³⁶ Μετὰ (After) δέ (now) τινας (some) ἡμέρας (days), εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas), Παῦλος (Paul), “Ἐπιστρέψαντες (Having turned back) δὴ (indeed) ἐπισκεψώμεθα (let us look after) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) κατὰ (in) πόλιν (city) πᾶσαν (every) ἐν (in) αἷς (which) κατηγγείλαμεν (we have announced) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), πῶς (how) ἔχουσιν (they are).”

³⁶ γυμνὸς (naked), καὶ (and) περιεβάλετέ (you clothed) με (Me); ἠσθένησα (I was sick), καὶ (and) ἐπεσκέψασθέ (you visited) με (Me); ἐν (in) φυλακῇ (prison) ἤμην (I was), καὶ (and) ἤλθατε (you came) πρός (to) με (Me).’

⁴³ ξένος (a stranger) ἤμην (I was), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) συνηγάγετέ (You took in) με (Me); γυμνὸς (naked), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) περιεβάλετέ (you did clothe) με (Me); ἀσθενὴς (sick) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) φυλακῇ (prison), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐπεσκέψασθέ (did you visit) με (Me).’

²³ Ὡς (When) δὲ (then) ἐπληροῦτο (was fulfilled) αὐτῷ (to him) τεσσερακονταέτης (of forty years) χρόνος (a period), ἀνέβη (it came) ἐπὶ (into) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (mind) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπισκέψασθαι (to visit) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) αὐτοῦ (of him), τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).

⁴ Αὐτοὶ (They) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἐκπεμφθέντες (having been sent forth) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit), κατῆλθον (went down) εἰς (to) Σελεύκειαν (Seleucia). ἐκεῖθέν (From there) τε (then) ἀπέπλευσαν (they sailed) εἰς (to) Κύπρον (Cyprus).

¹³ Ἀναχθέντες (Having sailed) δὲ (then) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Πάφου (Paphos) οἱ (with those) περὶ (around him), Παῦλον (Paul) ἦλθον (came) εἰς (to) Πέργην (Perga) τῆς (-) Παμφυλίας (of Pamphylia). Ἰωάννης (John) δὲ (however) ἀποχωρήσας (having departed) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them), ὑπέστρεψεν (returned) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem). ¹⁴ Αὐτοὶ (They) δὲ (now), διελθόντες (having passed through) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Πέργης (Perga), παρεγένοντο (came) εἰς (to) Ἀντιόχειαν (Antioch) τὴν (-) Πισιδίαν (of Pisidia), καὶ (and) εἰσελθόντες* (having gone) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) συναγωγὴν (synagogue) τῇ (on the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (Sabbaths), ἐκάθισαν (they sat down).

⁵¹ οἱ (-) δὲ (But) ἐκτιναξάμενοι (having shaken off) τὸν (the) κονιορτὸν (dust) τῶν (of the) ποδῶν (feet) ἐπ’ (against) αὐτοὺς (them), ἦλθον (they went) εἰς (to) Ἰκόνιον (Iconium);

¹ Ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (now) ἐν (in) Ἰκονίῳ (Iconium), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) εἰσελθεῖν (entered) αὐτοὺς (they) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) συναγωγὴν (synagogue) τῶν (of the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews) καὶ (and) λαλῆσαι (spoke) οὕτως (so) ὥστε (that) πιστεῦσαι (believed) Ἰουδαίων (of Jewish) τε (both) καὶ (and) Ἑλλήνων (Greeks) πολὺ (a great) πλῆθος (number).

⁶ συνιδόντες (having become aware), κατέφυγον (they fled) εἰς (to) τὰς (the) πόλεις (cities) τῆς (-) Λυκαονίας (of Lycaonia), Λύστραν (Lystra), καὶ (and) Δέρβην (Derbe), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) περίχωρον (surrounding region),

²¹ Εὐαγγελισάμενοί* (Having proclaimed the gospel to) τε (then) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) ἐκείνην (that), καὶ (and) μαθητεύσαντες (having discipled) ἱκανοὺς (many), ὑπέστρεψαν (they returned) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) Λύστραν (Lystra), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Ἰκόνιον (Iconium), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Ἀντιόχειαν (Antioch),

¹¹ ἐπιποθῶ (I long) γὰρ (for) ἰδεῖν (to see) ὑμᾶς (you), ἵνα (that) τι (some) μεταδῶ (I may impart) χάρισμα (gift) ὑμῖν (to you) πνευματικὸν (spiritual), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) στηριχθῆναι (strengthening) ὑμᾶς (of you),

²⁸ Χωρὶς (Besides) τῶν (the things) παρεκτὸς (external), ἡ (the) ἐπίστασίς (pressure) μοι (on me) ἡ (-) καθ’ (on every) ἡμέραν (day) ἡ (is my) μέριμνα (care) πασῶν (for all) τῶν (the) ἐκκλησιῶν (churches).

²⁷ Μόνον (Only) ἀξίως (worthily) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) πολιτεύεσθε (conduct yourselves), ἵνα (so that) εἴτε (whether) ἐλθὼν (having come) καὶ (and) ἰδὼν (having seen) ὑμᾶς (you), εἴτε (or) ἀπὼν (being absent), ἀκούω (I might hear) τὰ (the things) περὶ (concerning) ὑμῶν (you), ὅτι (that) στήκετε (you are standing firm) ἐν (in) ἑνὶ (one) πνεύματι (spirit), μιᾷ (with one) ψυχῇ (mind) συναθλοῦντες (striving together) τῇ (for the) πίστει (faith) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel),

¹⁷ Ἡμεῖς (We) δέ (however), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἀπορφανισθέντες (having been bereaved) ἀφ’ (of) ὑμῶν (you) πρὸς (for) καιρὸν (the time) ὥρας (of an hour), προσώπῳ (in face), οὐ (not) καρδίᾳ (in heart), περισσοτέρως (more abundantly) ἐσπουδάσαμεν (were eager) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) ὑμῶν (of you) ἰδεῖν (to see) ἐν (with) πολλῇ (great) ἐπιθυμίᾳ (desire). ¹⁸ διότι (Therefore) ἠθελήσαμεν (we wanted) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) — ἐγὼ (I) μὲν (indeed) Παῦλος (Paul), καὶ (both) ἅπαξ (once) καὶ (and) δίς (twice) — καὶ (and) ἐνέκοψεν (hindered) ἡμᾶς (us) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan).

⁶ Ἄρτι (Presently) δὲ (however), ἐλθόντος (having come) Τιμοθέου (Timothy) πρὸς (to) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀφ’ (from) ὑμῶν (you), καὶ (and) εὐαγγελισαμένου (having brought good news) ἡμῖν (to us) τὴν (of the) πίστιν (faith) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) ὅτι (that) ἔχετε (you have) μνείαν (a remembrance) ἡμῶν (of us) ἀγαθὴν (good) πάντοτε (always), ἐπιποθοῦντες (longing) ἡμᾶς (us) ἰδεῖν (to see), καθάπερ (just as) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) ὑμᾶς (you),

¹⁰ νυκτὸς (night) καὶ (and) ἡμέρας (day), ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ (exceedingly) δεόμενοι (imploring) εἰς (for us) τὸ (-) ἰδεῖν (to see) ὑμῶν (your) τὸ (-) πρόσωπον (face) καὶ (and) καταρτίσαι (to supply) τὰ (the things) ὑστερήματα (lacking) τῆς (in the) πίστεως (faith) ὑμῶν (of you)? ¹¹ Αὐτὸς (Himself) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) Πατὴρ (Father) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), κατευθύναι (may direct) τὴν (the) ὁδὸν (way) ἡμῶν (of us) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

⁴ ἐπιποθῶν (longing) σε (you) ἰδεῖν (to see), μεμνημένος (recalling) σου (your) τῶν (-) δακρύων (tears), ἵνα (so that) χαρᾶς (with joy) πληρωθῶ (I may be filled),
