⁴ οὐδὲν (Nothing) γὰρ (for) ἐμαυτῷ (against myself) σύνοιδα (I am conscious of), ἀλλ’ (yet) οὐκ (not) ἐν (by) τούτῳ (this) δεδικαίωμαι (have I been justified); ὁ (the One) δὲ (however) ἀνακρίνων (judging) με (me) Κύριός (the Lord) ἐστιν (is).

¹⁷ Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him) τὸ (the) τρίτον (third time), “Σίμων (Simon) Ἰωάννου (son of John), φιλεῖς (do you dearly love) με (Me)?” Ἐλυπήθη (Was grieved) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) ὅτι (because) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him) τὸ (the) τρίτον (third time), “Φιλεῖς (Do you dearly love) με (Me)?” Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (he said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Κύριε (Lord), πάντα (all things) σὺ (You) οἶδας (know); σὺ (You) γινώσκεις (know) ὅτι (that) φιλῶ (I dearly love) σε (You).” Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Βόσκε (Feed) τὰ (the) πρόβατά (sheep) μου (of Me).

¹ Ἀτενίσας (Having looked intently) δὲ (then) ‹ὁ› (-) Παῦλος (Paul) τῷ (at the) συνεδρίῳ (Council), εἶπεν (he said), “Ἄνδρες (Men), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἐγὼ (I) πάσῃ (in all) συνειδήσει (conscience) ἀγαθῇ (good) πεπολίτευμαι (have lived as a citizen) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἄχρι (unto) ταύτης (this) τῆς (-) ἡμέρας (day).”

¹³ οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) οἱ (the) ἀκροαταὶ (hearers) νόμου (of the law are) δίκαιοι (righteous) παρὰ (with) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ἀλλ’ (but) οἱ (the) ποιηταὶ (doers) νόμου (of the law) δικαιωθήσονται (will be justified).

¹⁹ Οἴδαμεν (We know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) ὅσα (whatever) ὁ (the) νόμος (law) λέγει (says), τοῖς (to those) ἐν (under) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (law) λαλεῖ (it speaks), ἵνα (so that) πᾶν (every) στόμα (mouth) φραγῇ (may be stopped), καὶ (and) ὑπόδικος (under judgment) γένηται (may be) πᾶς (all) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God). ²⁰ διότι (Therefore) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law) οὐ (not) δικαιωθήσεται (will be justified) πᾶσα (any) σὰρξ (flesh) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him); διὰ (through) γὰρ (for) νόμου (the Law) ἐπίγνωσις (is knowledge) ἁμαρτίας (of sin).

² εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) ἐδικαιώθη (was justified), ἔχει (he has) καύχημα (ground of boasting), ἀλλ’ (but) οὐ (not) πρὸς (toward) Θεόν (God).

⁵ Ὥστε (So then), μὴ (not) πρὸ (before the) καιροῦ (time) τι (anything) κρίνετε (judge), ἕως (until) ἂν (-) ἔλθῃ (shall have come) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), ὃς (who) καὶ (both) φωτίσει (will bring to light) τὰ (the) κρυπτὰ (hidden things) τοῦ (-) σκότους (of darkness), καὶ (and) φανερώσει (will make manifest) τὰς (the) βουλὰς (motives) τῶν (of the) καρδιῶν (hearts); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ὁ (the) ἔπαινος (praise) γενήσεται (will come) ἑκάστῳ (to each) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God).

¹² Ἡ (-) γὰρ (For) καύχησις (the boasting) ἡμῶν (of us) αὕτη (this) ἐστίν (is), τὸ (the) μαρτύριον (testimony) τῆς (of the) συνειδήσεως (conscience) ἡμῶν (of us), ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) ἁγιότητι (the holiness) καὶ (and) εἰλικρινείᾳ (sincerity) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), [καὶ] (and) οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) σοφίᾳ (wisdom) σαρκικῇ (fleshly), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) χάριτι (the grace) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀνεστράφημεν (we have conducted ourselves) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world), περισσοτέρως (more abundantly) δὲ (now) πρὸς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹⁰ τοὺς (-) γὰρ (For) πάντας (all) ἡμᾶς (of us) φανερωθῆναι (to be revealed) δεῖ (it behooves) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τοῦ (the) βήματος (judgment seat) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ἵνα (that) κομίσηται (may receive back) ἕκαστος (each) τὰ (the things done) διὰ (in) τοῦ (the) σώματος (body), πρὸς (according to) ἃ (what) ἔπραξεν (he did), εἴτε (whether) ἀγαθὸν (good) εἴτε (or) φαῦλον (evil).

²⁰ ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) καταγινώσκῃ (should condemn us) ἡμῶν (our) ἡ (-) καρδία (heart), ὅτι (that) μείζων (greater than) ἐστὶν (is) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (the) καρδίας (heart) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) γινώσκει (He knows) πάντα (all things). ²¹ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), ἐὰν (if) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart) ‹ἡμῶν› (of us) «μὴ (not) καταγινώσκῃ» (should condemn us), παρρησίαν (confidence) ἔχομεν (we have) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God),
