⁷ For who gave you distinction, as a teacher? And what have you as a teacher, that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast, as if you had not received it?

¹⁴ For as a man, on leaving his country, called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods: ¹⁵ To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one; to each one, according to his own ability, and immediately left his country.

¹³ And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, Engage in trade till I come.

¹⁶ And from his fullness have we all received, even grace for grace;

²⁷ John answered and said: A man can receive nothing unless it be given to him from heaven.

²² And the people shouted: It is the voice of God, and not of man. ²³ And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he did not give God the glory. And having been eaten by worms, he expired.

⁵ through whom we have received grace and apostleship, in order to the obedience of faith among all nations, for the honor of his name,

¹⁶ Therefore, it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. ¹⁷ For the scripture says to Pharaoh: For this very purpose have I raised you up, that I may show in you my power, and that my name may be published in all the earth. ¹⁸ Therefore, he has mercy on whom he wills to have mercy: and whom he wills to harden, he hardens.

³ For I say, through the grace given to me, to every one that is among you, that he must not think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but that he be disposed to think modestly, as God has distributed to each a measure of faith.

⁶ Since, then, we have gifts which differ according to the grace that is given to us, whether we have the gift of prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;

⁵ Who, then, is Paul? and who is Apollos? Ministers by whom you have believed, even as the Lord gave to each one.

⁶ Your boasting is not good; know you not that a little leaven leavens the whole mass?

⁷ for I could wish that all men were even as I am myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this way, another in that.

⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit; ⁵ and there are diversities of ministries, but the same Lord; ⁶ and there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who makes them all effectual in all. ⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one, for the good of all. ⁸ For to one is given, by the Spirit, the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit; ⁹ to another, faith, by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing, by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ to another, the working of mighty deeds; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, different kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ But all these, the one and the same Spirit makes effectual, distributing to each, respectively, as he wills.

¹⁰ But, by the grace of God, I am what I am; and his grace, which was bestowed on me, has not been bestowed in vain: but I have labored more abundantly than they all; not I, how ever, but the grace of God which was with me.

³ that by revelation was made known to me the mystery, (as I briefly wrote above, ⁴ so that, when you read, you can see my understanding in the mystery of the Christ,) ⁵ which, in other generations, was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

¹² that all may be condemned who believe not the truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness. ¹³ But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God did, from the beginning, choose you to salvation, by sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ "to which he called you by our gospel, in order that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹² And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me power, because he counted me faithful, and put me into the ministry; ¹³ me, I say, who before was a reviler and a persecutor and an overbearing man. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief: ¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord was very abundant with faith, and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Assuredly true and worthy of all acceptation is this saying: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

³ For we ourselves also were formerly foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one an other. ⁴ But when the kindness and philanthropy of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ that, being justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁷ every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor slightest trace of turning.

¹⁰ As each has received a gift, minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
