¹⁹ I am living in a strange land: do not let your teachings be kept secret from me.

³⁰ When he said this a number came to have faith in him. ³¹ Then Jesus said to the Jews who had faith in him, If you keep my word, then you are truly my disciples; ³² And you will have knowledge of what is true, and that will make you free. ³³ They said to him in answer, We are Abraham's seed and have never been any man's servant: why do you say, You will become free? ³⁴ And this was the answer Jesus gave them: Truly I say to you, Everyone who does evil is the servant of sin. ³⁵ Now the servant does not go on living in the house for ever, but the son does. ³⁶ If then the son makes you free, you will be truly free.

¹⁷ For this reason, then, do not be foolish, but be conscious of the Lord's pleasure.

²⁵ But he who goes on looking into the true law which makes him free, being not a hearer without memory but a doer putting it into effect, this man will have a blessing on his acts.

¹² Let your words and your acts be those of men who are to be judged by the law which makes free.

¹⁹ Saying that they will be free, while they themselves are the servants of destruction; because whatever gets the better of a man makes a servant of him.
