³⁴ For this reason, behold, I send you prophets and wise men and scribes; and some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood which has been shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the just to the blood of Zachariah, the son of Barachiah, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

¹⁹ Beloved, avenge not yourselves, but give place to the wrath of God; for it is written: Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.

¹¹ Even to this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clothed, and are maltreated, and wander about without a home, ¹² and labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;

¹⁵ See that no one render evil for evil to any, but always pursue that which is good toward one another and toward all.
