⁶ σὺ (You) δὲ (however), ὅταν (when) προσεύχῃ (you pray), εἴσελθε (enter) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ταμεῖόν (room) σου (of you), καὶ (and) κλείσας (having shut) τὴν (the) θύραν (door) σου (of you), πρόσευξαι (pray) τῷ (to) Πατρί (Father) σου (of you), τῷ (the One) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).

⁴ ὅπως (so that) ᾖ (may be) σου (your) ἡ (-) ἐλεημοσύνη (giving) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).

¹⁸ ὅπως (so that) μὴ (not) φανῇς (you might appear) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) νηστεύων (as fasting), ἀλλὰ (but) τῷ (-) Πατρί (to Father) σου (your) τῷ (the One) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυφαίῳ (secret); καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυφαίῳ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).

²³ καὶ (And) ἀπολύσας (having dismissed) τοὺς (the) ὄχλους (crowds), ἀνέβη (He went up) εἰς (on) τὸ (the) ὄρος (mountain) κατ’ (by) ἰδίαν (Himself) προσεύξασθαι (to pray). ὀψίας (Evening) δὲ (now) γενομένης (having arrived), μόνος (alone) ἦν (He was) ἐκεῖ (there).

³⁶ Τότε (Then) ἔρχεται (comes) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἰς (to) χωρίον (a place) λεγόμενον (called) Γεθσημανὶ (Gethsemane), καὶ (and) λέγει (He says) τοῖς (to the) μαθηταῖς (disciples), “Καθίσατε (Sit) αὐτοῦ (here), ἕως (until) οὗ (that) ἀπελθὼν (having gone away) ἐκεῖ (over there), προσεύξωμαι (I shall pray).” ³⁷ Καὶ (And) παραλαβὼν (having taken with Him) τὸν (-) Πέτρον (Peter) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δύο (two) υἱοὺς (sons) Ζεβεδαίου (of Zebedee), ἤρξατο (He began) λυπεῖσθαι (to be sorrowful) καὶ (and) ἀδημονεῖν (deeply distressed). ³⁸ τότε (Then) λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Περίλυπός (Very sorrowful) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ψυχή (soul) μου (of Me), ἕως (even to) θανάτου (death); μείνατε (remain) ὧδε (here) καὶ (and) γρηγορεῖτε (watch) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me).” ³⁹ Καὶ (And) προελθὼν (having gone forward) μικρὸν (a little), ἔπεσεν (He fell) ἐπὶ (upon) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of Him), προσευχόμενος (praying), καὶ (and) λέγων (saying), “Πάτερ (Father) μου (of Me), εἰ (if) δυνατόν (possible) ἐστιν (it is), παρελθάτω (let pass) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦτο (this). πλὴν (Nevertheless) οὐχ (not) ὡς (as) ἐγὼ (I) θέλω (will), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) σύ (You).”

⁴⁸ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Πόθεν (From where) με (me) γινώσκεις (know You)?” Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Πρὸ (Before) τοῦ (-) σε (you) Φίλιππον (Philip) φωνῆσαι (calling), ὄντα (being) ὑπὸ (under) τὴν (the) συκῆν (fig tree), εἶδόν (I saw) σε (you).”

¹⁷ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῇ (to her) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Μή (Not) μου (Me) ἅπτου (touch), οὔπω (not yet) γὰρ (for) ἀναβέβηκα (have I ascended) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father); πορεύου (go) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφούς (brothers) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) εἰπὲ (say) αὐτοῖς (to them), ‘Ἀναβαίνω (I am ascending) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) Πατέρα (Father) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and to) Θεόν (God) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) Θεὸν (God) ὑμῶν (of you).’”

⁴⁰ Ἐκβαλὼν (Having put) δὲ (then) ἔξω (outside) πάντας (all) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter), καὶ (and) θεὶς (having bowed) τὰ (the) γόνατα (knees), προσηύξατο (he prayed). καὶ (And) ἐπιστρέψας (having turned) πρὸς (to) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) εἶπεν (he said), “Ταβιθά (Tabitha), ἀνάστηθι (arise)!” ἡ (-) δὲ (And) ἤνοιξεν (she opened) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἰδοῦσα (having seen) τὸν (-) Πέτρον (Peter), ἀνεκάθισεν (she sat up).

⁹ Τῇ (On the) δὲ (now) ἐπαύριον (next day), ὁδοιπορούντων (as are journeying) ἐκείνων (these) καὶ (and) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) ἐγγιζόντων (approaching), ἀνέβη (went up) Πέτρος (Peter) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) δῶμα (housetop) προσεύξασθαι (to pray), περὶ (about) ὥραν (hour) ἕκτην (the sixth).

³⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) Κορνήλιος (Cornelius) ἔφη (was saying), “Ἀπὸ (Ago) τετάρτης (four) ἡμέρας (days), μέχρι (until) ταύτης (this) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour), ἤμην (I was) τὴν (at the) ἐνάτην (ninth hour) προσευχόμενος (praying) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) οἴκῳ (house) μου (of me); καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἀνὴρ (a man) ἔστη (stood) ἐνώπιόν (before) μου (me) ἐν (in) ἐσθῆτι (apparel) λαμπρᾷ (bright),

⁵ Οἱ (Those) γὰρ (for) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) ὄντες (being), τὰ (the things) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) φρονοῦσιν (mind); οἱ (those) δὲ (however) κατὰ (according to) πνεῦμα (Spirit), τὰ (the things) τοῦ (of the) πνεύματος (Spirit).
