¹³ Καὶ (And) λέγουσιν (say) αὐτῇ (to her) ἐκεῖνοι (they), “Γύναι (Woman), τί (why) κλαίεις (weep you)?” Λέγει (She says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὅτι (Because) Ἦραν (they have taken away) τὸν (the) Κύριόν (Lord) μου (of me), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know) ποῦ (where) ἔθηκαν (they have laid) αὐτόν (Him).”

¹⁷ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Τίνες (What) οἱ (-) λόγοι (words are) οὗτοι (these) οὓς (that) ἀντιβάλλετε (you exchange) πρὸς (with) ἀλλήλους (one another) περιπατοῦντες (walking)?” Καὶ (And) ἐστάθησαν (they stood still), σκυθρωποί (looking sad).

⁴ Καὶ (And) λέγει (says) αὐτῇ (to her) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Τί (What) ἐμοὶ (to Me) καὶ (and) σοί (to you), γύναι (woman)? οὔπω (Not yet) ἥκει (is come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) μου (of Me).”

²⁷ Εἰρήνην (Peace) ἀφίημι (I leave) ὑμῖν (with you); εἰρήνην (peace) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) δίδωμι (I give) ὑμῖν (to you); οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δίδωσιν (gives), ἐγὼ (I) δίδωμι (give) ὑμῖν (to you). μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart), μηδὲ (nor) δειλιάτω (let it fear). ²⁸ ἠκούσατε (You heard) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) εἶπον (said) ὑμῖν (to you), ‘Ὑπάγω (I am going away) καὶ (and) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).’ εἰ (If) ἠγαπᾶτέ (you loved) με (Me), ἐχάρητε (you would have rejoiced) ἄν (-) ὅτι (that) πορεύομαι (I am going) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) μείζων (greater than) μού (I) ἐστιν (is).

⁶ ἀλλ’ (But) ὅτι (because) ταῦτα (these things) λελάληκα (I have said) ὑμῖν (to you), ἡ (-) λύπη (sorrow) πεπλήρωκεν (has filled) ὑμῶν (your) τὴν (-) καρδίαν (heart). ⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ἐγὼ (I) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you), συμφέρει (it is profitable) ὑμῖν (for you) ἵνα (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἀπέλθω (should go away). ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) μὴ (not) ἀπέλθω (I go away), ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper) οὐ (no) μὴ (not at all) ἔλθῃ (will come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) πορευθῶ (I go), πέμψω (I will send) αὐτὸν (Him) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

²⁰ ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) κλαύσετε (will weep) καὶ (and) θρηνήσετε (will lament) ὑμεῖς (you), ὁ (-) δὲ (but) κόσμος (the world) χαρήσεται (will rejoice). ὑμεῖς (You) λυπηθήσεσθε (will be grieved), ἀλλ’ (but) ἡ (the) λύπη (grief) ὑμῶν (of you) εἰς (to) χαρὰν (joy) γενήσεται (will turn). ²¹ ἡ (The) γυνὴ (woman) ὅταν (when) τίκτῃ (she is giving birth), λύπην (pain) ἔχει (has), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) αὐτῆς (of her); ὅταν (when) δὲ (however) γεννήσῃ (she brings forth) τὸ (the) παιδίον (child), οὐκέτι (no longer) μνημονεύει (she remembers) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation), διὰ (on account of) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) ὅτι (that) ἐγεννήθη (has been born) ἄνθρωπος (a man) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world). ²² καὶ (Also) ὑμεῖς (you) οὖν (therefore), νῦν (now) μὲν (indeed) λύπην (grief) ἔχετε (have); πάλιν (again) δὲ (however) ὄψομαι (I will see) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) χαρήσεται (will rejoice) ὑμῶν (your) ἡ (-) καρδία (heart), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) ὑμῶν (of you) οὐδεὶς (no one) αἴρει (will take) ἀφ’ (from) ὑμῶν (you).

²⁶ Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) οὖν (therefore), ἰδὼν (having seen) τὴν (His) μητέρα (mother) καὶ (and) τὸν (the) μαθητὴν (disciple) παρεστῶτα (standing by) ὃν (whom) ἠγάπα (He loved), λέγει (says) τῇ (to) μητρί (His mother), “Γύναι (Woman), ἴδε (behold), ὁ (the) υἱός (son) σου (of you).”

² τρέχει (She runs) οὖν (therefore) καὶ (and) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) Σίμωνα (Simon) Πέτρον (Peter) καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) ἄλλον (other) μαθητὴν (disciple), ὃν (whom) ἐφίλει (loved) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), καὶ (and) λέγει (she says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἦραν (They have taken away) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) οἴδαμεν (we know) ποῦ (where) ἔθηκαν (they have laid) αὐτόν (Him).”

¹⁵ λέγει (Says) αὐτῇ (to her) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Γύναι (Woman), τί (why) κλαίεις (do you weep)? τίνα (Whom) ζητεῖς (do you seek)?” Ἐκείνη (She), δοκοῦσα (thinking) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) κηπουρός (gardener) ἐστιν (He is), λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Κύριε (Sir), εἰ (if) σὺ (you) ἐβάστασας (have carried off) αὐτόν (him), εἰπέ (tell) μοι (me) ποῦ (where) ἔθηκας (you have laid) αὐτόν (Him), κἀγὼ (and I) αὐτὸν (him) ἀρῶ (will take away).”

¹³ Τότε (Then) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul), “Τί (What) ποιεῖτε (are you doing), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) συνθρύπτοντές (breaking) μου (my) τὴν (-) καρδίαν (heart)? ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) δεθῆναι (to be bound), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἀποθανεῖν (to die) εἰς (at) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), ἑτοίμως (readiness) ἔχω (have), ὑπὲρ (for) τοῦ (the) ὀνόματος (name) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).”
