¹¹ καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) ἄγωσιν (they might lead away) ὑμᾶς (you), παραδιδόντες (delivering you up), μὴ (not) προμεριμνᾶτε (be anxious beforehand) τί (what) λαλήσητε (you should say), ἀλλ’ (but) ὃ (whatever) ἐὰν (if) δοθῇ (might be given) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour), τοῦτο (that) λαλεῖτε (speak); οὐ (not) γάρ (for) ἐστε (are) ὑμεῖς (you) οἱ (those) λαλοῦντες (speaking), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy).

¹⁷ Προσέχετε (Beware) δὲ (however) ἀπὸ (of) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men); παραδώσουσιν (they will deliver) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) συνέδρια (courts), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), μαστιγώσουσιν (they will flog) ὑμᾶς (you);

¹⁹ ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) παραδῶσιν (they deliver up) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) μεριμνήσητε (be anxious) πῶς (how) ἢ (or) τί (what) λαλήσητε (you should speak); δοθήσεται (it will be given) γὰρ (for) ὑμῖν (you) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour) τί (what) λαλήσητε (you should say). ²⁰ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐστε (are) οἱ (those) λαλοῦντες (speaking), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τὸ (-) λαλοῦν (speaking) ἐν (through) ὑμῖν (you). ²¹ Παραδώσει (Will deliver up) δὲ (now) ἀδελφὸς (brother), ἀδελφὸν (brother) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death); καὶ (and) πατὴρ (father), τέκνον (child). καὶ (And) ἐπαναστήσονται (will rise up) τέκνα (children) ἐπὶ (against) γονεῖς (parents), καὶ (and) θανατώσουσιν (will put to death) αὐτούς (them).

⁹ Βλέπετε (Take heed) δὲ (however) ὑμεῖς (you) ἑαυτούς (to yourselves); παραδώσουσιν (they will betray) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (to) συνέδρια (courts) καὶ (and) εἰς (in) συναγωγὰς (synagogues); δαρήσεσθε (you will be beaten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (before) ἡγεμόνων (governors) καὶ (and) βασιλέων (kings) σταθήσεσθε (you will stand) ἕνεκεν (because) ἐμοῦ (of Me), εἰς (for) μαρτύριον (a testimony) αὐτοῖς (to them).

¹¹ Ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) εἰσφέρωσιν (they bring) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐπὶ (before) τὰς (the) συναγωγὰς (synagogues), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἀρχὰς (rulers), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐξουσίας (authorities), μὴ (not) μεριμνήσητε (be anxious) πῶς (how) ἢ (or) τί (what) ἀπολογήσησθε (you shall reply in defense), ἢ (or) τί (what) εἴπητε (you should say); ¹² τὸ (the) γὰρ (for) Ἅγιον (Holy) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) διδάξει (will teach) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (same) τῇ (the) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἃ (what) δεῖ (it behooves you) εἰπεῖν (to say).”

¹⁴ θέτε (Settle) οὖν (therefore) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (minds) ὑμῶν (of you) μὴ (not) προμελετᾶν (to premeditate) ἀπολογηθῆναι (to make a defense); ¹⁵ ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) δώσω (will give) ὑμῖν (you) στόμα (a mouth) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom), ᾗ (which) οὐ (not) δυνήσονται (will be able) ἀντιστῆναι (to resist) ἢ (nor) ἀντειπεῖν (to reply to) ἅπαντες (all) οἱ (those) ἀντικείμενοι (opposing) ὑμῖν (you).

²⁷ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰωάννης (John) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Οὐ (Nothing) δύναται (is able) ἄνθρωπος (a man) λαμβάνειν (to receive), ‹οὐδὲ (nothing) ἓν› (one) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it is) δεδομένον (given) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).

⁴ καὶ (And) ἐπλήσθησαν (they were filled with) πάντες (all) Πνεύματος (Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), καὶ (and) ἤρξαντο (began) λαλεῖν (to speak) ἑτέραις (in other) γλώσσαις (tongues) καθὼς (as) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐδίδου (was giving) ἀποφθέγγεσθαι (to utter forth) αὐτοῖς (to them).

¹³ Ὁ (The) Θεὸς (God) Ἀβραὰμ (of Abraham), καὶ (and) [ὁ (the) θεὸς] (God) Ἰσαὰκ (of Isaac), καὶ (and) [ὁ (the) θεὸς] (God) Ἰακώβ (Jacob), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πατέρων (fathers) ἡμῶν (of us), ἐδόξασεν (has glorified) τὸν (the) Παῖδα (servant) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) μὲν (indeed) παρεδώκατε (betrayed) καὶ (and) ἠρνήσασθε (disowned) κατὰ (in) πρόσωπον (the presence) Πιλάτου (of Pilate), κρίναντος (having adjudged) ἐκείνου (that one) ἀπολύειν (to release Him).

⁸ Τότε (Then) Πέτρος (Peter), πλησθεὶς (having been filled) Πνεύματος (with the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Ἄρχοντες (Rulers) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) πρεσβύτεροι (elders), ⁹ εἰ (if) ἡμεῖς (we) σήμερον (this day) ἀνακρινόμεθα (are being examined) ἐπὶ (as to) εὐεργεσίᾳ (a good work) ἀνθρώπου (to the man) ἀσθενοῦς (ailing), ἐν (by) τίνι (what means) οὗτος (he) σέσωσται (has been healed), ¹⁰ γνωστὸν (known) ἔστω (let it be) πᾶσιν (to all) ὑμῖν (you) καὶ (and) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) τοῦ (of) Ναζωραίου (Nazareth), ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐσταυρώσατε (crucified), ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἤγειρεν (raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ἐν (in) τούτῳ (Him) οὗτος (this man) παρέστηκεν (stands) ἐνώπιον (before) ὑμῶν (you) ὑγιής (sound). ¹¹ οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ‘Ὁ (the) λίθος (stone) ὁ (-) ἐξουθενηθεὶς (having been rejected) ὑφ’ (by) ὑμῶν (you), τῶν (the) οἰκοδόμων (builders), ὁ (which) γενόμενος (has become) εἰς (into) κεφαλὴν (head) γωνίας (of the corner).’ ¹² Καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (there is) ἐν (in) ἄλλῳ (other) οὐδενὶ (no one) ἡ (the) σωτηρία (salvation), οὐδὲ (not) γὰρ (for) ὄνομά (name) ἐστιν (is there) ἕτερον (another) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) τὸ (-) δεδομένον (having been given) ἐν (among) ἀνθρώποις (men) ἐν (by) ᾧ (which) δεῖ (it behooves) σωθῆναι (to be saved) ἡμᾶς (us).” ¹³ Θεωροῦντες (Seeing) δὲ (now) τὴν (the) τοῦ (-) Πέτρου (of Peter) παρρησίαν (boldness), καὶ (and) Ἰωάννου (of John), καὶ (and) καταλαβόμενοι (having understood) ὅτι (that) ἄνθρωποι (men) ἀγράμματοί (unschooled) εἰσιν (they are), καὶ (and) ἰδιῶται (ordinary), ἐθαύμαζον (they were astonished). ἐπεγίνωσκόν (They recognized) τε (then) αὐτοὺς (them), ὅτι (that) σὺν (with) τῷ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἦσαν (they had been). ¹⁴ τόν (-) τε (And) ἄνθρωπον (the man) βλέποντες (beholding) σὺν (with) αὐτοῖς (them) ἑστῶτα (standing) τὸν (-) τεθεραπευμένον (having been healed), οὐδὲν (nothing) εἶχον (they had) ἀντειπεῖν (to contradict). ¹⁵ κελεύσαντες (Having commanded) δὲ (however) αὐτοὺς (them) ἔξω (outside) τοῦ (the) συνεδρίου (Council) ἀπελθεῖν (to go), συνέβαλλον (they began to confer) πρὸς (with) ἀλλήλους (one another), ¹⁶ λέγοντες (saying), “Τί (What) ποιήσωμεν (shall we do) τοῖς (to the) ἀνθρώποις (men) τούτοις (these)? ὅτι (That) μὲν (truly) γὰρ (for) γνωστὸν (a noteworthy) σημεῖον (sign) γέγονεν (has come to pass) δι’ (through) αὐτῶν (them), πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (those) κατοικοῦσιν (inhabiting) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) φανερόν (is evident), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) δυνάμεθα (we are able) ἀρνεῖσθαι (to deny it). ¹⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ἐπὶ (on) πλεῖον (further) διανεμηθῇ (it might spread) εἰς (among) τὸν (the) λαόν (people), ἀπειλησώμεθα (let us warn) αὐτοῖς (them) μηκέτι (no longer) λαλεῖν (to speak) ἐπὶ (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) τούτῳ (this) μηδενὶ (to no) ἀνθρώπων (man).” ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) καλέσαντες (having called) αὐτοὺς (them), παρήγγειλαν (they commanded them) ‹τὸ› (-) καθόλου (at all) μὴ (not) φθέγγεσθαι (to speak) μηδὲ (nor) διδάσκειν (to teach) ἐπὶ (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). ¹⁹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Πέτρος (Peter) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννης (John) ἀποκριθέντες (answering), εἶπον (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Εἰ (Whether) δίκαιόν (right) ἐστιν (it is) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ὑμῶν (to you) ἀκούειν (to listen), μᾶλλον (rather) ἢ (than) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), κρίνατε (you must judge); ²⁰ οὐ (not) δυνάμεθα (are able) γὰρ (for) ἡμεῖς (we), ἃ (what) εἴδαμεν (we have seen) καὶ (and) ἠκούσαμεν (heard), μὴ (not) λαλεῖν (to speak).” ²¹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) προσαπειλησάμενοι (having further threatened them), ἀπέλυσαν (they let go) αὐτούς (them), μηδὲν (nothing) εὑρίσκοντες (finding) τὸ (the) πῶς (how) κολάσωνται (they might punish) αὐτούς (them), διὰ (on account of) τὸν (the) λαόν (people), ὅτι (because) πάντες (all) ἐδόξαζον (were glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπὶ (for) τῷ (that) γεγονότι (having happened); ²² ἐτῶν (years old) γὰρ (for) ἦν (was) πλειόνων (more than) τεσσεράκοντα (forty), ὁ (the) ἄνθρωπος (man) ἐφ’ (on) ὃν (whom) γεγόνει (had taken place) τὸ (the) σημεῖον (sign) τοῦτο (this) τῆς (of) ἰάσεως (healing).

³¹ Καὶ (And) δεηθέντων (having prayed) αὐτῶν (they), ἐσαλεύθη (was shaken) ὁ (the) τόπος (place) ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) ἦσαν (they were) συνηγμένοι (assembled), καὶ (and) ἐπλήσθησαν (they were filled with) ἅπαντες (all) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) καὶ (and) ἐλάλουν (were speaking) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μετὰ (with) παρρησίας (boldness).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἴσχυον (they were able) ἀντιστῆναι (to withstand) τῇ (the) σοφίᾳ (wisdom) καὶ (and) τῷ (the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) ᾧ (by whom) ἐλάλει (he was speaking).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ἀτενίσαντες (having looked intently) εἰς (on) αὐτὸν (him), πάντες (all) οἱ (-) καθεζόμενοι (sitting) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) συνεδρίῳ (Council) εἶδον (saw) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡσεὶ (as) πρόσωπον (the face) ἀγγέλου (of an angel).

⁵⁵ ὑπάρχων (He being) δὲ (however) πλήρης (full) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ἀτενίσας (having looked intently) εἰς (into) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), εἶδεν (saw) δόξαν (the glory) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God),

¹³ ἃ (which) καὶ (also) λαλοῦμεν (we speak), οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) διδακτοῖς (taught) ἀνθρωπίνης (of human) σοφίας (wisdom) λόγοις (words), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in those) διδακτοῖς (taught) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit), πνευματικοῖς (by spiritual means) πνευματικὰ (spiritual things) συνκρίνοντες (communicating).

⁵ ὃ (which) ἑτέραις (in other) γενεαῖς (generations) οὐκ (not) ἐγνωρίσθη (was made known) τοῖς (to the) υἱοῖς (sons) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men), ὡς (as) νῦν (now) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it has been revealed) τοῖς (to) ἁγίοις (holy) ἀποστόλοις (apostles) αὐτοῦ (His) καὶ (and) προφήταις (prophets) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit),

¹⁹ καὶ (and also) ὑπὲρ (for) ἐμοῦ (me), ἵνα (that) μοι (to me) δοθῇ (may be given) λόγος (divine utterance) ἐν (in) ἀνοίξει (the opening) τοῦ (of the) στόματός (mouth) μου (of me), ἐν (with) παρρησίᾳ (boldness) γνωρίσαι (to make known) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel), ²⁰ ὑπὲρ (for) οὗ (which) πρεσβεύω (I am an ambassador) ἐν (in) ἁλύσει (a chain), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it) παρρησιάσωμαι (I may be bold), ὡς (as) δεῖ (it behooves) με (me) λαλῆσαι (to speak).

⁵ Εἰ (If) δέ (now) τις (any) ὑμῶν (of you) λείπεται (lacks) σοφίας (wisdom), αἰτείτω (let him ask) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the One) διδόντος (giving), Θεοῦ (God), πᾶσιν (to all) ἁπλῶς (generously), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὀνειδίζοντος (finding fault), καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) αὐτῷ (to him).

¹² οἷς (to whom) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it was revealed) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτοῖς (themselves), ὑμῖν (you) δὲ (however), διηκόνουν (they were serving) αὐτά (in those things) ἃ (which) νῦν (now) ἀνηγγέλη (have been proclaimed) ὑμῖν (to you) διὰ (by) τῶν (those) εὐαγγελισαμένων (having proclaimed the gospel to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (by) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) ἀποσταλέντι (having been sent) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), εἰς (into) ἃ (which) ἐπιθυμοῦσιν (desire) ἄγγελοι (angels) παρακύψαι (to look).
