¹¹ Ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have spoken) ὑμῖν (to you), ἵνα (that) ἡ (-) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (My) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ᾖ (may be), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ὑμῶν (of you) πληρωθῇ (may be full).

⁵ καὶ (And) εὑρὼν (having found it), ἐπιτίθησιν (he lays it) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) ὤμους (shoulders) αὐτοῦ (of him), χαίρων (rejoicing).

⁹ καὶ (And) εὑροῦσα (having found it), συνκαλεῖ (she calls together) τὰς (the) φίλας (friends) καὶ (and) γείτονας (neighbors), λέγουσα (saying), ‘Συνχάρητέ (Rejoice with) μοι (me), ὅτι (for) εὗρον (I have found) τὴν (the) δραχμὴν (drachma) ἣν (that) ἀπώλεσα (I lost).’

²³ καὶ (and) φέρετε (having brought) τὸν (the) μόσχον (calf) τὸν (-) σιτευτόν (fattened), θύσατε (kill it), καὶ (and) φαγόντες (having eaten), εὐφρανθῶμεν (let us be merry).

³² εὐφρανθῆναι (To make merry) δὲ (however) καὶ (and) χαρῆναι (to rejoice) ἔδει (it was fitting), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) ἀδελφός (brother) σου (of you) οὗτος (this), νεκρὸς (dead) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (is alive again); καὶ (and) ἀπολωλὼς (he was lost), καὶ (and) εὑρέθη (is found).’”

²⁹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), νυμφίος (the bridegroom) ἐστίν (is); ὁ (the) δὲ (now) φίλος (friend) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ὁ (the one) ἑστηκὼς (standing) καὶ (and) ἀκούων (listening for) αὐτοῦ (him), χαρᾷ (with joy) χαίρει (rejoices) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) φωνὴν (voice) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom). αὕτη (This) οὖν (therefore), ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (of mine), πεπλήρωται (is fulfilled).

²⁴ ἕως (Until) ἄρτι (now) οὐκ (not) ᾐτήσατε (you have asked) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) μου (of Me). αἰτεῖτε (Ask) καὶ (and) λήμψεσθε (you will receive), ἵνα (that) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ὑμῶν (of you) ᾖ (may be) πεπληρωμένη (full).

³³ ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have spoken) ὑμῖν (to you) ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχητε (you may have). ἐν (In) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἔχετε (you have). ἀλλὰ (But) θαρσεῖτε (take courage); ἐγὼ (I) νενίκηκα (have overcome) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).”

¹³ Νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) σὲ (You) ἔρχομαι (I am coming); καὶ (and) ταῦτα (these things) λαλῶ (I speak) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world), ἵνα (so that) ἔχωσιν (they may have) τὴν (-) χαρὰν (joy) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) πεπληρωμένην (fulfilled) ἐν (within) ἑαυτοῖς (them).

¹³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (the God) τῆς (-) ἐλπίδος (of hope) πληρώσαι (may fill) ὑμᾶς (you) πάσης (with all) χαρᾶς (joy) καὶ (and) εἰρήνης (peace), ἐν (in) τῷ (-) πιστεύειν (believing); εἰς (for) τὸ (-) περισσεύειν (to abound) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) ἐλπίδι (hope) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (the power) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy).

²⁴ οὐχ (Not) ὅτι (that) κυριεύομεν (we lord it over) ὑμῶν (your) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith), ἀλλὰ (but) συνεργοί (fellow workers) ἐσμεν (are) τῆς (of the) χαρᾶς (joy) ὑμῶν (with you); τῇ (in the) γὰρ (for) πίστει (faith) ἑστήκατε (you stand firm).

¹⁸ καὶ (And) μὴ (not) μεθύσκεσθε (to be drunk) οἴνῳ (with wine), ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) ἐστιν (is) ἀσωτία (debauchery). ἀλλὰ (Instead) πληροῦσθε (be filled) ἐν (with) Πνεύματι (the Spirit),

²⁵ Καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this) πεποιθὼς (having been persuaded of), οἶδα (I know) ὅτι (that) μενῶ (I will remain) καὶ (and) παραμενῶ (will continue with) πᾶσιν (all) ὑμῖν (of you) εἰς (for) τὴν (-) ὑμῶν (your) προκοπὴν (progress) καὶ (and) χαρὰν (joy) τῆς (of the) πίστεως (faith),

¹⁶ Πάντοτε (Always) χαίρετε (rejoice).

⁸ ὃν (whom) οὐκ (not) ἰδόντες (having seen) ἀγαπᾶτε (you love), εἰς (on) ὃν (whom) ἄρτι (now though) μὴ (not) ὁρῶντες (seeing) πιστεύοντες (believing) δὲ (now) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (you exult) χαρᾷ (with joy) ἀνεκλαλήτῳ (inexpressible) καὶ (and) δεδοξασμένῃ (filled with glory),

⁴ καὶ (And) ταῦτα (these things) γράφομεν (write) ἡμεῖς (we) ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡμῶν (of us) ᾖ (might be) πεπληρωμένη (complete).

¹² Πολλὰ (Many things) ἔχων (having) ὑμῖν (to you) γράφειν (to write), οὐκ (not) ἐβουλήθην (I purposed) διὰ (with) χάρτου (paper) καὶ (and) μέλανος (ink); ἀλλὰ (but) ἐλπίζω (I hope) γενέσθαι (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) στόμα (mouth) πρὸς (to) στόμα (mouth) λαλῆσαι (to speak), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡμῶν (of us) πεπληρωμένη (having been completed) ᾖ (may be).
