¹⁰ ἢ (Or) δι’ (because of) ἡμᾶς (us) πάντως (entirely) λέγει (is He speaking)? δι’ (For sake of) ἡμᾶς (us) γὰρ (for) ἐγράφη (it was written), ὅτι (because) ὀφείλει (ought) ἐπ’ (in) ἐλπίδι (hope) ὁ (the one) ἀροτριῶν (plowing) ἀροτριᾶν (to plow), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) ἀλοῶν (threshing), ἐπ’ (in) ἐλπίδι (hope) τοῦ (-) μετέχειν (to partake).

²² καὶ (And) εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἐκολοβώθησαν (had been shortened) αἱ (the) ἡμέραι (days) ἐκεῖναι (those), οὐκ (not) ἂν (-) ἐσώθη (there would have been saved) πᾶσα (any) σάρξ (flesh); διὰ (because of) δὲ (however) τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτοὺς (elect), κολοβωθήσονται (will be shortened) αἱ (the) ἡμέραι (days) ἐκεῖναι (those).

⁷ Τίς (Which) δὲ (now) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you) δοῦλον (a servant) ἔχων (having), ἀροτριῶντα (plowing) ἢ (or) ποιμαίνοντα (shepherding), ὃς (the one) εἰσελθόντι (having come in) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) ἀγροῦ (field), ἐρεῖ (will say) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Εὐθέως (Immediately) παρελθὼν (having come), ἀνάπεσε (recline)?’ ⁸ ἀλλ’ (But) οὐχὶ (not) ἐρεῖ (will he say) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Ἑτοίμασον (Prepare) τί (what) δειπνήσω (I may eat), καὶ (and) περιζωσάμενος (having girded yourself about), διακόνει (serve) μοι (me) ἕως (while) φάγω (I eat) καὶ (and) πίω (drink); καὶ (and) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things) φάγεσαι (shall eat) καὶ (and) πίεσαι (drink) σύ (you)?’

³⁵ οὐχ (Not) ὑμεῖς (you) λέγετε (say) ὅτι (that) Ἔτι (yet) τετράμηνός (four months) ἐστιν (it is), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) θερισμὸς (harvest) ἔρχεται (comes)? ἰδοὺ (Behold), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐπάρατε (lift up) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ὑμῶν (of you) καὶ (and) θεάσασθε (see) τὰς (the) χώρας (fields), ὅτι (because) λευκαί (white) εἰσιν (they are) πρὸς (toward) θερισμόν (harvest) ἤδη (already)! ³⁶ Ὁ (The one) θερίζων (reaping) μισθὸν (a reward) λαμβάνει (receives) καὶ (and) συνάγει (gathers) καρπὸν (fruit) εἰς (unto) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal), ἵνα (so that) ὁ (the one) σπείρων (sowing) ὁμοῦ (together) χαίρῃ (may rejoice), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) θερίζων (reaping). ³⁷ ἐν (In) γὰρ (for) τούτῳ (this) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying) ἐστὶν (is) ἀληθινὸς (true) ὅτι (-), ‘Ἄλλος (One) ἐστὶν (is) ὁ (-) σπείρων (sowing), καὶ (and) ἄλλος (another) ὁ (-) θερίζων (reaping).’ ³⁸ ἐγὼ (I) ἀπέστειλα (sent) ὑμᾶς (you) θερίζειν (to reap) ὃ (what) οὐχ (not) ὑμεῖς (you) κεκοπιάκατε (have toiled for); ἄλλοι (others) κεκοπιάκασιν (have toiled), καὶ (and) ὑμεῖς (you) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόπον (labor) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰσεληλύθατε (have entered).”

²³ Οὐκ (Not) ἐγράφη (it was written) δὲ (now) δι’ (on account of) αὐτὸν (him) μόνον (alone) ὅτι (that) “Ἐλογίσθη (it was credited) αὐτῷ (to him),” ²⁴ ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) δι’ (on account of) ἡμᾶς (us), οἷς (to whom) μέλλει (it is about) λογίζεσθαι (to be credited), τοῖς (to those) πιστεύουσιν (believing) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the One) ἐγείραντα (having raised) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead),

⁴ ὅσα (Whatever) γὰρ (for) προεγράφη (was written in the past), (πάντα) (all) εἰς (for) τὴν (-) ἡμετέραν (our) διδασκαλίαν (instruction) ἐγράφη (was written), ἵνα (so that) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) ὑπομονῆς (endurance) καὶ (and) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) παρακλήσεως (encouragement) τῶν (of the) γραφῶν (Scriptures), τὴν (-) ἐλπίδα (hope) ἔχωμεν (we might have).

⁹ Θεοῦ (Of God) γάρ (for) ἐσμεν (we are) συνεργοί (fellow workers); Θεοῦ (God’s) γεώργιον (field), Θεοῦ (God’s) οἰκοδομή (building) ἐστε (you are).

¹⁵ τὰ (-) γὰρ (For) πάντα (all things are) δι’ (for the sake of) ὑμᾶς (you), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) πλεονάσασα (having abounded) διὰ (through) τῶν (-) πλειόνων (more and more) τὴν (the) εὐχαριστίαν (thanksgiving) περισσεύσῃ (may increase) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁶ τὸν (For the) κοπιῶντα (hardworking) γεωργὸν (farmer) δεῖ (it is necessary) πρῶτον (first) τῶν (of the) καρπῶν (fruits) μεταλαμβάνειν (to partake).
