⁶ Μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀπατάτω (let deceive) κενοῖς (with empty) λόγοις (words), διὰ (because of) ταῦτα (these things) γὰρ (for) ἔρχεται (comes) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (-) ἀπειθείας (of disobedience).

⁴ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Βλέπετε (Take heed), μή (lest) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) πλανήσῃ (mislead).

²⁴ ἐγερθήσονται (There will arise) γὰρ (for) ψευδόχριστοι (false Christs) καὶ (and) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets), καὶ (and) δώσουσιν (they will give) σημεῖα (signs) μεγάλα (great), καὶ (and) τέρατα (wonders), ὥστε (so as) πλανῆσαι (to mislead), εἰ (if) δυνατὸν (possible), καὶ (even) τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτούς (elect).

⁵ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἤρξατο (began) λέγειν (to say) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Βλέπετε (Take heed), μή (lest) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) πλανήσῃ (mislead).

²² ἐγερθήσονται (There will arise) γὰρ* (for) ψευδόχριστοι (false Christs) καὶ (and) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets), καὶ (and) δώσουσιν* (will give) σημεῖα (signs) καὶ (and) τέρατα (wonders), πρὸς (so as) τὸ (-) ἀποπλανᾶν (to deceive) εἰ (if) δυνατὸν (possible), τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτούς (elect).

¹⁸ Ἀποκαλύπτεται (Is revealed) γὰρ (for) ὀργὴ (the wrath) Θεοῦ (of God) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπὶ (upon) πᾶσαν (all) ἀσέβειαν (ungodliness) καὶ (and) ἀδικίαν (unrighteousness) ἀνθρώπων (of men), τῶν (-) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) ἐν (by) ἀδικίᾳ (unrighteousness) κατεχόντων (suppressing),

⁷ Μὴ (Not) πλανᾶσθε (be misled); Θεὸς (God) οὐ (not) μυκτηρίζεται (is mocked). ὃ (Whatever) γὰρ (for) ἐὰν (if) σπείρῃ (might sow) ἄνθρωπος (a man), τοῦτο (that) καὶ (also) θερίσει (he will reap). ⁸ ὅτι (For) ὁ (the one) σπείρων (sowing) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) ἑαυτοῦ (of himself), ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) σαρκὸς (flesh) θερίσει (will reap) φθοράν (decay). ὁ (The one) δὲ (however) σπείρων (sowing) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) θερίσει (will reap) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).

² ἐν (in) αἷς (which) ποτε (once) περιεπατήσατε (you walked), κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age), τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (of this), κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) ἄρχοντα (ruler) τῆς (of the) ἐξουσίας (authority) τοῦ (of the) ἀέρος (air), τοῦ (the) πνεύματος (spirit) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now) ἐνεργοῦντος (working) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) υἱοῖς (sons) τῆς (-) ἀπειθείας (of disobedience), ³ ἐν (among) οἷς (whom) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) πάντες (all) ἀνεστράφημέν (lived) ποτε (once) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἐπιθυμίαις (desires) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) ἡμῶν (of us), ποιοῦντες (doing) τὰ (the) θελήματα (things willed) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh), καὶ (and) τῶν (of its) διανοιῶν (thoughts); καὶ (and) ἤμεθα (we were) τέκνα (children), φύσει (by nature), ὀργῆς (of wrath), ὡς (as) καὶ (even) οἱ (the) λοιποί (rest). ⁴ Τοῦτο (This) λέγω (I say) ἵνα (so that) μηδεὶς (no one) ὑμᾶς (you) παραλογίζηται (might delude) ἐν (by) πιθανολογίᾳ (persuasive speech).

⁸ Βλέπετε (Take heed) μή (lest) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) ἔσται (there will be) ὁ (-) συλαγωγῶν (taking captive) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) φιλοσοφίας (philosophy) καὶ (and) κενῆς (empty) ἀπάτης (deceit), κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) παράδοσιν (tradition) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) στοιχεῖα (principles) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) καὶ (and) οὐ (not) κατὰ (according to) Χριστόν (Christ).

¹⁸ μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) καταβραβευέτω (let disqualify), θέλων (delighting) ἐν (in) ταπεινοφροσύνῃ (humility) καὶ (and) θρησκείᾳ (the worship) τῶν (of the) ἀγγέλων (angels), ἃ (which) ἑόρακεν (he has seen) ἐμβατεύων (detailing), εἰκῇ (vainly) φυσιούμενος (being puffed up) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) νοὸς (mind) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of him),

⁶ δι’ (because of) ἃ (which things) ἔρχεται (is coming) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ‹ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (of) ἀπειθείας› (disobedience),

³ μή (No) τις (one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐξαπατήσῃ (should deceive) κατὰ (in) μηδένα (not one) τρόπον (way), ὅτι (because it is) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not until) ἔλθῃ (shall have come) ἡ (the) ἀποστασία (apostasy) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and) ἀποκαλυφθῇ (shall have been revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνθρωπος (man) τῆς (-) ἀνομίας (of lawlessness), ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) τῆς (-) ἀπωλείας (of destruction),

¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false), ¹² ἵνα (in order that) κριθῶσιν (should be judged) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) μὴ (not) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), ἀλλὰ (but) εὐδοκήσαντες (having delighted) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (in unrighteousness).

¹⁹ καὶ (And) βλέπομεν (we see) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) ἠδυνήθησαν (they were able) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter in) δι’ (because of) ἀπιστίαν (unbelief).

⁸ Καὶ (and), “Λίθος (A stone) προσκόμματος (of stumbling) καὶ (and) πέτρα (a rock) σκανδάλου (of offense).” Οἳ (They) προσκόπτουσιν (stumble at), τῷ (to the) λόγῳ (word) ἀπειθοῦντες (being disobedient), εἰς (to) ὃ (which) καὶ (also) ἐτέθησαν (they were appointed).

¹ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), μὴ (not) παντὶ (every) πνεύματι (spirit) πιστεύετε (believe), ἀλλὰ (but) δοκιμάζετε (test) τὰ (the) πνεύματα (spirits), εἰ (whether) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (they are), ὅτι (because) πολλοὶ (many) ψευδοπροφῆται (false prophets) ἐξεληλύθασιν (have gone out) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).
