¹³ No servant can serve two masters; for he will either hate the one, and love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and despise the other. You can not serve God and riches.

For the end of those things is death. ²² But now, since you have been made free from sin, and have become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, eternal life.

⁵ For those who are according to the flesh, mind the things of the flesh; but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. ⁷ Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can it be. ⁸ Those, then, who are in the flesh, can not please God.

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friend ship of the world is enmity to God? Whoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world, is an enemy of God.

¹⁵ Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
