¹³ καὶ (And) ἔσεσθε (you will be) μισούμενοι (hated) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) διὰ (on account of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ὑπομείνας (having endured) εἰς (to) τέλος (the end), οὗτος (he) σωθήσεται (will be saved).

¹¹ Μακάριοί (Blessed) ἐστε (are you) ὅταν (when) ὀνειδίσωσιν (they shall insult) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) διώξωσιν (shall persecute you), καὶ (and) εἴπωσιν (shall say) πᾶν (all kinds of) πονηρὸν (evil) καθ’ (against) ὑμῶν (you), ψευδόμενοι (lying) ἕνεκεν (on account of) ἐμοῦ (Me). ¹² χαίρετε (Rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (exult), ὅτι (for) ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολὺς (is great) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens); οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) ἐδίωξαν (they persecuted) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets) τοὺς (-) πρὸ (before) ὑμῶν (you).

²² καὶ (And) ἔσεσθε (you will be) μισούμενοι (hated) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) διὰ (on account of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ὑπομείνας (having endured) εἰς (to) τέλος (the end), οὗτος (he) σωθήσεται (will be saved).

⁹ Τότε (Then) παραδώσουσιν (will they deliver) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (to) θλῖψιν (tribulation), καὶ (and) ἀποκτενοῦσιν (will kill) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ἔσεσθε (you will be) μισούμενοι (hated) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (nations) διὰ (on account of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me).

¹³ ὁ (The one) δὲ (however) ὑπομείνας (having endured) εἰς (to the) τέλος (end), οὗτος (he) σωθήσεται (will be saved).

²² Μακάριοί (Blessed) ἐστε (are you) ὅταν (when) μισήσωσιν (shall hate) ὑμᾶς (you) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men), καὶ (and) ὅταν (when) ἀφορίσωσιν (they shall exclude) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ὀνειδίσωσιν (shall insult you), καὶ (and) ἐκβάλωσιν (shall cast out) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) ὑμῶν (of you) ὡς (as) πονηρὸν (evil), ἕνεκα (on account of) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man).

¹⁷ καὶ (And) ἔσεσθε (you will be) μισούμενοι (hated) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) διὰ (because of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me).

¹⁸ Εἰ (If) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ὑμᾶς (you) μισεῖ (hates), γινώσκετε (you know) ὅτι (that) ἐμὲ (Me) πρῶτον (before) ὑμῶν (you) μεμίσηκεν (it has hated). ¹⁹ εἰ (If) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) ἦτε (you were), ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ἂν (-) τὸ (as its) ἴδιον (own) ἐφίλει (would love you); ὅτι (because) δὲ (however) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) οὐκ (not) ἐστέ (you are), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐγὼ (I) ἐξελεξάμην (chose) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world), διὰ (on account of) τοῦτο (this) μισεῖ (hates) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world).

²¹ ἀλλὰ (But) ταῦτα (these things) πάντα (all) ποιήσουσιν (they will do) εἰς (against) ὑμᾶς (you) διὰ (on account of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) οἴδασιν (they have known) τὸν (the One) πέμψαντά (having sent) με (Me).

¹⁴ ἐγὼ (I) δέδωκα (have given) αὐτοῖς (them) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) σου (of You), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ἐμίσησεν (hated) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (they are) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world), καθὼς (even as) ἐγὼ (I) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world).

⁷ τοῖς (to those who) μὲν (indeed) καθ’ (with) ὑπομονὴν (endurance) ἔργου (in work) ἀγαθοῦ (good), δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) ἀφθαρσίαν (immortality) ζητοῦσιν (are seeking), ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal);

⁹ Τὸ (-) δὲ (And) καλὸν (in well) ποιοῦντες (doing), μὴ (not) ἐνκακῶμεν (we should grow weary); καιρῷ (in time) γὰρ (for) ἰδίῳ (due), θερίσομεν (we will reap a harvest) μὴ (not) ἐκλυόμενοι (giving up).

¹⁴ Μέτοχοι (Partakers) γὰρ (for) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) γεγόναμεν (we have become), ἐάνπερ (if indeed) τὴν (from the) ἀρχὴν (beginning) τῆς (the) ὑποστάσεως (assurance) μέχρι (unto) τέλους (the end) βεβαίαν (firm) κατάσχωμεν (we should hold).

³⁹ Ἡμεῖς (We) δὲ (however) οὐκ (not) ἐσμὲν (are) ὑποστολῆς (of those drawing back) εἰς (to) ἀπώλειαν (destruction), ἀλλὰ (but) πίστεως (of faith) εἰς (to) περιποίησιν (the preserving) ψυχῆς (of the soul).

¹² Μακάριος (Blessed is the) ἀνὴρ (man) ὃς (who) ὑπομένει (endures) πειρασμόν (trial), ὅτι (because) δόκιμος (approved) γενόμενος (having been), λήμψεται (he will receive) τὸν (the) στέφανον (crown) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ὃν (that) ἐπηγγείλατο (He has promised) τοῖς (to those) ἀγαπῶσιν (loving) αὐτόν (Him).

¹³ [καὶ] (And) Μὴ (not) θαυμάζετε (be surprised), ἀδελφοί (brothers), εἰ (if) μισεῖ (hates) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world).

¹⁰ Μηδὲν* (Not) φοβοῦ (fear) ἃ (what) μέλλεις (you are about) πάσχειν (to suffer). ἰδοὺ (Behold), μέλλει (is about) βάλλειν (to cast) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἐξ (some of) ὑμῶν (you) εἰς (into) φυλακὴν (prison), ἵνα (so that) πειρασθῆτε (you might be tested); καὶ (and) ἕξετε (you shall have) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἡμερῶν (days) δέκα (ten). γίνου (Be) πιστὸς (faithful) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death), καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) σοι (to you) τὸν (the) στέφανον (crown) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life).

¹⁰ Ὅτι (Because) ἐτήρησας (you have kept) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) ὑπομονῆς (patient endurance) μου (of Me), κἀγώ (I also) σε (you) τηρήσω (will keep) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour) τοῦ (of the) πειρασμοῦ (trial) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), πειράσαι (to try) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).
