²⁰ And there was a certain poor man named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores:

²¹ and he would gladly have been fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table. And even the dogs came and licked his sores.

² And a certain man, lame from his mother's womb, was carried along, whom they laid daily at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, that he might ask charity of those who were going into the temple.

⁹ Let the brother that is in a lowly condition, glory in his exaltation:

⁵ Hear, my be loved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which God has promised to those who love him?
