⁷ Ἐν (In) δὲ (now) τοῖς (the parts) περὶ (around) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) ἐκεῖνον (that) ὑπῆρχεν (were) χωρία (lands) τῷ (belonging to the) πρώτῳ (chief) τῆς (of the) νήσου (island), ὀνόματι (named) Ποπλίῳ (Publius), ὃς (who) ἀναδεξάμενος (having received) ἡμᾶς (us) ἡμέρας (days) τρεῖς (three), φιλοφρόνως (hospitably) ἐξένισεν (entertained us).

⁴⁰ Ὁ (The One) δεχόμενος (receiving) ὑμᾶς (you), ἐμὲ (Me) δέχεται (receives); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) ἐμὲ (Me) δεχόμενος (receiving), δέχεται (receives) τὸν (the One) ἀποστείλαντά (having sent) με (Me). ⁴¹ ὁ (The one) δεχόμενος (receiving) προφήτην (a prophet) εἰς (in the) ὄνομα (name) προφήτου (of a prophet), μισθὸν (the reward) προφήτου (of a prophet) λήμψεται (will receive); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) δεχόμενος (receiving) δίκαιον (a righteous man) εἰς (in the) ὄνομα (name) δικαίου (of a righteous man), μισθὸν (the reward) δικαίου (of a righteous man) λήμψεται (will receive).

⁶ Καὶ (And) σπεύσας (having hurried), κατέβη (he came down) καὶ (and) ὑπεδέξατο (received) αὐτὸν (Him), χαίρων (rejoicing). ⁷ καὶ (And) ἰδόντες (having seen it), πάντες (all) διεγόγγυζον (were grumbling), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Παρὰ (With) ἁμαρτωλῷ (a sinful) ἀνδρὶ (man) εἰσῆλθεν (He has entered) καταλῦσαι (to stay).” ⁸ Σταθεὶς (Having stood) δὲ (then), Ζακχαῖος (Zacchaeus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), τὰ (the) ἡμίσιά* (half) μου (of me) τῶν (of the) ὑπαρχόντων (possessions), Κύριε (Lord), τοῖς (to the) πτωχοῖς (poor) δίδωμι (I give); καὶ (and) εἴ (if) τινός (of anyone) τι (anything) ἐσυκοφάντησα (I have defrauded), ἀποδίδωμι (I restore it) τετραπλοῦν (fourfold).” ⁹ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ὅτι (-), “Σήμερον (Today) σωτηρία (salvation) τῷ (to the) οἴκῳ (house) τούτῳ (this) ἐγένετο (has come), καθότι (because) καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) υἱὸς (a son) Ἀβραάμ (of Abraham) ἐστιν (is).

⁷ ὃς (who) ἦν (was) σὺν (with) τῷ (the) ἀνθυπάτῳ (proconsul) Σεργίῳ (Sergius) Παύλῳ (Paulus), ἀνδρὶ (man) συνετῷ (an intelligent). οὗτος (He) προσκαλεσάμενος (having called to him) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Σαῦλον (Saul), ἐπεζήτησεν (desired) ἀκοῦσαι (to hear) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹² Γαλλίωνος (Gallio) δὲ (however) ἀνθυπάτου (proconsul) ὄντος (being) τῆς (of) Ἀχαΐας (Achaia), κατεπέστησαν (rose up against) ὁμοθυμαδὸν (with one accord) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) τῷ (-) Παύλῳ (Paul), καὶ (and) ἤγαγον (led) αὐτὸν (him) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) βῆμα (judgment seat),

²⁴ κτήνη (Mounts) τε (then) παραστῆσαι (provide), ἵνα (so that) ἐπιβιβάσαντες (having set upon them) τὸν (-) Παῦλον (Paul), διασώσωσι (they might bring him safely) πρὸς (to) Φήλικα (Felix) τὸν (the) ἡγεμόνα (governor),”

² οἵ (-) τε (And) βάρβαροι (the natives) παρεῖχον* (were showing) οὐ (not just) τὴν (the) τυχοῦσαν (ordinary) φιλανθρωπίαν (kindness) ἡμῖν (to us). ἅψαντες (Having kindled) γὰρ (for) πυρὰν (a fire), προσελάβοντο (they received) πάντας (all) ἡμᾶς (of us) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) ὑετὸν (rain) τὸν (-) ἐφεστῶτα (coming on) καὶ (and) διὰ (because) τὸ (of the) ψῦχος (cold).
