¹⁹ πορευθέντες (Having gone) οὖν (therefore), μαθητεύσατε (disciple) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations), βαπτίζοντες (baptizing) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit),

³⁶ αὐτὸς (Himself) Δαυὶδ (David) εἶπεν (said) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) τῷ (-) Ἁγίῳ (Holy): ‘Εἶπεν (Said) Κύριος (the Lord) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) μου (of me), “Κάθου (Sit) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) μου (of Me), Ἕως (until) ἂν (-) θῶ (I place) τοὺς (of the) ἐχθρούς (enemies) σου (of You) Ὑποκάτω (as a footstool) τῶν (of the) ποδῶν (feet) σου (of You).”’

¹¹ καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) ἄγωσιν (they might lead away) ὑμᾶς (you), παραδιδόντες (delivering you up), μὴ (not) προμεριμνᾶτε (be anxious beforehand) τί (what) λαλήσητε (you should say), ἀλλ’ (but) ὃ (whatever) ἐὰν (if) δοθῇ (might be given) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour), τοῦτο (that) λαλεῖτε (speak); οὐ (not) γάρ (for) ἐστε (are) ὑμεῖς (you) οἱ (those) λαλοῦντες (speaking), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy).

¹⁵ ἔσται (He will be) γὰρ (for) μέγας (great) ἐνώπιον (before) ‹τοῦ› (the) Κυρίου (Lord); καὶ (and) οἶνον (wine) καὶ (and) σίκερα (strong drink) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) πίῃ (shall he drink), καὶ (and) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) πλησθήσεται (he will be filled) ἔτι (even) ἐκ (from) κοιλίας (the womb) μητρὸς (of the mother) αὐτοῦ (of him).

³⁵ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἐπελεύσεται (will come) ἐπὶ (upon) σέ (you), καὶ (and) δύναμις (power) Ὑψίστου (of the Most High) ἐπισκιάσει (will overshadow) σοι (you); διὸ (therefore) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) γεννώμενον (being born) ἅγιον (Holy One) κληθήσεται (will be called) Υἱὸς (the Son) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁴¹ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), ὡς (as) ἤκουσεν (heard) τὸν (the) ἀσπασμὸν (greeting) τῆς (-) Μαρίας (of Mary) ἡ (-) Ἐλισάβετ (Elizabeth), ἐσκίρτησεν (leaped) τὸ (the) βρέφος (baby) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) κοιλίᾳ (womb) αὐτῆς (of her); καὶ (and) ἐπλήσθη (was filled) Πνεύματος (with the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) ἡ (-) Ἐλισάβετ (Elizabeth),

²² καὶ (and) καταβῆναι (descended) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) σωματικῷ (in a bodily) εἴδει (form) ὡς (as) περιστερὰν (a dove) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτόν (Him), καὶ (and) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) γενέσθαι (came): “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Υἱός (Son) μου (of Me), ὁ (the) ἀγαπητός (beloved); ἐν (in) σοὶ (You) εὐδόκησα (I am well pleased).”

¹³ εἰ (If) οὖν (therefore) ὑμεῖς (you), πονηροὶ (evil) ὑπάρχοντες (being), οἴδατε (know) δόματα (gifts) ἀγαθὰ (good) διδόναι (to give) τοῖς (to the) τέκνοις (children) ὑμῶν (of you), πόσῳ (how much) μᾶλλον (more) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὁ (who is) ἐξ (in) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) δώσει (will give) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Ἅγιον (Holy) τοῖς (to those) αἰτοῦσιν (asking) αὐτόν (Him)!”

⁴⁹ Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) ἐξαποστέλλω (am sending) τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you); ὑμεῖς (you) δὲ (however) καθίσατε (remain) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) ἕως (until) οὗ (that) ἐνδύσησθε (you should be clothed with) ἐξ (from) ὕψους (on high) δύναμιν (power).”

²² ὅτε (When) οὖν (therefore) ἠγέρθη (He was raised up) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ἐμνήσθησαν (remembered) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅτι (that) τοῦτο (this) ἔλεγεν (He had said), καὶ (and) ἐπίστευσαν (they believed) τῇ (the) γραφῇ (Scripture) καὶ (and) τῷ (the) λόγῳ (word) ὃν (that) εἶπεν (had spoken) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus).

⁴⁵ ἔστιν (It is) γεγραμμένον (written) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets): ‘Καὶ (And) ἔσονται (they will be) πάντες (all) διδακτοὶ (taught) Θεοῦ (of God).’ πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) ἀκούσας (having heard) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) καὶ (and) μαθὼν (having learned), ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) ἐμέ (Me).

³⁹ τοῦτο (This) δὲ (now) εἶπεν (He said) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit), οὗ (whom) ἔμελλον (were about) λαμβάνειν (to receive) οἱ (those) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) εἰς (in) αὐτόν (Him); οὔπω (not yet given) γὰρ (for) ἦν (was) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit), ὅτι (because) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) οὐδέπω (not yet) ἐδοξάσθη (was glorified).

¹⁶ Ταῦτα (These things) οὐκ (not) ἔγνωσαν (knew) αὐτοῦ (of Him) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) τὸ (from the) πρῶτον (first), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅτε (when) ἐδοξάσθη (was glorified) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), τότε (then) ἐμνήσθησαν (they remembered) ὅτι (that) ταῦτα (these things) ἦν (were) ἐπ’ (of) αὐτῷ (Him) γεγραμμένα (written), καὶ (and) ταῦτα (these things) ἐποίησαν (they had done) αὐτῷ (to Him).

¹⁶ Κἀγὼ (And I) ἐρωτήσω (will ask) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (and) ἄλλον (another) Παράκλητον (Helper) δώσει (He will give) ὑμῖν (you), ἵνα (that) ᾖ (He may be) «μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα» (age),

²⁶ Ὅταν (When) ἔλθῃ (comes) ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper), ὃν (whom) ἐγὼ (I) πέμψω (will send) ὑμῖν (to you) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὃ (who) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth), ἐκεῖνος (He) μαρτυρήσει (will bear witness) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me).

⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ἐγὼ (I) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you), συμφέρει (it is profitable) ὑμῖν (for you) ἵνα (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἀπέλθω (should go away). ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) μὴ (not) ἀπέλθω (I go away), ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper) οὐ (no) μὴ (not at all) ἔλθῃ (will come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) πορευθῶ (I go), πέμψω (I will send) αὐτὸν (Him) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹³ ὅταν (When) δὲ (however) ἔλθῃ (shall come) ἐκεῖνος (He), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὁδηγήσει (He will guide) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν* (into) τῇ* (the) ἀληθείᾳ* (truth) πάσῃ* (all); οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) λαλήσει (He will speak) ἀφ’ (from) ἑαυτοῦ (Himself), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅσα (whatever) ἀκούσει* (He may hear), λαλήσει (He will speak); καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) ἐρχόμενα (coming) ἀναγγελεῖ (He will declare) ὑμῖν (to you). ¹⁴ ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐμὲ (Me) δοξάσει (will glorify), ὅτι (for) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (that which is) ἐμοῦ (Mine) λήμψεται (He will take), καὶ (and) ἀναγγελεῖ (will disclose) ὑμῖν (to you).

²² καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this) εἰπὼν (having said), ἐνεφύσησεν (He breathed on them), καὶ (and) λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Λάβετε (Receive) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Ἅγιον (Holy).

² ἄχρι (until) ἧς (the) ἡμέρας (day), ἐντειλάμενος (having given orders) τοῖς (to the) ἀποστόλοις (apostles) διὰ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) οὓς (whom) ἐξελέξατο (He had chosen), ἀνελήμφθη (He was taken up),

⁴ Καὶ (And) συναλιζόμενος (being assembled together), παρήγγειλεν (He instructed) αὐτοῖς (them) ἀπὸ (from) Ἱεροσολύμων (Jerusalem) μὴ (not) χωρίζεσθαι (to depart), ἀλλὰ (but) περιμένειν (to await) τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father): “Ἣν (That which) ἠκούσατέ (you heard) μου (of Me);

⁸ ἀλλὰ (But) λήμψεσθε (you will receive) δύναμιν (power), ἐπελθόντος (having come) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ἔσεσθέ (you will be) μου (for Me) μάρτυρες (witnesses), ἔν (in) τε (both) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) τῇ (-) Ἰουδαίᾳ (Judea), καὶ (and) Σαμαρείᾳ (Samaria), καὶ (and) ἕως (to) ἐσχάτου (the uttermost part) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).”

⁴ καὶ (And) ἐπλήσθησαν (they were filled with) πάντες (all) Πνεύματος (Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), καὶ (and) ἤρξαντο (began) λαλεῖν (to speak) ἑτέραις (in other) γλώσσαις (tongues) καθὼς (as) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐδίδου (was giving) ἀποφθέγγεσθαι (to utter forth) αὐτοῖς (to them).

³³ τῇ (To the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὑψωθεὶς (having been exalted), τήν (-) τε (and) ἐπαγγελίαν (the promise) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Ἁγίου (Holy) λαβὼν (having received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father), ἐξέχεεν (He has poured out) τοῦτο (this) ὃ (which) ὑμεῖς (you) καὶ (both) βλέπετε (are seeing) καὶ (and) ἀκούετε (hearing).

³ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (however) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter), “Ἁνανία (Ananias), διὰ (because of) τί (why) ἐπλήρωσεν (has filled) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) σου (of you) ψεύσασθαί (to lie to) σε (for you) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) καὶ (and) νοσφίσασθαι (to keep back) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) τιμῆς (proceeds) τοῦ (of the) χωρίου (land)?

⁵¹ Σκληροτράχηλοι (Stiff-necked) καὶ (and) ἀπερίτμητοι (uncircumcised) καρδίαις (in heart) καὶ (and) τοῖς (-) ὠσίν (ears), ὑμεῖς (you) ἀεὶ (always) τῷ (the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) τῷ (-) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) ἀντιπίπτετε (resist); ὡς (as) οἱ (the) πατέρες (fathers) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you).

⁵⁵ ὑπάρχων (He being) δὲ (however) πλήρης (full) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ἀτενίσας (having looked intently) εἰς (into) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), εἶδεν (saw) δόξαν (the glory) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God),

¹⁶ ἐμνήσθην (I remembered) δὲ (then) τοῦ (the) ῥήματος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), ὡς (how) ἔλεγεν (He had said), ‘Ἰωάννης (John) μὲν (indeed) ἐβάπτισεν (baptized) ὕδατι (with water); ὑμεῖς (you) δὲ (however) βαπτισθήσεσθε (will be baptized) ἐν (with the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).’

² Λειτουργούντων (As were ministering) δὲ (now) αὐτῶν (they) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) καὶ (and) νηστευόντων (fasting), εἶπεν (said) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy), “Ἀφορίσατε (Set apart) δή (then) μοι (to Me) τὸν (-) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Σαῦλον (Saul) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ὃ (to which) προσκέκλημαι (I have called) αὐτούς (them).”

⁴ Αὐτοὶ (They) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἐκπεμφθέντες (having been sent forth) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit), κατῆλθον (went down) εἰς (to) Σελεύκειαν (Seleucia). ἐκεῖθέν (From there) τε (then) ἀπέπλευσαν (they sailed) εἰς (to) Κύπρον (Cyprus).

⁸ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καρδιογνώστης (heart-knowing) Θεὸς (God) ἐμαρτύρησεν (bore witness) αὐτοῖς (to them), δοὺς (having given them) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy), καθὼς (as) καὶ (also) ἡμῖν (to us),

²⁸ Ἔδοξεν (It seemed good) γὰρ (for) τῷ (to the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) τῷ (-) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) καὶ (and) ἡμῖν (to us), μηδὲν (no) πλέον (further) ἐπιτίθεσθαι (to lay) ὑμῖν (upon you) βάρος (burden), πλὴν (except) τούτων (these) τῶν (-) ἐπάναγκες (necessary things):

⁶ Διῆλθον (Having passed through) δὲ (then) τὴν (-) Φρυγίαν (Phrygia) καὶ (and) Γαλατικὴν (the Galatian) χώραν (region), κωλυθέντες (having been forbidden) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) λαλῆσαι (to speak) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀσίᾳ (Asia),

²⁸ Προσέχετε (Take heed) ἑαυτοῖς (to yourselves) καὶ (and) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) ποιμνίῳ (flock) ἐν (among) ᾧ (which) ὑμᾶς (you) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἔθετο (has set) ἐπισκόπους (overseers), ποιμαίνειν (to shepherd) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἣν (which) περιεποιήσατο (He purchased) διὰ (with) τοῦ (-) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own).

³⁵ πάντα (In everything) ὑπέδειξα (I showed) ὑμῖν (you) ὅτι (that) οὕτως (by thus) κοπιῶντας (straining) δεῖ (it behooves us) ἀντιλαμβάνεσθαι (to aid) τῶν (those) ἀσθενούντων (being weak), μνημονεύειν (to remember) τε (and also) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ὅτι (how) αὐτὸς (He Himself) εἶπεν (said), ‘Μακάριόν (Blessed) ἐστιν (it is) μᾶλλον (more) διδόναι (to give) ἢ (than) λαμβάνειν (to receive).’”

²⁵ ἀσύμφωνοι (Discordant) δὲ (then) ὄντες (being) πρὸς (with) ἀλλήλους (one another), ἀπελύοντο (they began to leave), εἰπόντος (having spoken) τοῦ (-) Παύλου (Paul) ῥῆμα (word) ἓν (one) ὅτι (-): “Καλῶς (Rightly) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) διὰ (by) Ἠσαΐου (Isaiah) τοῦ (the) προφήτου (prophet) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) πατέρας (fathers) ὑμῶν (of you),

¹³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (the God) τῆς (-) ἐλπίδος (of hope) πληρώσαι (may fill) ὑμᾶς (you) πάσης (with all) χαρᾶς (joy) καὶ (and) εἰρήνης (peace), ἐν (in) τῷ (-) πιστεύειν (believing); εἰς (for) τὸ (-) περισσεύειν (to abound) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) ἐλπίδι (hope) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (the power) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy).

¹⁶ εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναί (to be) με (me) λειτουργὸν (a minister) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), ἱερουργοῦντα (administering the sacred service) τὸ (of the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) γένηται (might become) ἡ (the) προσφορὰ (offering) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) εὐπρόσδεκτος (acceptable), ἡγιασμένη (having been sanctified) ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

¹⁰ Ἡμῖν (To us) γὰρ (for) ἀπεκάλυψεν (has revealed it) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit). Τὸ (The) γὰρ (for) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) πάντα (all things) ἐραυνᾷ (searches), καὶ (even) τὰ (the) βάθη (depths) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹¹ τίς (Who) γὰρ (for) οἶδεν (knows) ἀνθρώπων (among men) τὰ (the things) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man) τὸ (that is) ἐν (within) αὐτῷ (him)? οὕτως (So) καὶ (also) τὰ (the things) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἔγνωκεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹² ἡμεῖς (We) δὲ (now), οὐ (not) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) ἐλάβομεν (have received), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (who is) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἵνα (that) εἰδῶμεν (we may know) τὰ (the things) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) χαρισθέντα (having been granted) ἡμῖν (to us), ¹³ ἃ (which) καὶ (also) λαλοῦμεν (we speak), οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) διδακτοῖς (taught) ἀνθρωπίνης (of human) σοφίας (wisdom) λόγοις (words), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in those) διδακτοῖς (taught) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit), πνευματικοῖς (by spiritual means) πνευματικὰ (spiritual things) συνκρίνοντες (communicating).

¹⁹ ἢ (Or) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (know you) ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) ὑμῶν (of you) ναὸς (a temple) τοῦ (of the) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματός (Spirit) ἐστιν (is), οὗ (whom) ἔχετε (you have) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God)? καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἐστὲ (you are) ἑαυτῶν (your own),

³ διὸ (Therefore) γνωρίζω (I make known) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) λαλῶν (speaking), λέγει (says) “Αναθεμα (Accursed is) ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Jesus),” καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) εἰπεῖν (to say), “Κυριος (Lord is) ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Jesus),” εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

⁶ ἐν (in) ἁγνότητι (purity), ἐν (in) γνώσει (knowledge), ἐν (in) μακροθυμίᾳ (patience), ἐν (in) χρηστότητι (kindness), ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy), ἐν (in) ἀγάπῃ (love) ἀνυποκρίτῳ (genuine);

¹⁴ Ἡ (The) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) κοινωνία (fellowship) τοῦ (of the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit), μετὰ (be with) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you).

¹³ ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you), ἀκούσαντες (having heard) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) σωτηρίας (salvation) ὑμῶν (of you), ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) καὶ (also) πιστεύσαντες (having believed), ἐσφραγίσθητε (you were sealed) τῷ (with the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἐπαγγελίας (of promise) τῷ (-) Ἁγίῳ (Holy),

¹⁷ ἵνα (that) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) τῆς (-) δόξης (of glory), δώῃ (may give) ὑμῖν (to you) πνεῦμα (a spirit) σοφίας (of wisdom) καὶ (and) ἀποκαλύψεως (revelation) ἐν (in) ἐπιγνώσει (the knowledge) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

³⁰ Καὶ (And) μὴ (not) λυπεῖτε (grieve) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) ἐσφραγίσθητε (you were sealed) εἰς (for) ἡμέραν (the day) ἀπολυτρώσεως (of redemption).

⁵ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) ἡμῶν (of us) οὐκ (not) ἐγενήθη (came) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) λόγῳ (word) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (power) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy), καὶ (and) [ἐν] (with) πληροφορίᾳ (full assurance) πολλῇ (much), καθὼς (just as) οἴδατε (you know) οἷοι (what) ἐγενήθημεν (we were) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) δι’ (on account of) ὑμᾶς (you). ⁶ Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) μιμηταὶ (imitators) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐγενήθητε (became), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), δεξάμενοι (having received) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) θλίψει (tribulation) πολλῇ (much), μετὰ (with) χαρᾶς (the joy) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy),

⁸ τοιγαροῦν (So then), ὁ (the one) ἀθετῶν (rejecting this), οὐκ (not) ἄνθρωπον (man) ἀθετεῖ (disregards), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), τὸν (the One) καὶ (also) διδόντα (giving) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τὸ (-) ἅγιον (Holy) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹⁴ τὴν (The) καλὴν (good) παραθήκην (deposit entrusted to you) φύλαξον (keep), διὰ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), τοῦ (the One) ἐνοικοῦντος (dwelling) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us).

⁵ οὐκ (not) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) τῶν (-) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) ἃ (that) ἐποιήσαμεν (did) ἡμεῖς (we), ἀλλὰ (but) κατὰ (according to) τὸ (-) αὐτοῦ (His) ἔλεος (mercy), ἔσωσεν (He saved) ἡμᾶς (us) διὰ (through) λουτροῦ (the washing) παλινγενεσίας (of regeneration) καὶ (and) ἀνακαινώσεως (renewing) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy),

⁴ συνεπιμαρτυροῦντος (bearing witness) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) σημείοις (by signs) τε (together with them) καὶ (and) τέρασιν (wonders), καὶ (and) ποικίλαις (by various) δυνάμεσιν (miracles), καὶ (and) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) μερισμοῖς (distributions), κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) αὐτοῦ (of Him) θέλησιν (will).

⁷ Διό (Therefore), καθὼς (just as) λέγει (says) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy): “Σήμερον (Today) ἐὰν (if) τῆς (the) φωνῆς (voice) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἀκούσητε (you should hear),

⁸ Τοῦτο (By this) δηλοῦντος (was signifying) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Ἁγίου (Holy) μήπω (that not yet) πεφανερῶσθαι (has been made manifest) τὴν (the) τῶν (into the) ἁγίων (holy places) ὁδὸν (way), ἔτι (still) τῆς (the) πρώτης (first) σκηνῆς (tabernacle) ἐχούσης (having) στάσιν (a standing),

¹⁵ Μαρτυρεῖ (Bears witness) δὲ (now) ἡμῖν (to us) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy); μετὰ (after) γὰρ (for) τὸ (-) εἰρηκέναι (having said):

¹² οἷς (to whom) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it was revealed) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτοῖς (themselves), ὑμῖν (you) δὲ (however), διηκόνουν (they were serving) αὐτά (in those things) ἃ (which) νῦν (now) ἀνηγγέλη (have been proclaimed) ὑμῖν (to you) διὰ (by) τῶν (those) εὐαγγελισαμένων (having proclaimed the gospel to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (by) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) ἀποσταλέντι (having been sent) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), εἰς (into) ἃ (which) ἐπιθυμοῦσιν (desire) ἄγγελοι (angels) παρακύψαι (to look).

²¹ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) θελήματι (by the will) ἀνθρώπου (of man) ἠνέχθη (was brought) προφητεία (prophecy) ποτέ (at any time), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὸ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) φερόμενοι (being carried), ἐλάλησαν (spoke) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) ἄνθρωποι (men).

²⁰ Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) χρῖσμα (the anointing) ἔχετε (have) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy One), καὶ (and) οἴδατε (know you) πάντες (all).

²⁷ καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you), τὸ (the) χρῖσμα (anointing) ὃ (that) ἐλάβετε (you received) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (Him), μένει (abides) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) χρείαν (need) ἔχετε (you have) ἵνα (that) τις (anyone) διδάσκῃ (should teach) ὑμᾶς (you). ἀλλ’ (But) ὡς (just as) τὸ (the) αὐτοῦ (same) χρῖσμα (anointing) διδάσκει (teaches) ὑμᾶς (you) περὶ (concerning) πάντων (all things), καὶ (and) ἀληθές (true) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ψεῦδος (a lie); καὶ (and) καθὼς (just as) ἐδίδαξεν (it has taught) ὑμᾶς (you), μένετε (you shall abide) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him).

²⁰ Ὑμεῖς (You) δέ (however), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ἐποικοδομοῦντες (building up) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves), τῇ (in the) ἁγιωτάτῃ (most holy) ὑμῶν (of you) πίστει (faith) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) προσευχόμενοι (praying),

¹¹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀδικηθῇ (shall be injured) ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) θανάτου (death) τοῦ (-) δευτέρου (second).
