⁵ Καὶ (And) ὡς (as) ἦλθεν (He came) ἐπὶ (to) τὸν (the) τόπον (place), ἀναβλέψας (having looked up), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (him), “Ζακχαῖε (Zacchaeus), σπεύσας (having hurried) κατάβηθι (come down); σήμερον (today) γὰρ (for) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) οἴκῳ (house) σου (of you) δεῖ (it behooves) με (Me) μεῖναι (to stay).”

¹⁰ ἦλθεν (Came) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ζητῆσαι (to seek) καὶ (and) σῶσαι (to save) τὸ (that) ἀπολωλός (having been lost).”

⁴⁸ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Πόθεν (From where) με (me) γινώσκεις (know You)?” Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Πρὸ (Before) τοῦ (-) σε (you) Φίλιππον (Philip) φωνῆσαι (calling), ὄντα (being) ὑπὸ (under) τὴν (the) συκῆν (fig tree), εἶδόν (I saw) σε (you).”

⁷ Ἔρχεται (Comes) γυνὴ (a woman) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (-) Σαμαρείας (Samaria) ἀντλῆσαι (to draw) ὕδωρ (water). λέγει (Says) αὐτῇ (to her) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Δός (Give) μοι (Me) πεῖν (to drink).” ⁸ οἱ (-) γὰρ (For) μαθηταὶ (the disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἀπεληλύθεισαν (had gone away) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), ἵνα (that) τροφὰς (food) ἀγοράσωσιν (they might buy). ⁹ Λέγει (Says) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῷ (to Him) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἡ (-) Σαμαρῖτις (Samaritan), “Πῶς (How) σὺ (You) Ἰουδαῖος (a Jew) ὢν (being), παρ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me) πεῖν (to drink) αἰτεῖς (do ask), γυναικὸς (a woman) Σαμαρίτιδος (Samaritan) οὔσης (being)?” οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) συνχρῶνται (have association) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) Σαμαρίταις (with Samaritans). ¹⁰ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Εἰ (If) ᾔδεις (you had known) τὴν (the) δωρεὰν (gift) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τίς (who) ἐστιν (it is) ὁ (-) λέγων (saying) σοι (to you), ‘Δός (Give) μοι (Me) πεῖν (to drink),’ σὺ (you) ἂν (-) ᾔτησας (would have asked) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) ἔδωκεν (He would have given) ἄν (-) σοι (to you) ὕδωρ (water) ζῶν (living).”

²³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀγαπᾷ (loves) με (Me), τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) τηρήσει (he will keep), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me) ἀγαπήσει (will love) αὐτόν (him), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ἐλευσόμεθα (we will come), καὶ (and) μονὴν (a home) παρ’ (with) αὐτῷ (him) ποιησόμεθα (will make).

¹ Συνεργοῦντες (Working together) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) παρακαλοῦμεν (we exhort) μὴ (not) εἰς (in) κενὸν (vain) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) δέξασθαι (to receive) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹⁷ κατοικῆσαι (for to dwell) τὸν (-) Χριστὸν (Christ) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), ἐν (in) ἀγάπῃ (love) ἐρριζωμένοι (being rooted) καὶ (and) τεθεμελιωμένοι (being founded),

² τῆς (-) φιλοξενίας (Of hospitality) μὴ (not) ἐπιλανθάνεσθε (be forgetful); διὰ (through) ταύτης (this) γὰρ (for), ἔλαθόν (unawares) τινες (some) ξενίσαντες (have entertained) ἀγγέλους (angels).

²⁰ Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἕστηκα (I stand) ἐπὶ (at) τὴν (the) θύραν (door) καὶ (and) κρούω (knock). ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀκούσῃ (should hear) τῆς (the) φωνῆς (voice) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) ἀνοίξῃ (open) τὴν (the) θύραν (door), ‹καὶ› (then) εἰσελεύσομαι (I will come in) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him), καὶ (and) δειπνήσω (will dine) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me).
