³ διὸ (Therefore) γνωρίζω (I make known) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) λαλῶν (speaking), λέγει (says) “Αναθεμα (Accursed is) ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Jesus),” καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) εἰπεῖν (to say), “Κυριος (Lord is) ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Jesus),” εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

¹⁶ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) εἶπεν (said), “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God) τοῦ (the) ζῶντος (living).” ¹⁷ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Μακάριος (Blessed) εἶ (are you), Σίμων (Simon) Βαριωνᾶ (Barjona)! ὅτι (For) σὰρξ (flesh) καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκάλυψέν (revealed it) σοι (to you), ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me), ὁ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).

⁴³ Λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Πῶς (How) οὖν (then), Δαυὶδ (David) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (spirit) καλεῖ (does call) αὐτὸν (Him) Κύριον (Lord), λέγων (saying):

³⁹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Μὴ (Not) κωλύετε (forbid) αὐτόν (him). οὐδεὶς (No one) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) ὃς (who) ποιήσει (will do) δύναμιν (a work of power) ἐπὶ (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) δυνήσεται (will be able) ταχὺ (readily) κακολογῆσαί (to speak evil of) με (Me).

¹³ ὑμεῖς (You) φωνεῖτέ (call) με (Me) Ὁ (-) Διδάσκαλος (Teacher) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Κύριος (Lord), καὶ (and) καλῶς (rightly) λέγετε (you say), εἰμὶ (I am) γάρ (for).

²⁶ Ὅταν (When) ἔλθῃ (comes) ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper), ὃν (whom) ἐγὼ (I) πέμψω (will send) ὑμῖν (to you) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὃ (who) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth), ἐκεῖνος (He) μαρτυρήσει (will bear witness) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me).

¹⁴ ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐμὲ (Me) δοξάσει (will glorify), ὅτι (for) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (that which is) ἐμοῦ (Mine) λήμψεται (He will take), καὶ (and) ἀναγγελεῖ (will disclose) ὑμῖν (to you). ¹⁵ πάντα (All things) ὅσα (whatever) ἔχει (has) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), ἐμά (Mine) ἐστιν (are); διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), εἶπον (I said) ὅτι (that) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (that which is) ἐμοῦ (Mine) λαμβάνει (He will take) καὶ (and) ἀναγγελεῖ (will disclose) ὑμῖν (to you).

³ ηὐχόμην (Could wish) γὰρ (for) ἀνάθεμα (a curse) εἶναι (to be) αὐτὸς (myself) ἐγὼ (I), ἀπὸ (separated from) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (Christ) ὑπὲρ (for) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) μου (of me), τῶν (-) συγγενῶν (kinsmen) μου (of me), κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (the flesh);

⁹ ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) ὁμολογήσῃς (you confess) ἐν (with) τῷ (the) στόματί (mouth) σου (of you), “Κύριον (The Lord is) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus),” καὶ (and) πιστεύσῃς (believe) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) καρδίᾳ (heart) σου (of you), ὅτι (that) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) αὐτὸν (Him) ἤγειρεν (raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), σωθήσῃ (you will be saved).

⁶ ἀλλ’ (yet) ἡμῖν (to us) εἷς (there is one) Θεὸς (God), ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father), ἐξ (of) οὗ (whom are) τὰ (the things) πάντα (all), καὶ (and) ἡμεῖς (we) εἰς (for) αὐτόν (Him); καὶ (and) εἷς (one) Κύριος (Lord), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστός (Christ), δι’ (by) οὗ (whom are) τὰ (the things) πάντα (all), καὶ (and) ἡμεῖς (we) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him).

²² Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) οὐ (not) φιλεῖ (loves) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord), ἤτω (let him be) ἀνάθεμα (accursed). Μαράνα* (Marana) θά* (tha)!

⁵ οὐχ (Not) ὅτι (that) ἀφ’ (from) ἑαυτῶν (ourselves) ἱκανοί (sufficient) ἐσμεν (we are) λογίσασθαί (to reckon) τι (anything) ὡς (as) ἐξ (of) ἑαυτῶν (ourselves), ἀλλ’ (but) ἡ (the) ἱκανότης (sufficiency) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (is of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God),

⁴ εἰ (If) μὲν (indeed) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the one) ἐρχόμενος (coming), ἄλλον (another) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) κηρύσσει (proclaims), ὃν (whom) οὐκ (not) ἐκηρύξαμεν (we did proclaim), ἢ (or) πνεῦμα (a spirit) ἕτερον (different) λαμβάνετε (you receive) ὃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἐλάβετε (you did receive), ἢ (or) εὐαγγέλιον (glad tidings) ἕτερον (different) ὃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξασθε (you did accept), καλῶς (well) ἀνέχεσθε (are you bearing with it).

¹³ Χριστὸς (Christ) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐξηγόρασεν (redeemed) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) κατάρας (curse) τοῦ (of the) νόμου (Law), γενόμενος (having become) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us) κατάρα (a curse), ὅτι (for) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἐπικατάρατος (Cursed is) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) κρεμάμενος (hanging) ἐπὶ (on) ξύλου (a tree)” —

² Ἐν (By) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκετε (you know) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God): πᾶν (Every) πνεῦμα (spirit) ὃ (that) ὁμολογεῖ (confesses) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (the flesh) ἐληλυθότα (having come), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (is); ³ καὶ (and) πᾶν (any) πνεῦμα (spirit) ὃ (that) μὴ (not) ὁμολογεῖ (confesses) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is). καὶ (And) τοῦτό (this) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (that) τοῦ (of the) ἀντιχρίστου (antichrist), ὃ (which) ἀκηκόατε (you heard) ὅτι (that) ἔρχεται (is coming), καὶ (and) νῦν (now) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) ἐστὶν (is) ἤδη (already).
