¹⁶ But I thank God for putting the same concern [that I have] for you in the heart of Titus.

¹³ I had no peace of mind because I did not find my brother Titus [there]. So, I said “good-bye” to them and went on to Macedonia. ¹⁴ But I offer thanks to God, who always leads us [preachers] to victory in [the service of] Christ, and through us makes known the “fragrant odor” of His knowledge everywhere.

⁷ [We were comforted] not only by his presence, but also [by learning] that you comforted him. He [also] told us of your longing and grieving and concern for me, so that made me all the happier.

¹² So, although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the person who did the wrong, nor for the one who was wronged, but so that you could realize before God how devoted to us you are.

²⁰ For I do not have anyone else [i.e., as a fellow-worker] who thinks the same way I do, and who will genuinely care for your [spiritual and material] needs.

¹⁷ And whatever you do, whether in [your] words or actions, do everything in the name [i.e., by the authority] of Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

¹⁷ For God has placed on their hearts [the desire] to carry out His purpose, by agreeing to give their kingdom to the beast until God’s words are fulfilled.
