³⁵ Εἶπεν (Said) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life); ὁ (the one) ἐρχόμενος (coming) πρὸς (to) ἐμὲ (Me) οὐ (never) μὴ (not) πεινάσῃ (shall hunger), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) διψήσει (shall thirst) πώποτε (at any time).

²⁸ Δεῦτε (Come) πρός (to) με (Me), πάντες (all) οἱ (those) κοπιῶντες (toiling) καὶ (and) πεφορτισμένοι (being burdened), κἀγὼ (and I) ἀναπαύσω (will give rest) ὑμᾶς (to you).

²⁵ Οὐαὶ (Woe) ὑμῖν (to you) οἱ (who) ἐμπεπλησμένοι (having been filled) νῦν (now), Ὅτι (for) πεινάσετε (you will hunger). Οὐαί (Woe to) οἱ (those) γελῶντες (laughing) νῦν (now), Ὅτι (for) πενθήσετε (you will mourn) καὶ (and) κλαύσετε (will weep).

¹³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) πίνων (drinking) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ὕδατος (water) τούτου (this) διψήσει (will thirst) πάλιν (again); ¹⁴ ὃς (whoever) δ’ (however) ἂν (-) πίῃ (may drink) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ὕδατος (water) οὗ (that) ἐγὼ (I) δώσω (will give) αὐτῷ (him), οὐ (never) μὴ (not) διψήσει (will thirst), εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age). ἀλλὰ (Instead), τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) ὃ (that) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) γενήσεται (will become) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) πηγὴ (a spring) ὕδατος (of water), ἁλλομένου (welling up) εἰς (into) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).”

⁴⁰ καὶ (and) οὐ (not) θέλετε (you are willing) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρός (to) με (Me) ἵνα (that) ζωὴν (life) ἔχητε (you may have).

³⁷ Πᾶν (All) ὃ (that) δίδωσίν (gives) μοι (Me) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), πρὸς (to) ἐμὲ (Me) ἥξει (will come), καὶ (and) τὸν (the one) ἐρχόμενον (coming) πρός (to) με (Me), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐκβάλω (shall I cast) ἔξω (out).

⁴¹ Ἐγόγγυζον (Were grumbling) οὖν (therefore) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) περὶ (about) αὐτοῦ (Him) ὅτι (because) εἶπεν (He said), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) ὁ (-) καταβὰς (having come down) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).”

⁴⁴ οὐδεὶς (No one) δύναται (is able) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρός (to) με (Me), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), ὁ (the one) πέμψας (having sent) με (Me), ἑλκύσῃ (draws) αὐτόν (him), κἀγὼ (and I) ἀναστήσω (will raise up) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day). ⁴⁵ ἔστιν (It is) γεγραμμένον (written) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets): ‘Καὶ (And) ἔσονται (they will be) πάντες (all) διδακτοὶ (taught) Θεοῦ (of God).’ πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) ἀκούσας (having heard) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) καὶ (and) μαθὼν (having learned), ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) ἐμέ (Me).

⁴⁸ ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life). ⁴⁹ οἱ (The) πατέρες (fathers) ὑμῶν (of You) ἔφαγον (ate) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐρήμῳ (wilderness) τὸ (the) μάννα (manna), καὶ (and) ἀπέθανον (died). ⁵⁰ οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) ὁ (-) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβαίνων (coming down), ἵνα (that) τις (anyone) ἐξ (of) αὐτοῦ (it) φάγῃ (may eat), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ἀποθάνῃ (die). ⁵¹ ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) ὁ (-) ζῶν (living), ὁ (-) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβάς (having come down); ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) φάγῃ (shall have eaten) ἐκ (of) τούτου (this) τοῦ (-) ἄρτου (bread), ζήσει (he will live) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age); καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) δὲ (also) ὃν (that) ἐγὼ (I) δώσω (will give), ἡ (the) σάρξ (flesh) μού (of Me) ἐστιν (is) ὑπὲρ (for) τῆς (the) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) ζωῆς (life).” ⁵² Ἐμάχοντο (Were arguing) οὖν (therefore) πρὸς (with) ἀλλήλους (one another) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), λέγοντες (saying), “Πῶς (How) δύναται (is able) οὗτος (this man) ἡμῖν (us) δοῦναι (to give) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) ‹αὐτοῦ› (of Him) φαγεῖν (to eat)?” ⁵³ Εἶπεν (Said) οὖν (therefore) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) φάγητε (you shall have eaten) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man), καὶ (and) πίητε (shall have drunk) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), οὐκ (not) ἔχετε (you have) ζωὴν (life) ἐν (in) ἑαυτοῖς (yourselves). ⁵⁴ ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) μου (of Me) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh), καὶ (and) πίνων (drinking) μου (of Me) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), ἔχει (has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal), κἀγὼ (and I) ἀναστήσω (will raise up) αὐτὸν (him) τῇ (in the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day). ⁵⁵ ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) σάρξ (flesh) μου (of Me), ἀληθής (true) ἐστιν (is) βρῶσις (food), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) αἷμά (blood) μου (of Me), ἀληθής (true) ἐστιν (is) πόσις (drink). ⁵⁶ Ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) μου (of Me) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) καὶ (and) πίνων (drinking) μου (of Me) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) μένει (abides), κἀγὼ (and I) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him). ⁵⁷ καθὼς (As) ἀπέστειλέν (sent) με (Me) ὁ (the) ζῶν (living) Πατὴρ (Father), κἀγὼ (and I) ζῶ (live) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (also) ὁ (the one) τρώγων (feeding on) με (Me), κἀκεῖνος (he also) ζήσει (will live) δι’ (because of) ἐμέ (Me). ⁵⁸ οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) ὁ (-) ἐξ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβάς (having come down), οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ἔφαγον (ate) οἱ (the) πατέρες (fathers) καὶ (and) ἀπέθανον (died). ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) τοῦτον (this) τὸν (-) ἄρτον (bread) ζήσει (will live) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age).”

⁶⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔλεγεν (He was saying), “Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) εἴρηκα (have I said) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρός (to) με (Me), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it shall) δεδομένον (have been granted) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father).”

³⁷ Ἐν (In) δὲ (now) τῇ (the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day), τῇ (the) μεγάλῃ (great day) τῆς (of the) ἑορτῆς (feast), εἱστήκει (stood) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (cried out), λέγων (saying), “Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) διψᾷ (thirsts), ἐρχέσθω (let him come) πρός (to) με (Me) καὶ (and) πινέτω (drink). ³⁸ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (has said) ἡ (the) γραφή (Scripture): ‘Ποταμοὶ (Rivers) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) κοιλίας (belly) αὐτοῦ (of him) ῥεύσουσιν (will flow) ὕδατος (of water) ζῶντος (living).’”

¹⁶ Τὸ (The) ποτήριον (cup) τῆς (-) εὐλογίας (of blessing) ὃ (that) εὐλογοῦμεν (we bless), οὐχὶ (not) κοινωνία (a participation) ἐστὶν (is it) τοῦ (in the) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ)? τὸν (The) ἄρτον (bread) ὃν (that) κλῶμεν (we break), οὐχὶ (not) κοινωνία (a participation) τοῦ (in the) σώματος (body) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) ἐστιν (is it)? ¹⁷ ὅτι (Because there is) εἷς (one) ἄρτος (loaf), ἓν (one) σῶμα (body) οἱ (the) πολλοί (many) ἐσμεν (we are); οἱ (-) γὰρ (for) πάντες (all) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ἑνὸς (one) ἄρτου (loaf) μετέχομεν (we partake). ¹⁸ βλέπετε (Consider) τὸν (-) Ἰσραὴλ (Israel) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh): οὐχ (Not) οἱ (those) ἐσθίοντες (eating) τὰς (the) θυσίας (sacrifices), κοινωνοὶ (fellow partakers) τοῦ (in the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) εἰσίν (are)?

²³ Ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) παρέλαβον (received) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ὃ (that which) καὶ (also) παρέδωκα (I delivered) ὑμῖν (to you), ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νυκτὶ (night) ᾗ (in which) παρεδίδετο (He was betrayed), ἔλαβεν (took) ἄρτον (bread), ²⁴ καὶ (and) εὐχαριστήσας (having given thanks), ἔκλασεν (He broke it) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Τοῦτό (This) μού (of Me) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body), τὸ (which is) ὑπὲρ (for) ὑμῶν (you); τοῦτο (this) ποιεῖτε (do) εἰς (in) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (of Me) ἀνάμνησιν (remembrance).” ²⁵ ὡσαύτως (Likewise) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup), μετὰ (after) τὸ (-) δειπνῆσαι (having supped), λέγων (saying), “Τοῦτο (This) τὸ (-) ποτήριον (cup) ἡ (the) καινὴ (new) διαθήκη (covenant) ἐστὶν (is) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) ἐμῷ (My) αἵματι (blood); τοῦτο (this) ποιεῖτε (do), ὁσάκις (as often as) ἐὰν (if) πίνητε (you might drink it), εἰς (in) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (of Me) ἀνάμνησιν (remembrance).” ²⁶ ὁσάκις (As often as) γὰρ (for) ἐὰν (if) ἐσθίητε (you may eat) τὸν (the) ἄρτον (bread) τοῦτον (this), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) πίνητε (may drink), τὸν (the) θάνατον (death) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) καταγγέλλετε (you proclaim) ἄχρι (until) οὗ (that) ἔλθῃ (He should come). ²⁷ Ὥστε (Therefore) ὃς (whoever) ἂν (-) ἐσθίῃ (should eat) τὸν (the) ἄρτον (bread) ἢ (or) πίνῃ (should drink) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἀναξίως (unworthily), ἔνοχος (guilty) ἔσται (will be) τοῦ (of the) σώματος (body) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord). ²⁸ δοκιμαζέτω (Let examine) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἑαυτόν (himself), καὶ (and) οὕτως (in this manner) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ἄρτου (bread) ἐσθιέτω (let him eat), καὶ (and) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ποτηρίου (cup) πινέτω (let him drink). ²⁹ ὁ (The one) γὰρ (for) ἐσθίων (eating) καὶ (and) πίνων (drinking) κρίμα (judgment) ἑαυτῷ (on himself), ἐσθίει (eats) καὶ (and) πίνει (drinks) μὴ (not) διακρίνων (discerning) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body).

¹⁶ οὐ (Not) πεινάσουσιν (they will hunger) ἔτι (any more), οὐδὲ (neither) διψήσουσιν (will they thirst) ἔτι (anymore), οὐδὲ (nor) μὴ (at all) πέσῃ (shall fall) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) καῦμα (scorching heat);

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νύμφη (bride) λέγουσιν (say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) ἀκούων (hearing), εἰπάτω (let him say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) διψῶν (thirsting) ἐρχέσθω (let him come); ὁ (the one) θέλων (desiring), λαβέτω (let him take) ὕδωρ (the water) ζωῆς (of life) δωρεάν (freely).
