¹³ Οἴδατε (You know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) δι’ (in) ἀσθένειαν (weakness) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) εὐηγγελισάμην (I proclaimed the gospel) ὑμῖν (to you) τὸ (at the) πρότερον (first);

⁶ Διῆλθον (Having passed through) δὲ (then) τὴν (-) Φρυγίαν (Phrygia) καὶ (and) Γαλατικὴν (the Galatian) χώραν (region), κωλυθέντες (having been forbidden) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) λαλῆσαι (to speak) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀσίᾳ (Asia),

³ κἀγὼ (And I), ἐν (in) ἀσθενείᾳ (weakness), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) φόβῳ (fear), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τρόμῳ (trembling) πολλῷ (much), ἐγενόμην (was) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹⁰ “Ὅτι (For) Αἱ (the) ἐπιστολαὶ (letters),” μέν (indeed) φησίν (they say), “Βαρεῖαι (are weighty) καὶ (and) ἰσχυραί (strong), ἡ (-) δὲ (but) παρουσία (the presence) τοῦ (of the) σώματος (body) ἀσθενὴς (weak), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (speech) ἐξουθενημένος (having been ignored).”

⁶ εἰ (If) δὲ (however), καὶ (even) ἰδιώτης (unpolished) τῷ (-) λόγῳ (in speech I am), ἀλλ’ (yet) οὐ (not) τῇ (-) γνώσει (in knowledge); ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way), φανερώσαντες (we have been made manifest) ἐν (in) πᾶσιν (all things) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

³⁰ Εἰ (If) καυχᾶσθαι (to boast) δεῖ (it behooves me), τὰ (in the things) τῆς (of the) ἀσθενείας (weakness) μου (of me) καυχήσομαι (I will boast).

⁷ καὶ (and) τῇ (the) ὑπερβολῇ (surpassingness) τῶν (of the) ἀποκαλύψεων (revelations). Διὸ (Therefore) ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited), ἐδόθη (was given) μοι (to me) σκόλοψ (a thorn) τῇ (in my) σαρκί (flesh), ἄγγελος (a messenger) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἵνα (that) με (me) κολαφίζῃ (he might buffet), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited). ⁸ ὑπὲρ (For) τούτου (this), τρὶς (three times) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) παρεκάλεσα (I begged), ἵνα (that) ἀποστῇ (it might depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me). ⁹ καὶ (And) εἴρηκέν (He said) μοι (to me), “Ἀρκεῖ (Suffices) σοι (you) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) μου (of Me); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δύναμις (power) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείᾳ (weakness) τελεῖται (is perfected).” Ἥδιστα (Most gladly) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (rather) καυχήσομαι (will I boast) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses) ‹μου› (of me), ἵνα (so that) ἐπισκηνώσῃ (may rest) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμὲ (me) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ). ¹⁰ διὸ (Therefore) εὐδοκῶ (I take pleasure) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses), ἐν (in) ὕβρεσιν (insults), ἐν (in) ἀνάγκαις (hardships), ἐν (in) διωγμοῖς (persecutions), καὶ (and) στενοχωρίαις (difficulties) ὑπὲρ (for) Χριστοῦ (Christ); ὅταν (when) γὰρ (for) ἀσθενῶ (I might be weak), τότε (then) δυνατός (strong) εἰμι (I am).

⁴ καὶ (And) γὰρ (for) ἐσταυρώθη (He was crucified) ἐξ (in) ἀσθενείας (weakness), ἀλλὰ (yet) ζῇ (He lives) ἐκ (by) δυνάμεως (power) Θεοῦ (God’s). καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) ἡμεῖς (we) ἀσθενοῦμεν (are weak) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him), ἀλλὰ (but) ζήσομεν (we will live) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐκ (by) δυνάμεως (power) Θεοῦ (God’s) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you).

⁶ Θαυμάζω (I am astonished) ὅτι (that) οὕτως (so) ταχέως (quickly) μετατίθεσθε (you are deserting) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the One) καλέσαντος (having called) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) χάριτι (the grace) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), εἰς (to) ἕτερον (a different) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel),
