil) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἐπουρανίοις (heavenly realms).

⁷ καὶ (and) ὑμῖν (to you) τοῖς (-) θλιβομένοις (being oppressed), ἄνεσιν (repose) μεθ’ (with) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) ἀποκαλύψει (revelation) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), μετ’ (with) ἀγγέλων (the angels) δυνάμεως (mighty) αὐτοῦ (of Him)

¹⁰ Ἔπρεπεν (It was fitting) γὰρ (for) αὐτῷ (to Him), δι’ (for) ὃν (whom are) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things) καὶ (and) δι’ (by) οὗ (whom are) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things), πολλοὺς (many) υἱοὺς (sons) εἰς (to) δόξαν (glory) ἀγαγόντα (having brought), τὸν (the) ἀρχηγὸν (archetype) τῆς (of the) σωτηρίας (salvation) αὐτῶν (of them), διὰ (through) παθημάτων (sufferings) τελειῶσαι (to make perfect).

⁴ Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀγγέλων (the angels) ἁμαρτησάντων (having sinned), οὐκ (not) ἐφείσατο (spared), ἀλλὰ (but) σειραῖς* (in chains) ζόφου (of gloomy darkness) ταρταρώσας (having cast them down to Tartarus), παρέδωκεν (delivered them), εἰς (for) κρίσιν (judgment) τηρουμένους (being kept);

⁹ ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Μιχαὴλ (Michael) ὁ (the) ἀρχάγγελος (archangel), ὅτε (when) τῷ (with the) διαβόλῳ (devil) διακρινόμενος (disputing), διελέγετο (he was reasoning) περὶ (about) τοῦ (-) Μωϋσέως (Moses’) σώματος (body), οὐκ (not) ἐτόλμησεν (did dare) κρίσιν (a judgment) ἐπενεγκεῖν (to bring against him) βλασφημίας (blasphemous), ἀλλὰ (but) εἶπεν (said), “Ἐπιτιμήσαι (Rebuke) σοι (you), Κύριος (the Lord).”

³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) οὐρὰ (tail) αὐτοῦ (of him) σύρει (drags) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (he cast) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἕστηκεν (stands) ἐνώπιον (before) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (woman) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) τεκεῖν (to bring forth), ἵνα (so that) ὅταν (when) τέκῃ (she should bring forth), τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) καταφάγῃ (he might devour).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) νικῆσαι (to overcome) αὐτούς (them). καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) πᾶσαν (every) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) λαὸν (people) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) ἔθνος (nation).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war). ¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself), ¹³ καὶ (and) περιβεβλημένος (having been clothed with) ἱμάτιον (a garment) βεβαμμένον (having been dipped) αἵματι (in blood). καὶ (And) κέκληται (is called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ὁ (The) Λόγος (Word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) τὰ (who were) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἠκολούθει (were following) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐφ’ (upon) ἵπποις (horses) λευκοῖς (white), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λευκὸν (white), καθαρόν (pure). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth) ῥομφαία (a sword) ὀξεῖα (sharp), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (with) αὐτῇ (it) πατάξῃ (He may strike down) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron). καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) πατεῖ (treads) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (press) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) ἔχει (He has) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) ἱμάτιον (robe) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) μηρὸν (thigh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written): ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ (King) ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ (of Kings) ΚΑΙ (and) ΚΥΡΙΟΣ (Lord) ΚΥΡΙΩΝ (of Lords). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἕνα (one) ἄγγελον (angel) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγων (saying) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ὀρνέοις (birds) τοῖς (-) πετομένοις (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), “Δεῦτε (Come), συνάχθητε (gather yourselves) εἰς (unto) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τὸ (-) μέγα (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ¹⁸ ἵνα (so that) φάγητε (you may eat) σάρκας (the flesh) βασιλέων (of kings), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) χιλιάρχων (of commanders), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἰσχυρῶν (of mighty men), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἵππων (of horses) καὶ (and) τῶν (of those) καθημένων (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) πάντων (of all), ἐλευθέρων (free) τε (both) καὶ (and) δούλων (slaves), καὶ (and) μικρῶν (small) καὶ (and) μεγάλων (great).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone).

¹⁸ κἀγὼ (I also) δέ (now) σοι (to you) λέγω (say) ὅτι (that) σὺ (you) εἶ (are) Πέτρος (Peter), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (the) πέτρᾳ (rock) οἰκοδομήσω (I will build) μου (My) τὴν (-) ἐκκλησίαν (church), καὶ (and) πύλαι (the gates) ᾅδου (of hades) οὐ (not) κατισχύσουσιν (will prevail against) αὐτῆς (it).

²⁵ λαβεῖν (to take) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τῆς (of the) διακονίας (ministry) ταύτης (this) καὶ (and) ἀποστολῆς (apostleship), ἀφ’ (from) ἧς (which) παρέβη (turned aside) Ἰούδας (Judas) πορευθῆναι (to go) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τὸν (-) ἴδιον (own).”

³¹ Τί (What) οὖν (then) ἐροῦμεν (will we say) πρὸς (to) ταῦτα (these things)? εἰ (If) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God is) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us), τίς (who can be) καθ’ (against) ἡμῶν (us)? ³² ὅς (He who) γε (indeed) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own) Υἱοῦ (Son) οὐκ (not) ἐφείσατο (spared), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us) πάντων (all) παρέδωκεν (gave up) αὐτόν (Him), πῶς (how) οὐχὶ (not) καὶ (also) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him), τὰ (things) πάντα (all) ἡμῖν (us) χαρίσεται (will He grant)? ³³ τίς (Who) ἐγκαλέσει (will bring an accusation) κατὰ (against) ἐκλεκτῶν (the elect) Θεοῦ (of God)? Θεὸς (God is) ὁ (the One) δικαιῶν (justifying). ³⁴ τίς (Who is) ὁ (the one) κατακρινῶν (condemning)? Χριστὸς (For it is Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the one) ἀποθανών (having died), μᾶλλον (rather) δὲ (now) ἐγερθείς (having been raised up), ὅς (who) ‹καί› (also) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (at the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὃς (who) καὶ (and) ἐντυγχάνει (is interceding) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us). ³⁵ Τίς (Who) ἡμᾶς (us) χωρίσει (will separate) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ)? θλῖψις (Tribulation), ἢ (or) στενοχωρία (distress), ἢ (or) διωγμὸς (persecution), ἢ (or) λιμὸς (famine), ἢ (or) γυμνότης (nakedness), ἢ (or) κίνδυνος (danger), ἢ (or) μάχαιρα (sword)? ³⁶ καθὼς (As) γέγραπται (it has been written) ὅτι (-): “Ἕνεκεν (For the sake) σοῦ (of you), θανατούμεθα (we face death) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) ἡμέραν (day); ἐλογίσθημεν (we were regarded) ὡς (as) πρόβατα (sheep) σφαγῆς (of slaughter).” ³⁷ Ἀλλ’ (But) ἐν (in) τούτοις (these things) πᾶσιν (all), ὑπερνικῶμεν (we more than conquer) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the One) ἀγαπήσαντος (having loved) ἡμᾶς (us). ³⁸ πέπεισμαι (I am persuaded) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) οὔτε (neither) θάνατος (death), οὔτε (nor) ζωὴ (life), οὔτε (nor) ἄγγελοι (angels), οὔτε (nor) ἀρχαὶ (principalities), οὔτε (nor) ἐνεστῶτα (things present), οὔτε (nor) μέλλοντα (things to come), οὔτε (nor) δυνάμεις (powers), ³⁹ οὔτε (nor) ὕψωμα (height), οὔτε (nor) βάθος (depth), οὔτε (nor) τις (any) κτίσις (created thing) ἑτέρα (other), δυνήσεται (will be able) ἡμᾶς (us) χωρίσαι (to separate) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τῆς (-) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us).

⁶ ἀγγέλους (The angels) τε (both) τοὺς (-) μὴ (not) τηρήσαντας (having kept) τὴν (own) ἑαυτῶν (their) ἀρχὴν (domain), ἀλλὰ (but) ἀπολιπόντας (having left) τὸ (the) ἴδιον (own) οἰκητήριον (dwelling), εἰς (unto) κρίσιν (the judgment) μεγάλης (of the great) ἡμέρας (day), δεσμοῖς (in chains) ἀϊδίοις (eternal) ὑπὸ (under) ζόφον (darkness) τετήρηκεν (He keeps),

¹¹ καὶ (And) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐνίκησαν (have overcome) αὐτὸν (him) διὰ (by reason) τὸ (of the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) διὰ (by reason of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) μαρτυρίας (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠγάπησαν (they have loved) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτῶν (of them) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death).

¹ Τότε (Then) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀνήχθη (was led up) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) πειρασθῆναι (to be tempted) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil).

⁵ Τότε (Then) παραλαμβάνει (takes) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) ἁγίαν (holy) πόλιν (city) καὶ (and) ἔστησεν (sets) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) πτερύγιον (pinnacle) τοῦ (of the) ἱεροῦ (temple),

⁸ Πάλιν (Again) παραλαμβάνει (takes) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) εἰς (to) ὄρος (a mountain) ὑψηλὸν (high) λίαν (exceedingly), καὶ (and) δείκνυσιν (shows) αὐτῷ (to Him) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) βασιλείας (kingdoms) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῶν (of them),

¹⁰ Τότε (Then) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ὕπαγε (Get you away), Σατανᾶ (Satan); γέγραπται (it has been written) γάρ (for): ‘Κύριον (The Lord) τὸν (the) θεόν (God) σου (of you), προσκυνήσεις (you shall worship), καὶ (and) αὐτῷ (Him) μόνῳ (alone) λατρεύσεις (shall you serve).’”

²⁴ ἐγερθήσονται (There will arise) γὰρ (for) ψευδόχριστοι (false Christs) καὶ (and) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets), καὶ (and) δώσουσιν (they will give) σημεῖα (signs) μεγάλα (great), καὶ (and) τέρατα (wonders), ὥστε (so as) πλανῆσαι (to mislead), εἰ (if) δυνατὸν (possible), καὶ (even) τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτούς (elect).

¹² οἱ (Those) δὲ (now) παρὰ (along) τὴν (the) ὁδόν (road) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (those) ἀκούσαντες (having heard); εἶτα (then) ἔρχεται (comes) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) καὶ (and) αἴρει (takes away) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) καρδίας (heart) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) σωθῶσιν (they should be saved).

¹⁸ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἐθεώρουν (I beheld) τὸν (-) Σατανᾶν (Satan) ὡς (as) ἀστραπὴν (lightning) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πεσόντα (having fallen).

¹⁶ ταύτην (This) δὲ (now), θυγατέρα (a daughter) Ἀβραὰμ (of Abraham) οὖσαν (being), ἣν (whom) ἔδησεν (has bound) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), ἰδοὺ (behold), δέκα (ten) καὶ (and) ὀκτὼ (eight) ἔτη (years), οὐκ (not) ἔδει (ought she) λυθῆναι (to be loosed) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) δεσμοῦ (bond) τούτου (this) τῇ (on the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) τοῦ (of the) σαββάτου (Sabbath)?”

³ Εἰσῆλθεν (Entered) δὲ (then) Σατανᾶς (Satan) εἰς (into) Ἰούδαν (Judas), τὸν (the one) καλούμενον (being called) Ἰσκαριώτην (Iscariot), ὄντα (being) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ἀριθμοῦ (number) τῶν (of the) δώδεκα (Twelve).

³¹ Σίμων (Simon), Σίμων (Simon), ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) ἐξῃτήσατο (demanded to have) ὑμᾶς (all of you) τοῦ (-) σινιάσαι (to sift) ὡς (like) τὸν (-) σῖτον (wheat);

³¹ νῦν (Now) κρίσις (the judgment) ἐστὶν (is) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (of this); νῦν (now) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (prince) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (this) ἐκβληθήσεται (will be cast) ἔξω (out).

³⁰ Οὐκέτι (No longer) πολλὰ (much) λαλήσω (I will speak) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you); ἔρχεται (comes) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) τοῦ (of this) κόσμου (world) ἄρχων (ruler), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (he has) οὐδέν (nothing);

¹¹ περὶ (concerning) δὲ (now) κρίσεως (judgment), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (ruler) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (this) κέκριται (has been judged).

³ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (however) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter), “Ἁνανία (Ananias), διὰ (because of) τί (why) ἐπλήρωσεν (has filled) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) σου (of you) ψεύσασθαί (to lie to) σε (for you) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) καὶ (and) νοσφίσασθαι (to keep back) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) τιμῆς (proceeds) τοῦ (of the) χωρίου (land)?

¹⁸ ἀνοῖξαι (to open) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them), τοῦ (that) ἐπιστρέψαι (they may turn) ἀπὸ (from) σκότους (darkness) εἰς (to) φῶς (light), καὶ (and) τῆς (from the) ἐξουσίας (power) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan) ἐπὶ (to) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), τοῦ (that) λαβεῖν (may receive) αὐτοὺς (they) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) καὶ (and) κλῆρον (an inheritance) ἐν (among) τοῖς (those) ἡγιασμένοις (having been sanctified) πίστει (by faith) τῇ (that is) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me).’

¹⁸ οἱ (-) γὰρ (For) τοιοῦτοι (such) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Χριστῷ (Christ) οὐ (not) δουλεύουσιν (serve), ἀλλὰ (but) τῇ (the) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves) κοιλίᾳ (belly); καὶ (and) διὰ (by) τῆς (-) χρηστολογίας (smooth talk) καὶ (and) εὐλογίας (flattery) ἐξαπατῶσιν (they deceive) τὰς (the) καρδίας (hearts) τῶν (of the) ἀκάκων (naive).

²⁰ Ὁ (The) δὲ (now) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) συντρίψει (will crush) τὸν (-) Σατανᾶν (Satan) ὑπὸ (under) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (in) τάχει (a short time). Ἡ (The) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ‹Χριστοῦ› (Christ) μεθ’ (be with) ὑμῶν (you).

¹¹ ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) πλεονεκτηθῶμεν (we should be outwitted) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (Satan); οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) αὐτοῦ (of his) τὰ (-) νοήματα (schemes) ἀγνοοῦμεν (we are ignorant).

⁴ ἐν (in) οἷς (whom) ὁ (the) θεὸς (god) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age) τούτου (this) ἐτύφλωσεν (has blinded) τὰ (the) νοήματα (minds) τῶν (of the) ἀπίστων (unbelieving), εἰς (so as for) τὸ (-) μὴ (not) αὐγάσαι (to beam forth) τὸν (the) φωτισμὸν (illumination) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) εἰκὼν (the image) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

³ Φοβοῦμαι (I am afraid) δὲ (however), μή (lest) πως (by any means) ὡς (as) ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ἐξηπάτησεν (deceived) Εὕαν (Eve) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) πανουργίᾳ (craftiness) αὐτοῦ (of him), φθαρῇ (might be corrupted) τὰ (the) νοήματα (minds) ὑμῶν (of you) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἁπλότητος (simplicity) καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ἁγνότητος (purity) τῆς (-) εἰς (in) ‹τὸν› (-) Χριστόν (Christ).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) οὐ (no) θαῦμα (wonder); αὐτὸς (himself) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) μετασχηματίζεται (masquerades) εἰς (as) ἄγγελον (an angel) φωτός (of light).

¹⁴ ἵνα (so that) μηκέτι (no longer) ὦμεν (we might be) νήπιοι (infants), κλυδωνιζόμενοι (being tossed by waves) καὶ (and) περιφερόμενοι (being carried about) παντὶ (by every) ἀνέμῳ (wind) τῆς (-) διδασκαλίας (of teaching), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) κυβείᾳ* (cunning) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men) ἐν (in) πανουργίᾳ (craftiness), πρὸς (with a view to) τὴν (the) μεθοδείαν (scheming) τῆς (-) πλάνης (of deceit).

³ μή (No) τις (one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐξαπατήσῃ (should deceive) κατὰ (in) μηδένα (not one) τρόπον (way), ὅτι (because it is) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not until) ἔλθῃ (shall have come) ἡ (the) ἀποστασία (apostasy) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and) ἀποκαλυφθῇ (shall have been revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνθρωπος (man) τῆς (-) ἀνομίας (of lawlessness), ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) τῆς (-) ἀπωλείας (of destruction),

⁹ οὗ (whose) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (-) παρουσία (coming), κατ’ (according to) ἐνέργειαν (the working) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) δυνάμει (power), καὶ (and) σημείοις (in signs), καὶ (and) τέρασιν (in wonders) ψεύδους (of falsehood), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false),

¹⁴ καὶ (And) Ἀδὰμ (Adam) οὐκ (not) ἠπατήθη (was deceived); ἡ (-) δὲ (but) γυνὴ (the woman), ἐξαπατηθεῖσα (having been deceived), ἐν (into) παραβάσει (transgression) γέγονεν (has come).

⁶ μὴ (not) νεόφυτον (a novice), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) τυφωθεὶς (having been puffed up), εἰς (into) κρίμα (the judgment) ἐμπέσῃ (he might fall) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil). ⁷ δεῖ (It behooves him) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) μαρτυρίαν (a testimony) καλὴν (good) ἔχειν (to have) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (those) ἔξωθεν (outside), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) εἰς (into) ὀνειδισμὸν (reproach) ἐμπέσῃ (he might fall), καὶ (and) παγίδα (the snare) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil).

¹³ πονηροὶ (Evil) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωποι (men) καὶ (and) γόητες (imposters) προκόψουσιν (will advance) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (-) χεῖρον (worse), πλανῶντες (deceiving) καὶ (and) πλανώμενοι (being deceived).

¹⁴ Ἐπεὶ (Since) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) παιδία (children) κεκοινώνηκεν (have partaken) αἵματος (of blood) καὶ (and) σαρκός (of flesh) καὶ (also), αὐτὸς (He) παραπλησίως (likewise) μετέσχεν (took part in) τῶν (the) αὐτῶν (same things), ἵνα (so that) διὰ (through) τοῦ (His) θανάτου (death), καταργήσῃ (He might destroy) τὸν (the one) τὸ (the) κράτος (power) ἔχοντα (holding) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (of death), τοῦτ’ (that) ἔστιν (is), τὸν (the) διάβολον (devil),

⁸ ὁ (The one) ποιῶν (practicing) τὴν (-) ἁμαρτίαν (sin), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil) ἐστίν (is), ὅτι (because) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἁμαρτάνει (has been sinning). εἰς (For) τοῦτο (this reason) ἐφανερώθη (was revealed) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) λύσῃ (He might destroy) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil). ⁹ Πᾶς (Anyone) ὁ (-) γεγεννημένος (having been born) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἁμαρτίαν (sin) οὐ (not) ποιεῖ (practices), ὅτι (because) σπέρμα (seed) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) δύναται (he is able) ἁμαρτάνειν (to continue sinning), ὅτι (because) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) γεγέννηται (he has been born). ¹⁰ ἐν (Through) τούτῳ (this) φανερά (manifest) ἐστιν (are) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil): πᾶς (Anyone) ὁ (-) μὴ (not) ποιῶν (practicing) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and also) ὁ (the one) μὴ (not) ἀγαπῶν (loving) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him).

¹⁹ οἴδαμεν (We know) ὅτι (that) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐσμεν (we are), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ὅλος (whole), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) πονηρῷ (evil one) κεῖται (lies).

⁹ Οἶδά (I know) σου (your) τὴν (-) θλῖψιν (tribulation) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) πτωχείαν (poverty) — ἀλλὰ (but) πλούσιος (rich) εἶ (you are) — καὶ (and) τὴν (the) βλασφημίαν (slander) ἐκ (of) τῶν (those) λεγόντων (claiming) Ἰουδαίους (Jews) εἶναι (to be) ἑαυτούς (themselves), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) εἰσίν (are), ἀλλὰ (but) συναγωγὴ (a synagogue) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan).

¹³ Οἶδα (I know) ποῦ (where) κατοικεῖς (you dwell), ὅπου (where) ὁ (the) θρόνος (throne) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan is); καὶ (and) κρατεῖς (you hold fast to) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠρνήσω (you have denied) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) μου (of Me), καὶ (even) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) Ἀντιπᾶς (of Antipas), ὁ (the) μάρτυς (witness) μου (of Me), ὁ (the) πιστός (faithful one) μου (of Me) ὃς (who) ἀπεκτάνθη (was killed) παρ’ (among) ὑμῖν (you), ὅπου (where) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) κατοικεῖ (dwells).

²⁴ Ὑμῖν (To you) δὲ (however) λέγω (I say), τοῖς (to the) λοιποῖς (rest) τοῖς (of those) ἐν (in) Θυατείροις (Thyatira), ὅσοι (as many as) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (have) τὴν (the) διδαχὴν (teaching) ταύτην (this), οἵτινες (who) οὐκ (not) ἔγνωσαν (have known) τὰ (the) βαθέα (depths) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ὡς (as) λέγουσιν (they say): οὐ (Not) βάλλω (I will cast) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you) ἄλλο (any other) βάρος (burden).

⁹ ἰδοὺ (Behold), διδῶ (I give) ἐκ (those from) τῆς (the) συναγωγῆς (synagogue) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan)— τῶν (those) λεγόντων (declaring) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) Ἰουδαίους (Jews) εἶναι (to be), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (are), ἀλλὰ (but) ψεύδονται (they lie)— ἰδοὺ (behold), ποιήσω (I will cause) αὐτοὺς (them) ἵνα (that) ἥξουσιν (they will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) σου (of you), καὶ (and) γνῶσιν (they shall know) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἠγάπησά (have loved) σε (you).

¹ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) ἀστέρα (a star) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πεπτωκότα (having fallen) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἡ (the) κλεὶς (key) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss).

²⁰ ‹Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) τῶν (of the) ἀνθρώπων (men) οἳ (who) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (by) ταῖς (the) πληγαῖς (plagues) ταύταις (these) οὐδὲ (not even) μετενόησαν (repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὰ (the) δαιμόνια (demons), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) εἴδωλα (idols) τὰ (-) χρυσᾶ (golden) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἀργυρᾶ (silver) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) χαλκᾶ (bronze) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) λίθινα (stone) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ξύλινα (wooden), ἃ (which) οὔτε (neither) βλέπειν (to see) δύνανται (are able), οὔτε (nor) ἀκούειν (to hear), οὔτε (nor) περιπατεῖν› (to walk).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (there was) πόλεμος (war) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven): ὁ (-) Μιχαὴλ (Michael) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him) τοῦ (-) πολεμῆσαι (warred) μετὰ (against) τοῦ (the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπολέμησεν (warred back), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) ἐδόθησαν (were given) τῇ (to the) γυναικὶ (woman) αἱ (the) δύο (two) πτέρυγες (wings) τοῦ (of the) ἀετοῦ (eagle) τοῦ (-) μεγάλου (great), ἵνα (so that) πέτηται (she could fly) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), εἰς (into) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) αὐτῆς (of her), ὅπου (where) τρέφεται (she is nourished) ἐκεῖ (there) καιρὸν (a time), καὶ (and) καιροὺς (times), καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (half) καιροῦ (a time) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the) ὄφεως (serpent). ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔβαλεν (cast) ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὀπίσω (after) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (woman) ὕδωρ (water) ὡς (as) ποταμόν (a river), ἵνα (so that) αὐτὴν (her) ποταμοφόρητον (carried away by a flood) ποιήσῃ (he might cause to be).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) πλανᾷ (it deceives) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), διὰ (by reason of) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἃ (that) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to perform) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast), λέγων (telling) τοῖς (those) κατοικοῦσιν (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ποιῆσαι (to make) εἰκόνα (an image) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) ὃς (that) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) πληγὴν (wound) τῆς (of the) μαχαίρης (sword) καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (has lived).

¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

² καὶ (And) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) ἰσχυρᾷ (a mighty) φωνῇ (voice), λέγων (saying): “Ἔπεσεν (Fallen), ἔπεσεν (Fallen is) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great)! καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (she has become) κατοικητήριον (a habitation) δαιμονίων (of demons), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) πνεύματος (spirit) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) ὀρνέου (bird) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), ‹καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) θηρίου (creature) ἀκαθάρτου› (unclean) καὶ (and) μεμισημένου (having been hated).

²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone).

² καὶ (And) ἐκράτησεν (he seized) τὸν (the) δράκοντα (dragon), ὁ (the) ὄφις (serpent) ὁ (-) ἀρχαῖος (ancient), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) Διάβολος (the devil) καὶ (and) Ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), καὶ (and) ἔδησεν (bound) αὐτὸν (him) χίλια (for a thousand) ἔτη (years). ³ καὶ (And) ἔβαλεν (he cast) αὐτὸν (him) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἄβυσσον (Abyss), καὶ (and) ἔκλεισεν (shut) καὶ (and) ἐσφράγισεν (sealed it) ἐπάνω (over) αὐτοῦ (him), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) πλανήσῃ (he should deceive) ἔτι (any longer) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations), ἄχρι (until) τελεσθῇ (were completed) τὰ (the) χίλια (thousand) ἔτη (years). μετὰ (After these) ταῦτα (things), δεῖ (it is necessary for) λυθῆναι (to be released) αὐτὸν (him) μικρὸν (for a little) χρόνον (time).

⁸ καὶ (and) ἐξελεύσεται (will go out) πλανῆσαι (to deceive) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) τέσσαρσιν (four) γωνίαις (corners) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), τὸν (-) Γὼγ (Gog) καὶ (and) Μαγώγ (Magog), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (war), ὧν (of whom) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number is) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (like) ἡ (the) ἄμμος (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil), ὁ (the one) πλανῶν (deceiving) αὐτοὺς (them), ἐβλήθη (was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire) καὶ (and) θείου (of sulfur), ὅπου (where are) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσονται (they will be tormented) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹⁸ Καὶ (And) προσελθὼν (having come to them), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) αὐτοῖς (to them), λέγων (saying), “Ἐδόθη (Has been given) μοι (to Me) πᾶσα (all) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

⁹ καὶ (And) εἴρηκέν (He said) μοι (to me), “Ἀρκεῖ (Suffices) σοι (you) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) μου (of Me); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δύναμις (power) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείᾳ (weakness) τελεῖται (is perfected).” Ἥδιστα (Most gladly) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (rather) καυχήσομαι (will I boast) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses) ‹μου› (of me), ἵνα (so that) ἐπισκηνώσῃ (may rest) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμὲ (me) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ).

³ πρεσβύτιδας (the aged women) ὡσαύτως (likewise), ἐν (in) καταστήματι (behavior) ἱεροπρεπεῖς (reverent), μὴ (not) διαβόλους (slanderers), μηδὲ (not) οἴνῳ (to wine) πολλῷ (much) δεδουλωμένας (being enslaved), καλοδιδασκάλους (teachers of what is good),

²⁶ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) νικῶν (overcoming) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) τηρῶν (keeping) ἄχρι (until) τέλους (the end) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) μου (of Me), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (nations),

¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (loud) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λεγόντων (crying out): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ἡ (The) σωτηρία (salvation) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (to the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us)! ² ὅτι (For) ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (He has judged) τὴν (the) πόρνην (prostitute) τὴν (-) μεγάλην (great), ἥτις (who) ἔφθειρεν (had corrupted) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) πορνείᾳ (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἐξεδίκησεν (He has avenged) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τῶν (of the) δούλων (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐκ (out of) χειρὸς (the hand) αὐτῆς (of her).” ³ Καὶ (And) δεύτερον (a second time) εἴρηκαν (they said): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) αὐτῆς (of her) ἀναβαίνει (goes up) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσαν (fell down) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἀμήν (Amen), Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)!” ⁵ Καὶ (And) φωνὴ (a voice) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐξῆλθεν (came forth), λέγουσα (saying): “Αἰνεῖτε (Praise) τῷ (the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), πάντες (all) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‹καὶ› (and) οἱ (those) φοβούμενοι (fearing) αὐτόν (Him), οἱ (the) μικροὶ (small) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγάλοι (great)!” ⁶ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (the voice) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (the sound) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (a sound) βροντῶν (of thunders) ἰσχυρῶν (mighty), λεγόντων (saying): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ὅτι (For) ἐβασίλευσεν (has reigned) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty). ⁷ χαίρωμεν (We should rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιῶμεν (should exult), καὶ (and) δώσομεν (will give) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῷ (to Him), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ὁ (the) γάμος (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (bride) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἡτοίμασεν (has made ready) ἑαυτήν (herself).

²⁶ “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἔρχεται (comes) πρός (to) με (Me), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μισεῖ (hates) τὸν (the) πατέρα (father) ἑαυτοῦ* (of himself) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μητέρα (mother) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (wife) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἀδελφάς (sisters), ἔτι (yes), τε (and) καὶ (even) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) ἑαυτοῦ (of him), οὐ (not) δύναται (he is able) εἶναί (to be) μου (of Me) μαθητής (disciple).

³³ ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have spoken) ὑμῖν (to you) ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχητε (you may have). ἐν (In) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἔχετε (you have). ἀλλὰ (But) θαρσεῖτε (take courage); ἐγὼ (I) νενίκηκα (have overcome) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).”

²⁴ ἀλλ’ (But) οὐδενὸς (not any) λόγου (account) ποιοῦμαι (I make) τὴν (my) ψυχὴν (life) τιμίαν (dear) ἐμαυτῷ (to myself), ὡς (so as) τελειῶσαι* (to finish) τὸν (the) δρόμον (course) μου (of me), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) ἣν (that) ἔλαβον (I received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), διαμαρτύρασθαι (to testify fully) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹³ Τότε (Then) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul), “Τί (What) ποιεῖτε (are you doing), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) συνθρύπτοντές (breaking) μου (my) τὴν (-) καρδίαν (heart)? ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) δεθῆναι (to be bound), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἀποθανεῖν (to die) εἰς (at) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), ἑτοίμως (readiness) ἔχω (have), ὑπὲρ (for) τοῦ (the) ὀνόματος (name) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).”

⁵⁷ τῷ (to) δὲ (however) Θεῷ (God) χάρις (be thanks), τῷ (the One) διδόντι (giving) ἡμῖν (us) τὸ (the) νῖκος (victory) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

³ Ἐν (In) σαρκὶ (flesh) γὰρ (for) περιπατοῦντες (walking), οὐ (not) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) στρατευόμεθα (do we wage war). ⁴ τὰ (The) γὰρ (for) ὅπλα (weapons) τῆς (of the) στρατείας (warfare) ἡμῶν (of us) οὐ (are not) σαρκικὰ (fleshly), ἀλλὰ (but) δυνατὰ (powerful) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (divinely) πρὸς (to) καθαίρεσιν (the demolition) ὀχυρωμάτων (of strongholds), ⁵ λογισμοὺς (arguments) καθαιροῦντες (overthrowing), καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) ὕψωμα (high thing) ἐπαιρόμενον (lifting itself up) κατὰ (against) τῆς (the) γνώσεως (knowledge) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) αἰχμαλωτίζοντες (taking captive) πᾶν (every) νόημα (thought) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ),

¹³ Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), ἀναλάβετε (take up) τὴν (the) πανοπλίαν (complete armor) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) δυνηθῆτε (you may be able) ἀντιστῆναι (to withstand) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) τῇ (-) πονηρᾷ (evil), καὶ (and) ἅπαντα (all things) κατεργασάμενοι (having done), στῆναι (to stand). ¹⁴ στῆτε (Stand) οὖν (therefore), περιζωσάμενοι (having girded) τὴν (the) ὀσφὺν (loins) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (with) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), καὶ (and) ἐνδυσάμενοι (having put on) τὸν (the) θώρακα (breastplate) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness), ¹⁵ καὶ (and) ὑποδησάμενοι (having shod) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) ἐν (with) ἑτοιμασίᾳ (the readiness) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace); ¹⁶ ἐν (besides) πᾶσιν (all), ἀναλαβόντες (having taken up) τὸν (the) θυρεὸν (shield) τῆς (-) πίστεως (of faith), ἐν (with) ᾧ (which) δυνήσεσθε (you will be able) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) βέλη (arrows) τοῦ (of the) πονηροῦ (evil one) τὰ (-) πεπυρωμένα (flaming) σβέσαι (to quench). ¹⁷ καὶ (And) τὴν (the) περικεφαλαίαν (helmet) τοῦ (-) σωτηρίου (of salvation) δέξασθε (take), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μάχαιραν (sword) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ῥῆμα (the word) Θεοῦ (of God), ¹⁸ διὰ (through) πάσης (all) προσευχῆς (prayer) καὶ (and) δεήσεως (supplication), προσευχόμενοι (praying) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) καιρῷ (season) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἰς (unto) αὐτὸ (this very thing), ἀγρυπνοῦντες (watching) ἐν (with) πάσῃ (all) προσκαρτερήσει (perseverance) καὶ (and) δεήσει (supplication) περὶ (for) πάντων (all) τῶν (-) ἁγίων (saints),

⁷ τὸν (The) καλὸν (good) ἀγῶνα (fight) ἠγώνισμαι (I have fought), τὸν (the) δρόμον (race) τετέλεκα (I have finished), τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) τετήρηκα (I have kept). ⁸ λοιπὸν (From now on) ἀπόκειταί (is laid up) μοι (for me) ὁ (the) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) στέφανος (crown), ὃν (which) ἀποδώσει (will award) μοι (to me) ὁ (the) κύριος (Lord) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ἡμέρᾳ (day), ὁ (the) δίκαιος (righteous) κριτής (judge); οὐ (not) μόνον (only) δὲ (however) ἐμοὶ (to me), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) πᾶσι (to all) τοῖς (those) ἠγαπηκόσι (loving) τὴν (the) ἐπιφάνειαν (appearing) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁴ Ἐπεὶ (Since) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) παιδία (children) κεκοινώνηκεν (have partaken) αἵματος (of blood) καὶ (and) σαρκός (of flesh) καὶ (also), αὐτὸς (He) παραπλησίως (likewise) μετέσχεν (took part in) τῶν (the) αὐτῶν (same things), ἵνα (so that) διὰ (through) τοῦ (His) θανάτου (death), καταργήσῃ (He might destroy) τὸν (the one) τὸ (the) κράτος (power) ἔχοντα (holding) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (of death), τοῦτ’ (that) ἔστιν (is), τὸν (the) διάβολον (devil), ¹⁵ καὶ (and) ἀπαλλάξῃ (might set free) τούτους (those) ὅσοι (who) φόβῳ (fear) θανάτου (of death) διὰ (through) παντὸς (all) τοῦ (their time) ζῆν (to live), ἔνοχοι (subject) ἦσαν (were) δουλείας (to slavery).

³⁵ Ἔλαβον (Received back) γυναῖκες (women) ἐξ (by) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) τοὺς (the) νεκροὺς (dead) αὐτῶν (of them); ἄλλοι (others) δὲ (then) ἐτυμπανίσθησαν (were tortured), οὐ (not) προσδεξάμενοι (having accepted) τὴν (-) ἀπολύτρωσιν (release), ἵνα (so that) κρείττονος (a better) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) τύχωσιν (they might obtain). ³⁶ ἕτεροι (Others) δὲ (then) ἐμπαιγμῶν (of mockings) καὶ (and) μαστίγων (of scourgings), πεῖραν (trial) ἔλαβον (received); ἔτι (in addition), δὲ (also) δεσμῶν (of chains) καὶ (and) φυλακῆς (imprisonment). ³⁷ Ἐλιθάσθησαν (They were stoned), ἐπρίσθησαν (they were sawed in two), ἐν (by) φόνῳ (slaughter) μαχαίρης (of the sword) ἀπέθανον (they were killed); περιῆλθον (they wandered) ἐν (in) μηλωταῖς (sheepskins), ἐν (in) αἰγείοις (goats’) δέρμασιν (skins), ὑστερούμενοι (being destitute), θλιβόμενοι (being oppressed), κακουχούμενοι (being mistreated); ³⁸ ὧν (of whom) οὐκ (not) ἦν (was) ἄξιος (worthy) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world); ἐπὶ (in) ἐρημίαις (deserts) πλανώμενοι (wandering), καὶ (and) ὄρεσιν (mountains), καὶ (and) σπηλαίοις (caves), καὶ (and) ταῖς (-) ὀπαῖς (holes) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).

Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), παιδία (little children), ὅτι (because) ἐγνώκατε (you know) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father). ¹⁴ Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), πατέρες (fathers), ὅτι (because) ἐγνώκατε (you know) τὸν (Him who is) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning). Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), νεανίσκοι (young men), ὅτι (because) ἰσχυροί (strong) ἐστε (you are), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) νενικήκατε (you have overcome) τὸν (the) πονηρόν (evil one).

⁴ Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστε (are), τεκνία (little children), καὶ (and) νενικήκατε (have overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) μείζων (greater) ἐστὶν (is) ὁ (the One) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ἢ (than) ὁ (the one) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world).

⁵ Τίς (Who) ‹δέ› (now) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the one) νικῶν (overcoming) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God)?

² ὃς (who) ἐμαρτύρησεν (testified) τὸν (to the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὴν (to the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὅσα (as much as) εἶδεν (he saw).

⁹ Ἐγὼ (I) Ἰωάννης (John), ὁ (the) ἀδελφὸς (brother) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) συνκοινωνὸς (fellow-partaker) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θλίψει (tribulation) καὶ (and) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) καὶ (and) ὑπομονῇ (endurance) ἐν (in) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἐγενόμην (was) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νήσῳ (island) τῇ (-) καλουμένῃ (called) Πάτμῳ (Patmos), διὰ (on account of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus).

⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (To the one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) φαγεῖν (to eat) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ξύλου (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Παραδείσῳ (paradise) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹⁰ Μηδὲν* (Not) φοβοῦ (fear) ἃ (what) μέλλεις (you are about) πάσχειν (to suffer). ἰδοὺ (Behold), μέλλει (is about) βάλλειν (to cast) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἐξ (some of) ὑμῶν (you) εἰς (into) φυλακὴν (prison), ἵνα (so that) πειρασθῆτε (you might be tested); καὶ (and) ἕξετε (you shall have) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἡμερῶν (days) δέκα (ten). γίνου (Be) πιστὸς (faithful) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death), καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) σοι (to you) τὸν (the) στέφανον (crown) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life). ¹¹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀδικηθῇ (shall be injured) ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) θανάτου (death) τοῦ (-) δευτέρου (second).

¹⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (The one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τοῦ (the) μάννα (manna) τοῦ (-) κεκρυμμένου (having been hidden); καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ψῆφον (stone) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) ψῆφον (stone) ὄνομα (a name) καινὸν (new) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (has known), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λαμβάνων (receiving it).

⁵ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), οὕτως (thus) περιβαλεῖται (will be clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white). καὶ (And) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξαλείψω (will I blot out) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) βίβλου (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ὁμολογήσω (I will confess) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹² Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), ποιήσω (I will make) αὐτὸν (him) στῦλον (a pillar) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἔξω (out) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξέλθῃ (shall he go) ἔτι (anymore). καὶ (And) γράψω (I will write) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), τῆς (the) καινῆς (new) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), ἡ (-) καταβαίνουσα (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me) τὸ (-) καινόν (new).

²¹ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) καθίσαι (to sit) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) μου (of Me), ὡς (as) κἀγὼ (I also) ἐνίκησα (overcame) καὶ (and) ἐκάθισα (sat down) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἤνοιξεν (He opened) τὴν (the) πέμπτην (fifth) σφραγῖδα (seal), εἶδον (I saw) ὑποκάτω (under) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) τῶν (of those) ἐσφαγμένων (having been slain) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἣν (which) εἶχον (they had upheld).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ¹² λέγοντες (saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen)! ἡ (-) εὐλογία (Blessing), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) σοφία (wisdom), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἰσχὺς (strength), τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages)! ἀμήν (Amen).” ¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) τελέσωσιν (they shall have completed) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them), τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) τὸ (-) ἀναβαῖνον (coming up) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ἀβύσσου (abyss) ποιήσει (will make) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) πόλεμον (war), καὶ (and) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) ἀποκτενεῖ (will kill) αὐτούς (them).

¹⁷ καὶ (And) ὠργίσθη (was angry) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπὶ (with) τῇ (the) γυναικί (woman), καὶ (and) ἀπῆλθεν (went) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (rest) τοῦ (of the) σπέρματος (children) αὐτῆς (of her) τῶν (-) τηρούντων (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐστάθη (he stood) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) ἑστὸς (was standing) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (-) ὄρος (Mount) Σιών (Zion), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἔχουσαι (having) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him) γεγραμμένον (having been written) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them). ² καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), ὡς (as) φωνὴν (the sound) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many), καὶ (and) ὡς (as) φωνὴν (the sound) βροντῆς (of thunder) μεγάλης (loud). καὶ (And) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (voice) ἣν (that) ἤκουσα (I heard), ὡς (was like that) κιθαρῳδῶν (of harpists) κιθαριζόντων (harping) ἐν (with) ταῖς (the) κιθάραις (harps) αὐτῶν (of them). ³ Καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ‹ὡς› (as) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders). καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able) μαθεῖν (to learn) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αἱ (the) ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand) οἱ (-) ἠγορασμένοι (having been redeemed) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth). ⁴ οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἳ (they who) μετὰ (with) γυναικῶν (women) οὐκ (not) ἐμολύνθησαν (have not been defiled); παρθένοι (pure) γάρ (for) εἰσιν (they are), οὗτοι (these) οἱ (-) ἀκολουθοῦντες (following) τῷ (the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb) ὅπου (wherever) ἂν (-) ὑπάγῃ (He shall go). οὗτοι (These) ἠγοράσθησαν (have been redeemed) ἀπὸ (out from) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men) ἀπαρχὴ (as firstfruits) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb).

² Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ὡς (something like) θάλασσαν (a sea) ὑαλίνην (of glass) μεμιγμένην (mingled) πυρί (with fire), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) νικῶντας (conquering) ἐκ (over) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) εἰκόνος (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) ἐκ (over) τοῦ (the) ἀριθμοῦ (number) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it), ἑστῶτας (standing) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea) τὴν (of the) ὑαλίνην (glass), ἔχοντας (having) κιθάρας (harps) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ³ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), τοῦ (the) δούλου (servant) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), λέγοντες (saying): “Μεγάλα (Great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστὰ (wonderful are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) σου (of You), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty)! δίκαιαι (Righteous) καὶ (and) ἀληθιναὶ (true are) αἱ (the) ὁδοί (ways) σου (of You), ὁ (O) Βασιλεὺς (King) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations)!

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσα (I fell) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (A fellow servant) σού (with you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)! ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) μαρτυρία (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τῆς (-) προφητείας (of prophecy).”

⁴ ‹Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) θρόνους (thrones), καὶ (and) ἐκάθισαν (they sat) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) κρίμα (judgment) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτοῖς (to them), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) τῶν (of those) πεπελεκισμένων (having been beheaded) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) οἵτινες (those who) οὐ (not) προσεκύνησαν (did worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὐδὲ (nor) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβον (did take) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) ἔζησαν (they lived) καὶ (and) ἐβασίλευσαν (reigned) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (-) χριστοῦ (Christ) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη› (years).

¹⁴ “Δόξα (Glory) ἐν (in) ὑψίστοις (the highest) Θεῷ (to God), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) γῆς (earth) εἰρήνη (peace) ἐν (among) ἀνθρώποις (men) εὐδοκίας (with whom He is pleased)!”

¹⁰ οὕτως (Thus) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), γίνεται (there is) χαρὰ (joy) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (over) ἑνὶ (one) ἁμαρτωλῷ (sinner) μετανοοῦντι (repenting).”

³⁷ ἔτι (Yet) γὰρ (for), “Μικρὸν (A little) ὅσον (very) ὅσον (while), ὁ (the One) ἐρχόμενος (coming) ἥξει (will come), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) χρονίσει (will delay).

⁸ Ἓν (This one) δὲ (however) τοῦτο (thing) μὴ (not) λανθανέτω (let be hidden from) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ὅτι (that) μία (one) ἡμέρα (day) παρὰ (with the) Κυρίῳ (Lord is) ὡς (like) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years), καὶ (and) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years) ὡς (like) ἡμέρα (day) μία (one).

¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) ἑνὸς (one) ἀετοῦ (eagle) πετομένου (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), λέγοντος (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe) τοὺς (to those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ἐκ (because of) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (remaining) φωνῶν (voices) τῆς (of the) σάλπιγγος (trumpet) τῶν (of the) τριῶν (three) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) μελλόντων (being about) σαλπίζειν (to sound their trumpets)!”

¹² Ἡ (-) Οὐαὶ (Woe) ἡ (the) μία (first) ἀπῆλθεν (has passed). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχεται (are coming) ἔτι (still) δύο (two) Οὐαὶ (woes) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things).

⁶ καὶ (and) ὤμοσεν (he swore) ἐν (by) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), ὃς (who) ἔκτισεν (created) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea) καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ὅτι (-), “Χρόνος (Delay) οὐκέτι (no longer) ἔσται (will there be)!

¹⁰ καὶ (And) οἱ (those) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) χαίρουσιν (rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτοῖς (them) καὶ (and) εὐφραίνονται (make merry), καὶ (and) δῶρα (gifts) πέμψουσιν (will send) ἀλλήλοις (to one another), ὅτι (because) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (-) δύο (two) προφῆται (prophets) ἐβασάνισαν (have tormented) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

¹⁴ Ἡ (The) Οὐαὶ (woe) ἡ (-) δευτέρα (second) ἀπῆλθεν (has passed). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἡ (the) Οὐαὶ (woe) ἡ (-) τρίτη (third) ἔρχεται (is coming) ταχύ (quickly).

²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).”

³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) οὐρὰ (tail) αὐτοῦ (of him) σύρει (drags) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (he cast) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἕστηκεν (stands) ἐνώπιον (before) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (woman) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) τεκεῖν (to bring forth), ἵνα (so that) ὅταν (when) τέκῃ (she should bring forth), τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) καταφάγῃ (he might devour). ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔτεκεν (she brought forth) υἱόν (a son) ἄρσεν (male), ὃς (who) μέλλει (is about) ποιμαίνειν (to rule) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron); καὶ (and) ἡρπάσθη (was caught up) τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἔφυγεν (fled) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), ὅπου (where) ἔχει (she has) ἐκεῖ (there) τόπον (a place) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) ἀπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἵνα (so that) ἐκεῖ (there) τρέφωσιν (they should nourish) αὐτὴν (her) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (one thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty).

³ Καὶ (And) ἀπήνεγκέν (he carried away) με (me) εἰς (into) ἔρημον (a wilderness) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) γυναῖκα (a woman) καθημένην (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) θηρίον (a beast) κόκκινον (scarlet), γέμοντα (being full) ὀνόματα (of names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Τὰ (The) ὕδατα (waters) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), οὗ (where) ἡ (the) πόρνη (prostitute) κάθηται (sits), λαοὶ (peoples) καὶ (and) ὄχλοι (multitudes) εἰσὶν (are), καὶ (and) ἔθνη (nations) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαι (tongues).

²⁰ διδάσκοντες (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) τηρεῖν (to observe) πάντα (all things), ὅσα (whatever) ἐνετειλάμην (I commanded) ὑμῖν (you). καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰμι (am) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) ἡμέρας (days), ἕως (until) τῆς (the) συντελείας (completion) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age).”

¹ Κἀγὼ (And I), ἐλθὼν (having come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἦλθον (came) οὐ (not) καθ’ (according to) ὑπεροχὴν (excellency) λόγου (of speech), ἢ (or) σοφίας (wisdom), καταγγέλλων (proclaiming) ὑμῖν (to you) τὸ (the) μαρτύριον (testimony) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

³ Καὶ (And) ἐν (by) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἐγνώκαμεν (we have come to know) αὐτόν (Him), ἐὰν (if) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τηρῶμεν (we should keep).

² ἐν (By) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἀγαπῶμεν (we love) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὅταν (when) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἀγαπῶμεν (we love) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ποιῶμεν (keep).

¹⁰ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἐν (in) αὑτῷ (himself). ὁ (The one) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ψεύστην (a liar) πεποίηκεν (has made) αὐτόν (Him), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἣν (that) μεμαρτύρηκεν (has testified) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (Him).

¹¹ καὶ (And) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐνίκησαν (have overcome) αὐτὸν (him) διὰ (by reason) τὸ (of the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) διὰ (by reason of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) μαρτυρίας (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠγάπησαν (they have loved) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτῶν (of them) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death). ¹² διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), εὐφραίνεσθε (rejoice) ‹οἱ› (O) οὐρανοὶ (heavens), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) σκηνοῦντες (dwelling)! οὐαὶ (Woe to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), ὅτι (because) κατέβη (has come down) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἔχων (having) θυμὸν (fury) μέγαν (great), εἰδὼς (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὀλίγον (a short) καιρὸν (time) ἔχει (he has).”

¹² Ὧδε (Here) ἡ (the) ὑπομονὴ (endurance) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἐστίν (is), οἱ (those) τηροῦντες (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus).

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) μεθύουσαν (being drunk) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) μαρτύρων (witnesses) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐθαύμασα (I marveled), ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὴν (her), θαῦμα (with wonder) μέγα (great).

¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).”

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁸ καὶ (and) ἐξελεύσεται (will go out) πλανῆσαι (to deceive) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) τέσσαρσιν (four) γωνίαις (corners) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), τὸν (-) Γὼγ (Gog) καὶ (and) Μαγώγ (Magog), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (war), ὧν (of whom) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number is) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (like) ἡ (the) ἄμμος (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea). ⁹ Καὶ (And) ἀνέβησαν (they marched up) ἐπὶ (over) τὸ (the) πλάτος (breadth) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) καὶ (and) ἐκύκλευσαν (encircled) τὴν (the) παρεμβολὴν (camp) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἠγαπημένην (having been beloved). καὶ (But) κατέβη (came down) πῦρ (fire) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καὶ (and) κατέφαγεν (devoured) αὐτούς (them).

¹⁴ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πλύνοντες (washing) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) ἔσται (will be) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) τοῖς (by the) πυλῶσιν (gates) εἰσέλθωσιν (they shall enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city).
