¹² πολλοὶ (Many) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ἐπίστευσαν (believed), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) Ἑλληνίδων (Grecian) γυναικῶν (women) τῶν (-) εὐσχημόνων (prominent) καὶ (and) ἀνδρῶν (men) οὐκ (not) ὀλίγοι (a few).

⁴⁵ Εὑρίσκει (Finds) Φίλιππος (Philip) τὸν (-) Ναθαναὴλ (Nathanael) καὶ (and) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ὃν (Him whom) ἔγραψεν (wrote of) Μωϋσῆς (Moses) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (Law), καὶ (also) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets), εὑρήκαμεν (we have found), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) υἱὸν (son) τοῦ (-) Ἰωσὴφ (of Joseph), τὸν (-) ἀπὸ (of) Ναζαρέτ (Nazareth).” ⁴⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Ἐκ (Out of) Ναζαρὲτ (Nazareth) δύναταί (is able) τι (any) ἀγαθὸν (good thing) εἶναι (to be)?” Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Φίλιππος (Philip), “Ἔρχου (Come) καὶ (and) ἴδε (see).” ⁴⁷ Εἶδεν (Saw) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τὸν (-) Ναθαναὴλ (Nathanael) ἐρχόμενον (coming) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) λέγει (He says) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (him), “Ἴδε (Behold) ἀληθῶς (truly) Ἰσραηλίτης (an Israelite), ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) δόλος (deceit) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (there is).” ⁴⁸ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Πόθεν (From where) με (me) γινώσκεις (know You)?” Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Πρὸ (Before) τοῦ (-) σε (you) Φίλιππον (Philip) φωνῆσαι (calling), ὄντα (being) ὑπὸ (under) τὴν (the) συκῆν (fig tree), εἶδόν (I saw) σε (you).” ⁴⁹ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) αὐτῷ (Him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Ῥαββί (Rabbi), σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); σὺ (You) Βασιλεὺς (King) εἶ (are) τοῦ (-) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).”

¹⁷ ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) θέλῃ (desires) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ποιεῖν (to do), γνώσεται (he will know) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (the) διδαχῆς (teaching), πότερον (whether) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (it is), ἢ (or) ἐγὼ (I) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμαυτοῦ (Myself) λαλῶ (speak).

⁴⁶ Παρρησιασάμενοί (Having spoken boldly) τε (also), ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) εἶπαν (said), “Ὑμῖν (To you) ἦν (it was) ἀναγκαῖον (necessary) πρῶτον (first) λαληθῆναι (to be spoken) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); ἐπειδὴ (but since) ἀπωθεῖσθε (you thrust away) αὐτὸν (it) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀξίους (worthy) κρίνετε (you judge) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves) τῆς (-) αἰωνίου (of eternal) ζωῆς (life), ἰδοὺ (behold), στρεφόμεθα (we are turning) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles).

⁵⁰ Οἱ (The) δὲ (but) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) παρώτρυναν (incited) τὰς (the) σεβομένας (worshipping) γυναῖκας (women) τὰς (-) εὐσχήμονας (of honorable position), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πρώτους (principals) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city), καὶ (and) ἐπήγειραν (they stirred up) διωγμὸν (a persecution) ἐπὶ (against) τὸν (-) Παῦλον (Paul) καὶ (and) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas), καὶ (and) ἐξέβαλον (expelled) αὐτοὺς (them) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) ὁρίων (district) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹ Ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (now) ἐν (in) Ἰκονίῳ (Iconium), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) εἰσελθεῖν (entered) αὐτοὺς (they) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) συναγωγὴν (synagogue) τῶν (of the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews) καὶ (and) λαλῆσαι (spoke) οὕτως (so) ὥστε (that) πιστεῦσαι (believed) Ἰουδαίων (of Jewish) τε (both) καὶ (and) Ἑλλήνων (Greeks) πολὺ (a great) πλῆθος (number).

² κατὰ (According to) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) εἰωθὸς (custom) τῷ (-) Παύλῳ (with Paul), εἰσῆλθεν (he went in) πρὸς (to) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (for) σάββατα (Sabbaths) τρία (three) διελέξατο (he reasoned) αὐτοῖς (with them) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) γραφῶν (Scriptures), ³ διανοίγων (opening) καὶ (and) παρατιθέμενος (setting forth) ὅτι (that) τὸν (the) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἔδει (it behooved) παθεῖν (to have suffered), καὶ (and) ἀναστῆναι (to have risen) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), καὶ (and) ὅτι (that) “Οὗτός (this) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὃν (whom) ἐγὼ (I) καταγγέλλω (preach) ὑμῖν (to you).” ⁴ καί (And) τινες (some) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ἐπείσθησαν (were obedient) καὶ (and) προσεκληρώθησαν (joined themselves) τῷ (-) Παύλῳ (to Paul) καὶ (and) τῷ (-) Σιλᾷ (to Silas), τῶν (-) τε (along with) σεβομένων (worshipping) Ἑλλήνων (Greeks) πλῆθος (a multitude) πολὺ (great), γυναικῶν (women) τε (then) τῶν (of the) πρώτων (leading) οὐκ (not) ὀλίγαι (a few).

²⁶ Βλέπετε (Consider) γὰρ (for) τὴν (the) κλῆσιν (calling) ὑμῶν (of you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) πολλοὶ (many) σοφοὶ (wise) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh were), οὐ (not) πολλοὶ (many) δυνατοί (powerful), οὐ (not) πολλοὶ (many) εὐγενεῖς (of noble birth).

¹⁴ διὸ (Therefore) λέγει (it says): “Ἔγειρε (Awake you), ὁ (the one) καθεύδων (sleeping), καὶ (and) ἀνάστα (rise up) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead), καὶ (and) ἐπιφαύσει (will shine upon) σοι (you) ὁ (-) Χριστός (Christ).”

¹⁰ ὁ (he who is) δὲ (then) πλούσιος (rich), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ταπεινώσει (humiliation) αὐτοῦ (of him), ὅτι (because) ὡς (like) ἄνθος (a flower) χόρτου (of grass) παρελεύσεται (he will pass away).

²¹ διὸ (Therefore), ἀποθέμενοι (having put aside) πᾶσαν (all) ῥυπαρίαν (filthiness) καὶ (and) περισσείαν (abounding) κακίας (of wickedness), ἐν (in) πραΰτητι (humility) δέξασθε (receive) τὸν (the) ἔμφυτον (implanted) λόγον (word), τὸν (-) δυνάμενον (being able) σῶσαι (to save) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) ὑμῶν (of you).
