⁴ γενεὰ (A generation) πονηρὰ (evil) καὶ (and) μοιχαλὶς (adulterous), σημεῖον (a sign) ἐπιζητεῖ (seeks), καὶ (and) σημεῖον (a sign) οὐ (not) δοθήσεται (will be given) αὐτῇ (to it), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) τὸ (the) σημεῖον (sign) Ἰωνᾶ (of Jonah).” καὶ (And) καταλιπὼν (having left) αὐτοὺς (them), ἀπῆλθεν (He went away).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἀνεχώρησεν (withdrew) πρὸς (to) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), καὶ (and) πολὺ (great) πλῆθος (a multitude) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee) ἠκολούθησεν (followed), καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Ἰουδαίας (Judea),

¹ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἐγγίζουσιν (they drew near) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), εἰς (to) Βηθφαγὴ (Bethphage) καὶ (and) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), πρὸς (near) τὸ (the) ὄρος (Mount) τῶν (-) Ἐλαιῶν (of Olives), ἀποστέλλει (He sends) δύο (two) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him)

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) εἰς (into) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ἱερόν (temple), καὶ (and) περιβλεψάμενος (having looked around on) πάντα (all things), ὀψὲ (late) ἤδη (already) οὔσης (being) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour), ἐξῆλθεν (He went out) εἰς (to) Βηθανίαν (Bethany) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) δώδεκα (Twelve).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) ὀψὲ (evening) ἐγένετο (came), ἐξεπορεύοντο (they were going forth) ἔξω (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city).

³⁷ Καὶ (And) ἠρώτησεν (asked) αὐτὸν (Him) ἅπαν (all) τὸ (the) πλῆθος (multitude) τῆς (of the) περιχώρου (surrounding region) τῶν (of the) Γερασηνῶν (Gerasenes) ἀπελθεῖν (to depart) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them), ὅτι (because) φόβῳ (with fear) μεγάλῳ (great) συνείχοντο (they were seized). αὐτὸς (He) δὲ (now), ἐμβὰς (having entered) εἰς (into) πλοῖον (the boat), ὑπέστρεψεν (turned back). ³⁸ Ἐδεῖτο (Was begging) δὲ (however) αὐτοῦ (Him) ὁ (the) ἀνὴρ (man) ἀφ’ (from) οὗ (whom) ἐξεληλύθει (had gone) τὰ (the) δαιμόνια (demons) εἶναι (to be taken) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him). ἀπέλυσεν (He sent away) δὲ (however) αὐτὸν (him) λέγων (saying),

³⁸ Ἐν (In) δὲ (now) τῷ (the) πορεύεσθαι (proceeding) αὐτοὺς (of them), αὐτὸς (He) εἰσῆλθεν (entered) εἰς (into) κώμην (a village) τινά (certain); γυνὴ (a woman) δέ (now) τις (certain) ὀνόματι (named) Μάρθα (Martha) ὑπεδέξατο (received) αὐτὸν (Him) 〈εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν〉 (home).

²⁹ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ὡς (as) ἤγγισεν (He drew near) εἰς (to) Βηθφαγὴ (Bethphage) καὶ (and) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), πρὸς (toward) τὸ (the) ὄρος (mount) τὸ (-) καλούμενον (called) Ἐλαιῶν (Olivet), ἀπέστειλεν (He sent) δύο (two) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples),

⁵⁰ Ἐξήγαγεν (He led) δὲ (now) αὐτοὺς (them) [ἔξω] (out) ἕως (as far as) πρὸς (to) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), καὶ (and) ἐπάρας (having lifted up) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) αὐτοῦ (of Him), εὐλόγησεν (He blessed) αὐτούς (them).

¹ Ἦν (Was) δέ (now) τις (a certain man) ἀσθενῶν (ailing), Λάζαρος (Lazarus) ἀπὸ (of) Βηθανίας (Bethany), ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) κώμης (village) Μαρίας (of Mary) καὶ (and) Μάρθας (Martha), τῆς (the) ἀδελφῆς (sister) αὐτῆς (of her).

¹⁸ ἦν (Was) δὲ (now) ‹ἡ› (-) Βηθανία (Bethany) ἐγγὺς (near) τῶν (-) Ἱεροσολύμων (Jerusalem), ὡς (about) ἀπὸ (away) σταδίων (stadia) δεκαπέντε (fifteen).

¹ Ὁ (-) οὖν (Therefore) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), πρὸ (before) ἓξ (six) ἡμερῶν (days) τοῦ (the) πάσχα (Passover), ἦλθεν (came) εἰς (to) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), ὅπου (where) ἦν (was) Λάζαρος (Lazarus), ὃν (whom) ἤγειρεν (had raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus). ² ἐποίησαν (They made) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῷ (Him) δεῖπνον (a supper) ἐκεῖ (there), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) Μάρθα (Martha) διηκόνει (was serving), ὁ (-) δὲ (and) Λάζαρος (Lazarus) εἷς (one) ἦν (was) ἐκ (of) τῶν (those) ἀνακειμένων (reclining) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him). ³ ἡ (-) οὖν (Therefore) Μαριὰμ (Mary), λαβοῦσα (having taken) λίτραν (a litra) μύρου (of fragrant oil) νάρδου (of nard) πιστικῆς (pure) πολυτίμου (of great price), ἤλειψεν (anointed) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) καὶ (and) ἐξέμαξεν (wiped) ταῖς (with the) θριξὶν (hair) αὐτῆς (of her) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him); ἡ (the) δὲ (now) οἰκία (house) ἐπληρώθη (was filled) ἐκ (with) τῆς (the) ὀσμῆς (fragrance) τοῦ (of the) μύρου (oil).
